  1. Mostly Dunes. Milled head .03 0ver Bored cylinders 10 over medium port love the pipes ... just wondering if there is something else out there.
  2. I have Duncan High Rev pipes... are the newer brands that much better - or should I keep what I have? Suggestions? Opinions? Thank you!
  3. Hey guys ... I am looking to get the most out of my banshee this summer and need some help determining the best route to go. I have: Duncan High Rev Pipes K&N Filter (no lid) Milled Head .030 over new Reeds 27.5 Pilot Jet 330 Main Jet Bored Cylinders 10 over New stock Pistons & Rings Medium Port to match 110 Octance Fuel Here are my questions: 1. With stock carbs ... Am I getting all the power I can out of my banshee? 2. Should I move to 30 or 34 mm carbs? If so ... any recommendations on brand? How will I benefit from the new carbs? 3. If I go up in Carbs ... will I be able to use the same Jets I use for the stock carb? If so ... what Jetting should I use? 4. With the head milled .030 .... is that optimal? With the high rev pipes I wasn't sure what the max milling should be? 5. I replaced the Reeds -- but should I have replaced the Reed Cages? If so -- what will that dofor me? Thanks guys!! Mimi
  4. should i base the jetting only on the plug check? I am running 330's ... and not sure how big to go with the new mods. Thanks
  5. I did about 3 heat cycles... then ran her for a few hours on the trails. Runs GREAT!!! She starts on the first or second kick ... but I am getting a littl more white smoke then I expected to see. Is this normal?? Also --- I rented a compression tester --- and tested it after the heat cycles but before riding it --- and it only shows 30 psi ..... How is this possible?? Is it a bad tester?? HELP!!!!
  6. Hi guys ... everyone has been so great helping me get my Banshee in great running order! Now I need some help on how to properly break in my new Top End. I have: Duncan High Rev Pipes, K&N filter (no lid), milled head .030 over, new reeds, 27.5 Pilot Jet, 330 Main Jets, 110 Octane Fuel, etc.... SO ~ I decided to Bore my Cylinders 10 over, new Pistons & rings and a medium Port to match. I am just finishing putting it back together & want to RIDE! Now I want to make sure I break it in -- and not blow it up! Please let me know your thoughts! Thanks!! Mimi
  7. In Michigan ... at about 800 ft asl
  8. Does anyone know what the comparison in compression would be --- If I have bored cylinders 10 over with a prodesign cool head using 18cc domes.... and getting a compression of 160. What would be the comparison of this to Milling a stock head?? .010 / .020 / .030 over???? Thanks!!!
  9. No exhaust leaks ... I did end up swapping out the reeds .... and she started on the 1st kick!!!!! what a headache -- but always worth it when it finally runs great! Thanks everyone!!
  10. LOL... ummm yeah -- stock exhaust seems a bit stupid --- but I had Duncan High Revs on it & swapped those over to my 1998 Banshee ok -- carbs are cleean --- float bowls are on correctly --- spark plugs are carmel brownish in color --- pilot jets are stock 25's --- air screws are at 1.5 turns out When I did a spark test -- it was whiteish in color I understand everyone thinks my mains are too big --- but since my spark plug check shows a good color -- I thought I would be ok. Even if the mains are too big -- how does that impact a starting issue? ??? If I jet down --- where would you suggest I jet too?? 250's?? lower?? Thanks!!!!
  11. Ok ... here we go ~ 95 banshee new top end with cool head boost bottle cylinders bored 10 over & ported new air filter (cover removed) main jets 280 stock exhaust new spark plugs ~ both getting spark plug check looks good compression 160ish on both It takes me about 20 or so kicks to get this thing started -- after it has been sitting over night Runs great once it is started ---- but I can't fihure out what the heck is going on. Cleaned out the carbs just to make sure --- and they looked good .... BUT I noticed that the reeds don't fit tight --they have a slight gap. No cracks - just not a tight seal like my other banshee. I flipped them -- but didn't make a difference--still a slight gap. Is it possible that the reeds are causing this starting issue?? Any other ideas??? Please help -- THANKS!! Mimi
  12. Ok guys ... have a problem starting it cold -- she just doesn't want to start for about 8-10+ kicks. It has just been rebuilt: cylinders bored 10 over, 18cc domes with cool hea, new pistons & rings, ported, compression is 160, stock exhaust, new spark plugs, stock pilot jets, 280 main jets, air filter no lid, spark plugs look good after mild & agressive riding. After she is started -- she runs like a dream!! Any ideas???? Thanks!
  13. Anyone know what the max mill should be? Thanks!
  14. Need some opinions on fuel for my Banshee. Stock motor milled .030, 300 main jets, Duncan High Rev pipes I was running 93 Octane ... and was told that I should run 100 octane. However -- I can't buy 100 octane in my town -- only 110 octane. Can I mix half 93 & 110 to get the same effect? or -- what is your opinion on running 110? Thanks!
  15. Thanks for the info --- I am also on the 3rd notch on the needle... should I move it to the 4th?
  16. Head milled .030 ... Duncan High Rev's ... 300 main jet .... 25 stock pilot jet .... 15 tooth front sprocket (just changed from 14 - first riding after change) .... 93 octane fuel Having a problem about half way through the RPM range -- just seems slightly boggy ... then when it hits over half way in the range -- she FLYS!!! Could this be from he 15 tooth sprocket change? Thinking the 15 tooth might just be giving me a lot more power on the top end. I did a spark plug check with mild riding - and it looks perfect. Anyone have any ideas? Main jet change? Pilot jet change? Reed issue? Sprocket? Also ---- anyone who is thinking of milling their head --- DO IT!! This banshee is SCREAMIN'!!!! THANKS!!!!!
  17. Tha aluminum u shaped pipe ...
  18. Does anyone know if the connector pipe between the carbs is necessary? has anyone ever removed it?? What are the pro's & con's?? Thanks!!!
  19. Anyone have any idea how much it should cost to weld & true my crank?? Thanks!!
  20. Hello all .... need some help please. Have a 98 Banshee -- Duncan High Rev's, K&N air Filter and a Stock motor ... Just had the Head Milled .030 Question 1: Since I removed the Head Gasket --- can it be reused? If so --- does it need sealer? Someone asked me if it was a "crush" gasket --- and I have no clue how to tell. Question 2: I want to replace the Pistons, Rings & Bearings ... Any recommendations? Thanks!!!
  21. Gonna test it again .... to make sure. It is the screw on type...which is a pain to put on. Do you know anything about the reeds? 1 seemed to "stick" to the cage a bit. tried to flip it around -- and of course dropped it & COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHICH WAY TO TURN IT. What will a new top end run me??
