Hi guys,
I bought a slightly modified 2005 a few months ago and it runs great. The TORS was removed by the original owner and I recently decided to switch over to a thwist throttle kit. I noticed the last time I took the bike out of my trailer, the throttle rised up a few thousand RPM's and with a quick blip of the throttle it would return back to an idle...SOMETIMES. I figured the thumb throttle was worn or the cables were binding and decided to switch over to twist like I wanted to anyway......I bought the complete kit from pro motion (twist throttle, new cable that biforcates into two, two new caps).
I am pretty mechanically inclined and have worked on my stuff for years. I even went as far as measuring the return springs within the slides and all is good. I made sure and meticulously routed the cables as to prevent any steer throttle stretch etc etc. I assembled everything and it worked great.....Problem Solved.....wrong!
I rode the bike for a few hours at Pismo without incident and all of a sudden the high revving started again...I though WTF?!?!? I am assuming I have a carbeurator issue since everything from the caps up is brand new.
****Note****
I did notice something odd.....the slides instead of being the uniform aluminum color, they both had some black scuff marks on a few sides. They were not rough like they were scratched but in all my years with bikes I have never seen slides with that disoloration........ but mechanically they worked flawless so I assembled and didnt worry about it.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what is happening with my bike?
Any help would be greatly appreicated.
Thanks
Joe
