Is it necessary to have those white plastic inserts in the carb that sits over the main jet? Just wondering because i disasembled my carbs to do a rebuild and they are not there........

Rebuilt my stock carbs this weekend. I have 340 main jets in them. I remember seeing a white plastic insert over the main jet years ago. Just wondering if its necessary to have those inserts in the carb or can you run without them?

Doin a rebuild and was wondering which way does the stator side crank seal goes? The clymer says the green mark goes to the outside of the crank but there is no mark on the s&k seal. The only thing i can see that lookes different on either side of the seal are the manufacture lettering on the inner part of the seal and outer part of seal on one side, and the other side just has lettering on the inner part of the seal. Anyone can tell me which is the correct way?
