Wish you had shot a reply yesterday, thats a good idea on seeing his old pistons! But he dropped it off yesterday and took honda with him. I might do a 110/93 mix atleast. Gonna compression test today.
From what I gather it has
-Works ressie shocks in the front. Shock cover on rear so didn't see what it was
-All vito performance stuff on it by the sounds of it
-Their 404 big bore kit
-Something with the crank was done, don't remember what he said. Stroker kit perhaps? I'm new to this heavy of modifying so gotta wrap my head around what mods do what.
-Hemi heads
-Coolhead
-FMF Silencers, don't know which yet
-Pipes, again, dunno which yet
The bad:
-overall the bike looks to be in rough shape. Seat cover is half gone
-bars look beat-ish
-plastic in rough shape
-rust here and there
-frame is bit gross looking. black with dents and marks al over
-a arms look rough
-rear tires completely bald and fronts not that far behind
-rims have few dent marks around the lips
-shocks look like they've been on there awhile. Rebuild soon?
-he told me reeds should be replaced soon as it flutters near the top end
So machine was definitely rode hard and put away wet many times in its life. Only thing giong for it is its a 2000 model so its only 10 years old, instead of..well you know how old they can get. Looks like he spent most his money into motor work than the actual bike. for better or worse. But this is all off the 10 minutes we talked around it yesterday. I pulled it off and left it next to my other quad.
I read around the site here about vito. Was seeing stuff i don't like to see, as far as recommendations. The guys that were iffy about it were the ones saying "my cousin's brothers friends dad had them and i heard they aren't great" While the guys that actually have vito's parts in their machine find them a very worthwhile buy. It was good to read the one about the guy knowing the owners/workers (dunno which), personally and has had all vito parts for 4 years no issues.
I read stuff like this on his website
Leading me to believe this motor CAN run on pump gas? I might email them later, and maybe he has order information still for the guys name he'd give me.
I'll toss some pics in this thread later today. I guess it's only had a half a tank of gas gone through it. Sounds like they were just getting bored with it more than it was causing them a headache. But I'll give it a ride. Run and get some 110/93 mix. We have 110 turbo blue a few minutes away at citgo. Yes I know turbo blue sucks, and I know it will not be true 110 since lord knows how infrequently they have to refilll those tanks.
Last question. When it comes time to sell this (wont be long), is there more value parting out? Craigslist, I see theres about 30 bansees within a 5 hour radius of a drive It'd be up against. Most stockers, a couple big bores. All ranging from 1800 to 4000 (for like a 2004 with big bore, swing arm, a arm, etc etc)
PS. This thought of turning around and selling isn't as much to do with it being a banshee, as much as how rough shape it is overal, so lord knows what condition (even if on a "fresh top end), the motor is in or how long this thing will last. Can only imagine nothing has been lubed or replaced ever. Probably has been tumbled a few times considering he mention he recommends not driving it drunk cuz it so fast. Don't wan to ride around on a possible timebomb. Don't like knowing what the time frame on parts on this build, with no paper work, done in his garage (or backyard). That isn't a shot at those type of ppl though! I work in my yard as i live in a rental haha.
