  1. That's it's boys. Come out of hiding and show them the Aussies are here.

There is a Australian atv forum ww.ozatv.com but it takes days for people to reply in threads. Pretty shit. Can't beat BHQ.

ozatv are banshee haters they all ride four pokes! fuck the four strokes give me a 2 stroke banshee any day..

  2. no abo owns anything !

they just steal it, the fuckers. :)

I dont comment much hear as i feel i cannot contribute to the forum. most of the members here have forgotten more about Banshees than i will ever know!!!!!

an aussie section sounds like a great idea to me,

  3. before this i had a 700 raptor se with a few mods and tha wasnt to bad

i do enjoy the banshee but happy to buy everything brand new (few bad experences with second hand car parts ect)

im from Perth plenty of riding spots here but always wanted to ride in the snow somewhere

have ordered the bits i need so excited to see how different the bike is now

not really sure what to do next, possibly shocks

I hear you about the second hand parts, I was very nervous about buying second hand parts from the other side of the world from someone on a forum. but i couldn't be happier great parts at a great price.

  4. Hey Kamikaze, where are you from in Aus? I am from Adelaide SA.

If you want to save some coin, give Nyuk a member here a pm for some quality second hand parts at the right price. I have bought pipes and stuff from him and saved a shit load, :)

Have fun on the Banshee, I have had mine for 12 months now having wanted one for years. most fun you can have with your pants on..

  5. Pretty keen to put a temp gauge on my shee after boiling it a couple of times. Has anyone used these Davies Craig temp gauge caps. are they accurate and work or a waste of money.

if they are a good thing what pressure would you recommend.

    thanks in advance.

  6. my mates who know about more bikes than me said they checked the head gasket and that it was ok. Have checked the hoses around and have found a few places where there is a little wetness, so it might be a tear or hole somewhere in the hose. Also, the guy i bought it off had an air filter but it had like holes in the bottom of it, so it could fit in the air box, since the air box has like little prongs, so im guessing he needed to make the holes on the air filter in order to make it fit into the air box? Does anyone have a picture of an OEM air filter, not sure if i want holes in mine.

You definitively do not want holes in the air filter, nothing will blow your motor quicker than sand and dust getting into it. Just get a new filter, cheap insurance!!

  7. hey mate, welcome to the best banshee site on the net. sorry i cannot help you with the coolant leak but someone here will help you. I am bit of a neeb to Banshees also although i have had all sorts of bikes and the Banshees are a piece of piss to work on, and the most fucken fun you can have with your pants on :jesterlaugh:

the best advise I can give is get a Clymers manual and if you need any used parts hit up nyuk a member here. If you need new parts hit up a site sponsor and they will hook you up, even with freight you will be miles ahead of buying the parts in Australia. I have used FAST and Nyuk and they are both great to deal with.

where abouts in Australia are you from?

  8. Yes you do. Without it, the filter would get so covered in sand and sand would get into the carbs and engine. I rode mine with the lid on once and it was a k n and no outwears and sand got into the intake, carbs and cylinders. Run a outerwears and you should be good.

I dont get it, banghead If sand gets thru a K&N dust must go thru it like it is not even there? I run a K&N with outerwear should i only use this for sand and change to a foam filter for dusty conditions??

  9. Howdy,

I am currently running Motul trans oil and are wanting to change to trans fluid type f (Is this the right one to use??) as the price of the Motul is stupid here, would I have to flush the trans or can i just drain and top up with the trans fluid.

  10. Gotta get myself one of those testers! But in the mean time I use paddles pop sticks, Just put one in each throat until they hit the needles and you can see from the side very easily if the slides are in sync as the paddle pop sticks extend what you could normally see by eye. hope that makes sense, Sorry it is the best i can explain it!

  11. probably have not explained it very well. Not really trying to achieve anything thing other than trying to get a understanding of jetting and how fussy you have to be about it. Like does one size wrong really make that much difference.

    thanks for the replies.

  12. Howdy, how many jet sizes would you have to be out to blow up a motor? and how many jet sizes wrong can you get away with or do you need to have exactly the right size for best performance and engine longevity.

EG: having 300 mains but it is a little lean and probably requires 310's would this hurt a motor??

  13. Haha, I like how you give us an entire paragraph on how you are beating the hell out of your car running the tach up past your engines redline and then proceed to tell us you don't know what happened or what went wrong.

So, here's what I assume happened. Since you stated you were only a couple of blocks out from your house, I can gather that the engine and all its fluids are not even close to operating temp. Then You ham on it all the way past redlilne with full boost and your aluminum pistons start to swell with heat. Unfortunately, the 302 block is Iron and it won't heat up as quick under these conditions. Your piston becomes bigger than the hole it reciprocates in (I hate it when that happens).

If it is a stock block, I would first pull the intake manifold and inspect for hairline cracks (or gaps) in the casting running down the oil valley somewhere. A stock 5.0L roller block is the lightest (yay) but weakest (boo) of the FoMoCo small blocks as far as block strength. They are known to stress and fracture down the oil valley parallel with the camshaft. Anything over 450hp-to me- is considered a ticking time bomb on a stock roller 5.0L. Anyway, after inspection, I would proceed to pull the heads and any other heavy parts followed by disconnecting the engine from the car. Pulling the heads will reveal cylinder scoring and or broken parts. Check the heads over, a white valve indicates issues in its coresponding cylinder. Then pull the block and separate the oil pan to inspect your rods and crank.

If this block is still able to be used, have it blueprinted and have your rotating assembly (if it is functional) balanced by a reputable shop.... and then invest in better tires/rear end/suspension components so you get traction instead of 4th gear spinning! haha, post up some pics of the carnage man.

Also, even if the block still measures within spec, it would be real wise to step up to an aftermarket block (unless you already have an aftermarket block, then ignore me).

this is farken hilarious, what a great description :headbang:

I nearly spat my beer all over my computer when i read this 'Your piston becomes bigger than the hole it reciprocates in (I hate it when that happens)'

sorry to hear about the cobra dood, A cobra with a big block is my dream car!!

  14. Bought some pipes and filters of john, Great parts and recieved in 8 days to Australia fucking amazing, Cannot get parts from down the road that quick here in Australia,

To say I was nervous sending cash to someone on a forum on the other side of the planet that i don't even know is a understatement, but was easy as and would buy of him again..
