  1. my one with the same single setup was doing this. i think i put it down to not having enough fuel in the tank. the last time it did it i was in the "on" position on the fuel switch and it did it and i wasnt happy. so i turned it off. then my mate says put it on reserve so i did that and then it was fine. thought i had plenty of fuel in it. also did it a couple of times to discover the fuel was turned off. so i put mine down to the high revving thing all bikes do when they suck that last bit of fuel out before it runs out and die. i was thinking it was a float level problem but after i put it in reserve and then thought about the previous ones i then put it down to being it using the last bit of fuel before the source is cut off. after the reserve turning on time i havent had a problem with it doing it and now have it running perfect. (got the bike not running. replaced cdi and magneto then had this high revving thing) might not help ya. but i thought i had heaps of fuel in it at all times but seems the reserve is at about quarter tank
  2. hi guys. well i got it running after replacing cdi and stator with proper yamaha ones. problem now is it wont go into powerband. i noticed the throttle wouldnt open all the way from having too much slack in it but i fixed that and still believe i have a problem. its has stock pipes and i believe everything else is stock. the carb has a 40 pilot (think its that. maybe was 60. no i dunno) and the main jet is 140. is that too small do yous think for the main? its sorta like when you hear someone giving there bike some herbs when its cold and it doesnt go into powerband properly. i think ive had mine all the way up to temp but it still acts as if its like a cold powerband sorta thing. any ideas?
  3. rings may have stuck/frozen from sitting around. think they can spring back sometimes and be good again
  4. hi guys. im trying to sort out my no spark problem. i have a 1993 banshee. i just bought a yamaha cdi and stator off a guy and also got the wiring harness to suit the newer stuff instead of changing the plugs on them. the cdi has one extra wire on the new type one. whats the difference? can i just put all the new stuff on the bike so it operates as if its a newer bike? just then il have a problem with the front plugs and at the front of the wiring harness it has the key switch removed. but the other plugs for the other kill switch are different. what do i do? if i dont want any of the lights just the kill switch what colour wires is it? what wires would i use if i just want to put a dirtbike type kill switch on it. no lights or any other crap thanks mates
  5. any more input into weather the 11.6 ohms reading on the stator is too low for it to work? ment to be 13.5-20.5 or something. would you expect it to work but just produce weaker spark maybe?
  6. yeah il get original stuff sometime. is anyone selling any oem parts that will send them to australia? would my low resistance reading on the stator make it not work?
  7. hi guys. im new here. i bought a banshee 1993 model last week in non running condition. so i took it home and checked for spark straight away. it had spark. i think it might not hae been putting out enough sparks as it should at first maybe but then when i kept trying it was sparking alot more. and it was strong spark. tested with my hand a few times. so i ruled out spark as the non running problem and pulled off the carby and full cleaned it out. (single carb conversion).' then put it back on and it wouldnt go still. so checked for spark again and now its go no spark at all. wondering whats going on. i first thought i had maybe bumped a wire but after reading the problems on here i dunno. i believe it has a rm stator stator, coil and 10 setting cdi. all rmstator. i resistance tested the stator. the pickup coil part was within spec. the ignition coil bit was 11.3 ohms instead of the 13.7-20.5 ohms its ment to be within. but being a aftermarket one i dunno if 11.3 is acceptable? the coil got tested at the shop on whatever machine they use and they said its not up to spec but they said it should still make a spark. but if it was on a running bike itd break down at high revs. but there testing it on another banshee tomorrow to rule it out totally. so can i get some input on what might be going on please guys? would love to get the thing going. my first quad was a 200cc china 4 stroke one lol. now i have a proper one and cant wait for the fun.
