  1. '06 50th Anniversary Edition, FMF Gold Fatty's & Power Core II's, TORS & parking brake off, WB boost bottle, Pro-Flo intake w/foam filter & no lid. 40:1 Amsoil Dominator synthetic oil, premium pump gas.
  2. Good sparks, 50:1 & still rich. Im running ngk br8es plugs, maybe i need to go 1 or 2 steps hotter? Anybody have some knowledge about near 5k ft. elevation tuning for cold weather?
  3. i'll give that a shot with my next mix, check the sparks too, i havent done that yet. thanks!
  4. 40:1 ratio w/Amsoil Dominator synthetic. I looked at that thread & there are a handful of riders at my elevation, but unfortunately theyre all way more modded than i am... i guess my elevation is about that of st.anthony. haha. choke tube is connected fa sho.
  5. Starting to reach my wits end with my jetting... mods & elevation in my signature & im looking for any tiny suggestions on how to get my baby to rip again. i moved down 2 sizes on mains & moved the clip up 1 position from the middle on the needles & left the pilot stock (screws 3 turns out) upon moving from 900ft to 4900ft. she's still really rich & im spitting oil out the silencers & even leaking from where the pipes connect to the head, yet idles & runs OK smaller pilot? main again? I just wanna run right! Ambient temps are super variable right now too... thinking about waiting until winter sets in & then tuning for that. Usually about 10-35 degrees & dry as a bone here in the winter, if that helps. sorry for the spam, just lookin for a lifeline. thanks again fellas.
  6. I have the same mods (except for the overbore) on my 06 & at 480ft in MN i ran 240 mains & stock everything else on the stock carbs w/o tors & it was perfect. as it happens i had similar idle & rpm 'stick' problems too, it turned out my needles were bent at the tips... replaced em & it was 100%. maybe go 250 or 260 on the mains for overbore? hope that helps.
  7. I started at 2 turns out & went from there.. i figured if i had to go more than 4 turns out i would need to go down one size on the pilots. & i guess i said my carb settings at 900ft, but not the parts. stock engine internals & carbs with the tors off. FMF fattys & pcII's, pro-flo airbox w/foam filter & prefilter & no lid.
  8. Welp, i think i got 'er as good as she's gonna get! Did a plug chop with 200 mains & it was too lean so i went with 220's. I havent done a chop with em, but the engine feels good. I kept the stock pilots and moved the clip one position leaner on the needles (2nd from top now) and im at 3.25 turns out on the screws. She's a tad rich at real low rpms (maybe i 'll go 3.75 turns out) but other than that its great. With the +2 teeth (16) front sprocket i can still get 3rd gear wheelies with a little body english... the torque has basically moved down a gear. No more wheelies in 4th like at 900ft, but considering im using my 'Shee as a commuter and a weekend ripper, im pretty ok with it. I was actually thinking about a cool head... if i got different sized domes for different elevations would that help without creating a jetting nightmare?
  9. too rich on the mains if its only bogging on the top end.. what are your plugs lookin like? i ran perfect at 900-1000ft with stock pilot, 230 mains, stock needle & clip & 2 turns out on the screws with similar mods. trying to tune for 4900ft is proving to be a bit of a process though
  10. Yeah duh right? haha. trying that tomorrow.. the 300s didnt really make sense to me but i decided to try the calculator thing. im a pro at carb tear downs now at least
  11. nope, not ported. thanks for the help, im gonna try the stock pilots with the 280 mains in the morning to see if i'll need the 27.5's at all. probably just put the needles & screws back to stock for starters.
  12. anybody running at similar elevation & conditions as Bozeman, MT? just looking for suggestions on how to find my missing power gonna try 280 mains, 27.5 pilots & stock needle & screw settings & go from there. any help from you gods of the twin cylinder would be choice.
  13. I was going off of what the calculator told me, as a start point.. it said 330 which was way rich so i went down to the 300's which is what i originally put in after i added the pipes & other mods. Then i took it to the dealer this past april cuz i couldnt get it to idle (bent needles) and they put in 240's cuz it was rich with the 300's evidently. Thats what i was running in MN & it ran perfectly all summer.
  14. So i brought my 'Shee from MN (elev. 900ft) to MT (elev. 4900ft) and switched the carb settings to 300 mains, needle on clip #4 and air screw 3 turns out. I tried the jetting calculator on here and used 330 mains & it was rich & real shitty on the mid/top end, the 300's seemed to have fixed that & the bottom is pretty crisp too. It runs well, sounds good, and isnt fouling plugs, but the power i had in MN isnt quite all there. I ran 230 mains, stock pilots (25), stock needle and 2 turns out on the screws in MN & it ran just perfect.. tons of power & just peachy. Does the 4000ft increase make that much of a difference in power or should i re-tune?
  15. I didnt mean to sound hurrying, im definitely not in a rush. Take your time!
