Passion Racing out of business?
Screamin99 replied to bigbossjake's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Does he actually have them cuz I'm dieing to get my shit back! And I do all my machining and blueprinting at school myself and build my own engines so trust iv made some mistakes and learned a lot but I'm gunna draw the line when I have to tig weld and basically redesign a cylinder. That can wait to learn another day lol -
Passion Racing out of business?
Screamin99 replied to bigbossjake's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Been waiten on cyls head and crank from passion for well over 5 months now. He's been great the initial two or three times I got him on the pgone but I have called and emailed countless times for the last three months and haven't heard anything. Last I heard is they are done and should have been shiped months ago. Missed a great ice season here in ontario as a result -

revs high when started cold? why?
Screamin99 replied to Screamin99's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
ok thanks for all the input guys, im just gunna go threw the carbs and intake parts and double check everything -
revs high when started cold? why?
Screamin99 replied to Screamin99's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Its all stock and all the intake pieces are in good comdition. I dont think its a leak that is sealing up because it only doing it for a second or two at most, the engine in still cool when it stops. -
revs high when started cold? why?

i could see that in the winter, you can 100% here them clack close befor iv started it. not a bad theory but i could only see them happening in extremely harsh conditions. The throttle cables were the first thing i checked when this started happening. im pretty mechanicaly inclined for somone whos 15 but this ones got me stumped -
revs high when started cold? why?
Screamin99 replied to Screamin99's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
nahh, its only when i first start it when its cold not touching the throttle at all -
Just want to know whats up with my shee. when i start it cold it revs up almost to wot for a second or two but then comes down as its warming up. Its definatly not lean, its really rich with the dyno jet kit so i dnt know why its reving up and idle adjustments arnt helping at all. I just bought the bike and it came with the dyno jet kit and fmf pipes with open airbox. Would the open air box effect this? It starts like this every time its cold choke or no choke. Iv never ran a dynojet kit befor so im thinking of putting back in the stock needle and just jetting it properly aposed to this universal style jet kit. Any advice would help thanks

ok i will definatly consider that cylinder option. but arnt those drag/hill cylinders and are very "lightswitch like"? im after something that is cheap first off, gunna last, smooth power pull, able to be bored out when rebuilt and easy to get pistons for so i could just order from a locol shop that carries wiesco.
-
ahh never mind i thought u were talking about their cranks my bad. iv looked at them and something about them says cooling issues and i do mostly trail how reliable would they be? plus i want a powervalve motor or something that rides like it. iv also seen this serval cylinder and its a tourqe monster and runs like a powervalve motor for half the price
-
when you say bored is it like a crankshaft in a car how the can be turned and then have bigger rod bearins? I dont know much about crankshafts but arnt those twisters welded? do they grind off the welds when they are rebuilt? i was originally thinking a hotrods crank welded with 115 rods

hmm that doesnt sound too apealing. hate to waste your time but what exactly was not quite right that you had to work on? was it just three years to get it set up how you like? if i was to do it i would just buy the cylinder around 400cc with stock bottom end (new crank and bearings done last season) and stock carbs with my fmf pipes. Then a year after or so i would do a 4mil, bigger carbs, biggers exhaust and aftermarket head. I know that year would be kinda wasting it but lets be honest im only 15 and dont have the most steady income of money hahah.

im glad i brought up the cylinders. ik its not gunna be cheap but what kind of reliability issues will i be facing with aftermarket cylinders. I know a port job would do great, but lets be honest ill be happy with it for a year or two but them im just going to want more and more, its just how i am. By the time i spend money on arfter market head or machining the stock one, getting a quality port job, the usual bore/hone and new pistons i will be close to the coast of a new cylinder kit. plus i just have my mind set on a powervalve motor, iv looked into ypvs cylinders but all the electrical work and money will make them not worth it. I would like to read more about this cat cylinder is there a website i can go to?

Thanks guys great information. I do mostly trail riding and some light moto, nothing crazy. Really all that is done to it is fmf fatties and a dyno jet kit with open air box. This year i do plan on getting a set of American star a-arms, havent heard anything negative about them yet, they are cheap and have a lifetime waranty. And i will probably be pairing them up with some fox floats. I havent givin up on the rear suspention yet, the only pain is how anoying they are for chain adjustments. Down the road i would probably get an American star 450r style swinger and who knows what shock. I do have some big ideas as far as the motor goes, i really like the t-rex cylinder and would match it up with a 4mil longrod crank and some bigger carbs and pipes. I am more interested in smooth power pull and decent tourque vs a wot drag motor. thanks for all the replies and good advice

hey guys i just joined the forum and this is my first time posting. i picked up a 99 banshee a couple weeks ago and iv got a couple questions i couldnt find the answers too. First off i couldnt be more happy with my shee, will definatly keep it as long as i can, the only thing wrong with it that i found is that it has a whole in the lower case under shift shaft that has been patched. so that got me thinking about the cases and the entire bottom end and how much power it can handle. How much power can the stock clutch take befor lockout is need? how much power can the gears themselvs take? how about the entire cases? thanks
