well, I took the head off today and found this, cylinder feels completely smooth to me, no big gashes or dings that i can see
-
That's what they are selling for around here. I had a very hard time finding one in good condition for under $2600 on Craigslist or pennswoods. most everything else was beat to shit and back. since I cant seem to get what I want out of it, Im gonna tear it down and will probably start a small parts thread, rebuild it, then sell it. Buckeyeshee21, if I take some of the aftermarket parts off, ill let you know first about the nerf bars
-
I really cant go that low, id rather rebuild it in a few months and sell it than take that big of a loss, but thanks for the offer

$2000 would be my bottom dollar

im selling my 2003 banshee that is excellent condition except it needs a new top end, left cylinder has good compression but the right side doesn't, but it ran great before. could be as simple as a head gasket or rings but i don't have the time or cash to mess with it. all the bearings are tight and all the aftermarket parts are pretty much brand new. Asking $2500 obo, pickup only, located in Pennsylvania.....pm if interested 2003 Banshee Pro circuit platinum's +4 degree key Pro Motion Torrs removal kit Boost bottle / reed spacer CFM air box / dual UNI foam filters Monster graphics XFR nerf bars Moose clutch lever AC grab bar DG bumper 340 mains / needle 3rd clip / 27.5 pilot 1turn Also has a few other add ons and an assortment of jets from 260 up to 360 mains (GRAPHICS ARE DARK RED, SUN MADE THEM LOOK A LITTLE PINK)

I just replaced both of mine a few days ago. I got a piece of string and set the bars straight. tie the string to the back sprocket and wrap it around the back tire until it just touch the side wall of the back tire.... take the string the hole way to the front of your quad and tie it to something heavy so it doesn't move...now you have a straight line to go off of and align the front end ..ive done it to three quads and its worked great for me. mine didn't pull at all.

well, I picked up my banshee and dumped about $900 worth of parts into it to get it looking and running perfect. cylinders had 115 left and 110 right lbs of compression and im at 2200ft so i figured that it was fine. the guy had the jetting a mess and had a 200 main in there with slides in backwards and choke tube disconnect so after putting in a 340 main and a 27.5 pilot 1 turn out she was running amazing for about a 15min ride ( plugs were nice and toasty running 32:1). the next day i went out and started it and it seemed to be smoking more than usual from both cylinders. after going about a mile it was running on one cylinder and after further inspection the right cylinder has 0 lbs of compression!. does anyone have any idea how this could have happened, or did i just get some extremely bad luck ? I am probably going to end up selling it but i might fix it first. I am trying to get an idea of what happened before I tear it apart only to find something that I just don't have the cash to fix. thanks for any help

actually i think i was just used to it. I took it on the trails today and she rips for sure. today was about 35* colder though, so I could possibly be a tad rich for my normal riding temps but im pretty happy with it now. no, my buddy's just had toomey t6 pipes but that was 7 years ago that i road it. im one of the few with a banshee around here, thanks for the help guys!
-
well i got the 340 in and the plugs look nice and toasty. its runs good no sputters or anything like that but it still just doesnt seem like its as fast as it should be in the top end. its rips down low and in the mid so I think its just because i have procricuits and the pipes sign off more than the toomeys my friends banshee use to have.

I got mine all back together and the 310 mains seem to small. it pulls great until you start getting into the top end, the rpm's just stop building and it doesn't pull hard at all plus the plugs arnt getting much color and if anything are grey. I ordered 330's - 350's so ill let you know how that works out. how did yours turn out?
-
I already ordered 330 up to 350 hopefully they will be big enough. I wasn't really paying attention but I didn't notice any hanging rpm at all. it would run great but as soon as you got about a little above half way through the rpm range it would just crap out and stop building rpm. after another run one plug was ever so slightly tinted brown so im thinking a 340 should be about spot on. (I hope)
-
Well I finally got it all back together and i did end up getting a cfm air box. it runs good but it feels like it doesn't have any power on the top end and the plugs are not really getting any color, if anything possibly a little gray. Im running a 310 main right now and all i have thats bigger is a 320. im going put in the 320 but im guessing ill have to order a 330 and 340. Heres a picture of it when i got it and now that its almost done.

im in the same situation, the guy i got my bike off of had 200 mains and 25 pilot and it was still getting a rich reading and running weird. turns out the idiot had the carbs slides in backwards and the choke tube wasnt on. im probably going to run a 310 and 27.5pilot, i think you should be right around there also
-
After reading up on some more posts, the guy had the carb slides in backwards also ... the slanted "half moon" part of the slide is facing towards the engine .
-
ok, im gonna pick up some different jets tomorrow and hopefully they will have 27.5 pilots in stock too. I guess running without the tube connected does richen it up because it would also start in 25 degree weather without the choke first kick and the plugs are pretty black. Thanks for the help, ill post my results.
-
im not worried about the power right now lol, im coming from a 09 YFZ450R and the Banshee would still smoke it. I just need to know if the choke tube being off would cause a rich condition and the guy before me leaned it out because of that. should I go buy a bigger jet size tomorrow. the jetting calculator put me around a 310 main......its a 2003 also
-
I didnt buy the reed spacers they came on it. I ride in the woods but our trails are pretty wide open and I cant get rid of an airbox because there is just to much water and mud around here.
-
I just picked up a banshee last week and ive been in the process of tearing it down and fixing it up. the guy didn't seem to know much about it, from what i can tell it has a pro circuit platinum exhaust, +4 degree key, knn filter, reed spacers, torrs removed and a boost bottle. My problem is that the bike seemed to run rich when i got it and the plugs confirmed that. After i took the carbs apart it only has a 200 main jet with a 25 pilot and the needle on the third clip, plus the air screws look like they are turned way out. the choke tube also was disconnected when I checked. the main seems way to small to me, would having the tube disconnected make it run rich and do you think he jetted it down to a 200main because of that? I think I Should at least be at a 280main. Any advice is appreciated because I wanna ride this thing! Heres what I plan to be running pro circuit pipes +4 degree key reed spacers boost bottle might buy a cfm open air box because mine is cracked and doesn't seal for shit 32:1 mix 2000-2700 altitude
