  1. I was out at the dunes this past weekend ripping around on the banshee which has been dead nuts reliable and running great for a couple years now. I rebuilt the motor (2) years ago (stock cylinder 4 mil w/ HJR porting) and haven't had a single issue, granted I probably only have a few hours of run time on the motor since then but that's besides the point. After about 25 minutes of riding I shut it off to watch some races. After a few minutes decided to head back to the trailer and the banshee wouldn't start. Usually it fires right up on the first kick after its warm so I immediately knew something was up. Kicked it for a few minutes and then reluctantly gave in and got towed back to the trailer. Got back and found that it had no spark. Pulled out the ohm meter and everything tested out perfect (coil, stator & pickup). Swapped coils with a buddy just to makes sure it wasn't the issue and same his fired up instantly with my coil. It was near the end of the day so I through it on the trailer and rode the 450 the rest of the day. The next day just for shits and giggles I kick it a few times and it fires right up like nothing is wrong. shut it down and restarted it a few times and it acted perfect. Took it for a few laps and once warm the same result. no spark. Decided to try pull starting it and it fired right up. Rode the rest of the weekend just push/pull starting it when I wanted to ride and it behaved perfect. So to summarize my long post. Starts perfect with the kick start when cold. After running for about 15-20 minutes it loses spark when trying to kick it over but fires up instantly when pulled or push started. All electronics are factory yamaha . Banshee is a 92 so I couldn't swap CDI's with my buddy as the plugs were different. Any idea's?
  2. Just posted in your other thread. Make sure you have the bowls on the correct carb. If they are backwards the choke will not work. The bowl that has a jet in the bottom goes on the choke carb.
  3. Make sure you have the carb bowls on the correct carb. If they are swapped the choke will not do anything.
  4. Couldn't be more impressed with Jeff's craftsmanship as well as timely delivery. Called him on a Friday, he sent me a picture of the completed cover that Sunday and it was in the mail on Monday. It might not be as wild as some of his other covers but it goes great with my bike. Couldn't be happier!
  5. Thanks for all of the compliments. I just finished painting the plastics white a few days ago. They were grey and looked ugly as hell IMO and while I was at it decided to trim the rear fenders (mostly so there would be less surface to paint ) If anyone is going to be at Silver Lake May 4th-6th and see my bike stop and say hello. Going to be with a group of about 10-15 people with a few other Banshee's as well.
  6. Been lurking on the site for about 6 months and haven't really posted anything at all. Thought I would introduce myself and post a few pics of the Banshee I purchased last fall i found on Craigslist. Later on I found it was also listed on this site but for some reason the Complete Bikes for sale forum only shows topics posted this year and doesn't show any older ones. The previous owner told me it was originally setup for the ice races but I have no clue how true that is. Heading up to Silver Lake in 2 weeks and can't wait to get out in the open and see what this things got. I've owned alot of 2 stroke dirtbikes growing up along with some sand rails but first time with quad. Anyways some of the mods done to it that I know of are: Vitos 370cc big bore kit (Yes I realize they don't have the greatest rep but oh well, I'll run it till it dies) 160psi compression (not sure if the head has been shaved or not but it does have the factory head still on it) Keihin 34mm PJ carbs with K&N pods and outerwears Billet intake Boyseen Reeds FMF Fatty pipes Timing plate Billet water pump Billet clutch basket Works Dual Rates And a few pics (apologize for the shitty cell phone pics but it's all I have at the moment) Looking forward to hanging around and possible riding with a few of you
  7. Before you go and start taking things apart do you quick test and see if your still getting spark.
  8. There are some people that shouldn't breed and these people are some of them!
