  1. Lol, I really didnt mean anything that extreme. More of, unsanctioned, bolt on bikes. Something I can relate to.
  2. Wondering how many of yall have done/do this? I was looking through a scrapbook I have, and came across some pictures of mine, and my friends quads with timeslips, got me to thinking. As I posted before, I have been off of sport quads for almost 8 years now. Anyhow, I remember one of our favorite things to do was take our quads to the track. We never had anything set up specifically for the track, just getting an idea of what they would do. We ran on trail tires, no swingarms or wheelie bars. I do remember a few times. I had a Raptor with exhaust, intake, and 1 tooth larger on the front sprocket. It ran a 14.68 @ 81mph Friend had a pretty stock banshee with pipes and a tooth larger that ran a 14.76 @ 80mph I also got a few timeslips with an 89 LT500 that I built. Pretty stock machine. LRD pipe, 39.5 PWK, it ran a 14.22 @ 84mph Never got a chance to run the Banshees that I had, but I expect pretty mediocre times out of them as they were pretty stock. We had a good friend that owned a business at the end of an industrial BLVD in our city. Fri and Sat nights, we would line our cars and quads up, and race till the sun came up. Had a blast. Cant tell you how many bolt on LT1 and 5.0 Mustangs a decent running quad will kill in the 1/8mi. We always ran the unsuspecting car owners in 1/8mi races only. Little did they know, that they would come flying by us at the end of the 1/4th as the quads always had their tounges hanging out a little after the 1/8th mi, even with an extra tooth or 2 in the front. Anyone else ever do this? Post up some times!
  3. After some thought, have decided to pick something up from the Oklahoma area. I can drive there and back in 8 hours, and the selection, quality, and prices are wayyy better there. Im seeing clean, nodded bikes for $2500 or so. Check out these 2 I found http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/mcy/3149429967.html http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/mcy/3132502514.html Much better options than I have in this area.
  4. Believe me, I know all to well that buying what you want, already built is MUCH cheaper than building from scratch. I completely rebuilt 2 LT500s from the ground up. Did not come out ahead on that deal. Lol. Problem is around here, and everything within 300miles. Most people selling used banshees that have been "modded" really dont have a clue how to mod a banshee. They see FMF pipes as top of the line. Most of the ones I see for sale around here have junk pipes, some BS intake setup, and not much else. So, even if I do get one, it would be like id be starting from scratch, as id have to remove all the choad mods. Finding one is not really the problem. There are 10 for sale withing 200mi from me right now. My main concern is where to apply the $1500 in mods. As I said, I have been out of the game for a while, and 8-10years of tech has passed me by.
  5. Oh, trust me, I know the depths that motorsports can make you stoop to. Cars, quads, antique pulling tractors, boats. Done a little bit of all of it. I set myself a budget of $4500 ($3,000 for a bike, and $1500 for mods) Lay it on me!
  6. I made the mistake of going and seeing a friend I havent seen in about 5 years. We used to ride together a lot, and he recently picked up a mild 2003 Banshee. Pipes, heads, ect. So I decided to take it for a spin, and the fever started right back. So, now im on Craigslist looking for Banshees. Im pretty set on a Banshee. The ones I had in the past were sledgehammer reliable, and we all know they mod up great. I really never cared for the smooth power of the modern 4-strokes anyhow. Good handling takes a back seat also. In the past I have owned my slew of 250Rs, banshees, Raptor, and a few LT500s. My question is this. Having been totally out of the loop for a while, I am really behind on performance mods. Handling, and breaking are 2 things that I couldnt care less about in a quad. Straight line performance. Thats it. Top end power, nothing more. No mud ever. Dirt and concrete. Big powerslides, mile long wheelies, drag racing, and top end blasts were more our style. In the past, we always stepped out the front sprocket at least 1 tooth for our style of riding. Also, im not looking to go into the engine. Just bolt ons. That in mind, what would be the first, say, $1500 in mods you would do to a banshee in terms of Pipes, reeds, carbs, and head mods? I always had pretty good luck by taking 30-thous off my stock heads. (We own a machine shop) My past banshees had T5s, reeds, and thats pretty much it. What brand of pipes are the new hottness? Back in the day, it was all about the Toomey T-5s. Do they still hold up to modern design? I want to keep it limited to bolt-ons right now. So, with a stock banshee, and $1500, what direction would you go for more fun factor? Thanks guys.
