  3. So I just purchased a leak down tester kit... I'm a little confused on how to do this properly... any one have a how to? Or have a link for one .. I searched forums but can't really seem to find in detail how to do the test and what to look for

  5. Also since I am not that mechanically sound... Before I take out the carb and jets ... Could the fact that the seal where the right header connects and the pipe connects are leaking pretty bad be the reason is isles rough and is smoking and shooting some oil ?   6. Well I haven't had time to take it apart yet... Freezing here In nY and my garage isn't heated but I turned it on today and I think I found an issue Got oil leaking and smoking out the right cylinder ... Smh idle is only getting worse on right side... Got some serious back fire and sometimes it sounds like it's not even running ... Except if gassed ... So I just did a compression test… I'm getting 127 in the left cylinder and 125 in the right cylinder so compression seems to be fine on Tuesday I'll be takingapart the Jets and checking the Jets and also be doing a leak down test hopefully you'll check so I also took a couple of pictures but can't seem to upload them because the site is saying they are too large..also I'm not sure what is supposed to be stock on the bike and what is not. As far as I can tell the bike has a pro circuit exhaust on it
  9. I'm in the Hudson valley, any nice places to ride down there ? ... I'll be pulling it apart with in the next couple of days.. I'll take pics and post them and hopefully I can be advices of the most efficient jets because I'm not too familiar with them

  11. Hey all I just picked up a 2000 banshee, seems to be in decent shape. I'm looking to make a project out of it eventually maybe by next winter but I want to get the first season Down ripping it up a little .. I've ridden 4 strokes my whole life and always had shops service my machine .. That gets expensive though so I was looking at taking this on all by myself ... I just want this thing to be in 100% mechanical shape before I ride it hard ... I've never bought anything used and I'm not quiet a wiz with an engine ... The bike seems to ride fine .. Idles pretty well.. But shuts off by itself after 7-10 min ... Then again I'm in ny and it was -1 today.. Not sure if that's normal for the bike... Seems to be running a bit rich on the right side... When I rev the bike and put my hand on the muffler I'll get some oil on my hand but not out the left .. Guy I bought it from said it only had 6 hours on the top and bottom end after rebuild... Starts up first kick maybe 2 ... When I rev it it seems to really be a bitch and putt around until it hits power band then all hell breaks loose... Not really use to that I use to have an 08 raptor 700 and that thing was torque city... Any suggestions for the bike though? What could be causing the oil coming out the pipe? He told me since it was only the 2nd tank of gas after the rebuild that he ran a little different mix 28:1 ratio but he told me on my next tank to put 32:1 ? What should I check? What should compression be? Any bold and bits sets I should invest in to make sure everything is secure? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated ... I know the very basics with small engine mechanics so please put it in dummy language for me lol ..
  12. hey does any one know how much it would cost to rebuild the engine of a banshee? top end? bottom end? if you fully blow the motor can it still be fixed?

  16. hey any one know where i can get a set of nice looking plastics for relatively cheap? 01 banshee.. the plastics i have now are really scratched up and i know my new ones are going to get scratched as i mostly do trail riding but i would like it to look nicer.

The banshee takes it hands down, and im sorry but i have one last question as I just mad a trip to the bike shop.. i bought 80w/85w hi performance transmition oil, im going to do a quick oil change as i am not sure when the last time they changed the oil was, is this the right oil? is so do i put the whole bottle will i need more then one bottle.. its .946 lieter or 36 oz how ever is best for you to understand. and for the gas mixture i purchased 100% synthetic racing oil HP2 premix ratio 32:1 is this ok? thanks again
  18. thanks guys now like i said, i dont know much about the engine are there some things i should instantly check for, tightness anywhere?, make sure smoke and air come out of both exhuast?, probobly going to do an oil change, any input would be appreciated, Im really interested on getting into riding quads i just want to make sure im on a safe machine, wont get stuck anywhere or do any damage that is not fixable
  19. Hey all so first off im brand new to the site my name is erick. So i just bought an 01 banshee yesterday, never road one before although i have been on dirtbikes and i have a gsxr 750 street bike. Ive been watching videos on youtube and i knew i needed a banshee lol.. when i was picking it up yesterday i test road it for the first time, it has some mods done to it.. a jettkit , its bored 30 over and cpi pipes. so i get on it and punch it in first gear and when this thing hit power band it almost backflipped me ... so i kick it in second .. same thing it almost through me off and same thing in third... i never got it in to 4th as there was not enough room... im assuming the pistons are in pretty decent shape because that power band kicks in like a monster and on my dirt bikes it pretty much had no powerband when the pistons fried. now i dont know much about engines so i kick started it again when i got home and let it idle and it idled nice.. but now i ask what should i look out for? how will i know when my carbs need cleaning, how will i know if my pistons are going other then there is no more powerband or is that the only way? and also could some one tell me the oil and gas mixture i need to use, and is there anything else i need to check out to make sure that the bike is running right and the way it should. Thanks alot guys..
