i'll never understand what would cause someone to put their asking price in the add and then also say what the minimum they'd take is, unless they just reallly hate bargaining

The shine isn't quite show room quality but it's definitely better than it was before IMO

me and my brother spent about 2 and a half hours on it

I decided to try polishing my plastics rather than buying new so i went for it today.
i started with red automotive scotch brite pad to get the big stuff out
then wet sanded with 600 grit, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000, and then polished with 3m rubbing compound, and 3m finesse it 2 finishing material.
They came out pretty well, they are nice and white, but not perfect.
My only complaint is that wherever there was a sticker would not get any better, those spots are still very dull, even where my ORV sticker was for only 8 months, not sure why this is, but i'm satisfied and will run the plastics like this for awhile.
here's some pics, they dont really capture the sheen very well but it's there

how much for the whole set of plastics shipped to 49002?
-
Yeah I told him I would buy it and then he sold it out from under me after agreeing on a price. Thanks for the heads up though haha

Looking to get stock length round housing swinger. Let me know what you have, I'm flexible
-
Here ya go guys . One note though;
I like to place a socket extension between the lift wheels & lift plate and then release the pressure on the jack. Just keeps pressure off the actual lift.
It's not nessassary but I figure it will last longer without the constant weight on the lift assembly.
My hubs are lookin pretty good on there troy

you guys got me second guessing now, but i'm too lazy to take it apart and return it, and too cheap to spend more on the better one, so i'll probably just see what happens haha

Saw that the craftsman atv lift was on sale for $101 from sears today so i picked one up.

first impression is it's pretty awesome, haven't used it much yet but everything seems awesome, would definitely reccomend

I want to hear how you figured this out??
i was thinking the exact same thing. if my bike didn't start laying it on the grab bar would probably be the last thing i did

i Knew mine were worn out on my '87 when i had the lower one pop out of the a arm and i went cartwheeling across the dunes.
In all seriousness though, mine are terrible, if i grab the wheel and shake it there's a ton of play, if you dont notice that then maybe you're fine.

I have the same problem. Would love a good fix
-
that's probably a good idea

ive got a bent durablue axle, i'm not sure how bad it's bent, looks to be about an eigth inch of travel up/down on the end, i'll measure it more precisely tomorow.
durablue said they can straighten them for $80 dollars if it's bent less than 186 thousandths.
Does anyone know how they bend them back and if i could try it myself? i have axcess to a decent machine shop

Hubs are gone

can you send a pic?

I have a set of Tusk extended hubs, they're plus 1.5" each, so it adds a total of 3".
They're too wide for me, i just want a set of stock offset ones.
i'd consider selling, but rather trade for stock offset hubs.

Are there any advantages of the Stellar j-arms over the stock banshee j-arms? Although the stock j-arms on my '88 are in great shape still, I was wondering if there would be any advantage to going with the Stellar units over the stock j-arms. Thanks.
I probably wouldn't buy new arms if my ball joints weren't worn out, but the ones on the stock arms aren't replaceable so i basically have to upgrade, and going wider is always nice for stability
-
Thanks guys. I'll call stellar today
-
That was the route I was planning on going, I just hope it doesn't cost an arm and a leg
-
So i recently did a rebuild on an 87 banshee, and i love it. However, when i was riding at silver lake last year i had a ball joint pop out of the lower arm and rolled it end over end, so clearly the ball joints are worn out.
There's all sorts of play in the front suspension, and I need to fix it to make it safe, but i'm not sure what route to go.
1)Cheapest rout would probably be replacing everything with stock parts, but i'd like to go wider, and i dont think using stock parts is a good solution anyway.
2)I could also get new J arms made by Stellar which would require a lot of other parts
3) i could do an a arm conversion kit
4) i could get an a arm frame for a decent price from a local guy
What would you guys do and why?
-
been looking for quite some time, dont expect to find any, but i really want some wider j arms, but i dont wanna spend the money for brand new ones, if anyone knows anything at all that'd be sweet.
polished my 87 plastics today
