  1. No the Toomey pipes were on it when I got it. Its been running alright. The only thing I noticed was the carb overflow hoses would leak gas sometimes, there would be a little wet gas spot on floor of the shop in the morning. I was putting a thumb throttle on it. I set the floats to 21mm. It has 280 mains and 25 pilots and ran fine. The only things I changed was the syncing the carbs, and I adjusted the pilot airscrews to the setting from the toomey web site. They were at 11/4 turns I set them to 11/2 turns. since then I have set them back to 11/4 turns. I will get back to ya once I ride it and see if it smokes again from the exaust joints. I had polished all the aluminum, and the exaust, maybe I got polish on the rubber joints and it was burning off. Thanks
  2. Nope do not think its coolant. My bike does not have the overflow tank under the seat that is in the manual. and the smoking rubber is under the seat area..
  3. I synced my carbs by the site window after installing a new throttle cable. I think they are in sync but could not see in the window well. Now the bike is running good, real good. When I parked it, it seemed kind of hot, the black hoses between the toomey exaust parts were smoking, not leaking smoke, smoking like they were hot. I had rode it hard, but am worried its running lean because its running good other than the smoking from the exaust. Can the carbs be out of sync and causing it to be lean? Thanks
  4. I have an 02 Banshee with toomey pipes and K&N filters on it. It is jetted with 280s and 25 pilots. I just bought it and it had a twist throttle. I just changed it to a thumb throttle, and resynced the carbs. A couple times when it was parked with the gas on it would leak fuel from the overflow tube, so while it was apart I raised the floats to 21mm. I also checked the airscrews and they were 1 and a 1/4 out so I set them to 11/2 out. Now here is my questiion, I just test road it and its running real good, but when I parked it there was a small amount of smoke coming from the black hoses in the middle of the tommey T5 exaust. Not smoke like leaking, smoke like its very hot. I also noticed it was a little harder to start, it started and died a couple times before it started running good. Are the toomeys suppose to have black hose in the middle under the seat? Has anyone had it smoke like that before. I am scared its running lean due to my tinkering on it, because its running real good. Also I changed the angled air jet thats on the air fliter side of the carbs from 11/4 turns to 11/2 turns out because thats the setting on the toomey site. did that lean it out? Please help I do not want to blow it up. Thanks
  5. I got a 02 banshee with Toomey T5 pipes and the silencer also has toomey stickers on them. I need spark arrestors to be legit where I ride. Does the Toomey exaust have spark arrestors in it? If not what is the best way to add spark arrestors? Thanks
  6. What is the visual differance? How do I tell you which one I have? what am I looking for? Thanks
  7. I have stock carbs with tors removed and motion pro twist throttle. I bought the thumb throttle piece that goes on the handle bars. Do I use a stock cable now or what. With the tors removed and caps on the carbs isnt the cable diffent now? How do I get a cable that will fit?
  8. oh yeah I have a motion pro twist throttle on there and ordered a use thumb trottle I thougth was stock (it says banshee on top in polished aluminum) will the motion pro cable set up just hook up to the thumb throttle?
  9. Can I change my bike from a twist back to a thumb throttl with out syncing the carbs? Thanks
  10. I think my chain is loose. I ordered a book, but I would like to know where to measure and adjust it. It has a white plastic chain roller thing on top the swing arm on the left side looking from the back. it also has the two adjustment screws on the back axle. Where do I measure the slack and is their a specific proceedure to adjust it. Thanks
  11. Hey guys thanks for the help. I solved the problem. The jetting was fine. Even though I had put new plugs in it. One of the plugs went bad. It would not supply spark at idle but would work once it was up on the rpms. Aleast that is what I think it was. I took the plugs out and cleaned them and when I put them back in and started it I noticed the sound had changed. I realized I had moved the problem so I put new plugs in it again and its running fine. Thanks for the help.
  12. Yeah thats true the only thing that is different is I washed it. When I first ran it after washing it ran like shit for a couple days, but I did not run it long. It would act like the trottle was stuck and backfire. I then took the carbs off and cleaned them. I then ran it and got it hot but the off idlle bog did not go away. Since I am new to banshees, I was amazed at the top end power so it may have had the bog all along. I only rode it a few times before I washed it, but my gut says the bog is new. The tors is removed, and I do not know where to check for the wires. I saw on top of the heads there are 2 plugs that are not connected to anything. Is that where the the tors use to plug in?
  13. What do you mean if my needle is way to lean it will bog gasping for air? it does bog and kinda is gasping. By needle i assume you mean the setting on the needle you mentioned above? What would make it do that if the setting are the same as they have been for awhile. the last owner lives not far away and I asked him about jetting and he said it was jetted by a shop and ran fine for him. what else could mimic the neddle being wrong if it was right before and I havent changed it?
  14. I bought an 02 banshee, ran ok for awhile then I washed it and it ran like shit. Some guys on here told me to clean the carbs. I did that today and its running better, but still bogs a little off idle. I am at sea level or real close and its around 50 to 70 degrees here usually. The bike has toomy pipes on it and K&N precharger filters. It has the tors removed and a twist throttle. It starts on the first kick but as I said it bogs at low rpm. I read a really good jetting info sheet that says I should be running 340 mains and 30 pilots. My jets right now are 280 mains and 25 pilot. I would like to know what jets you think I should be using. Next on the carbs it has the taped idle screws in it and it has a brass screw coming in at an angle at the rear edge of the carbs. What are they and how should they be set? Thanks for any info in advance.
  15. Hi I am new to your site and banshees. I bought an 02 and it ran fine for a few days. Once it acted like the trottle was stuck. I went mudding a couple days ago and it was fine. When I got home I washed it now its wanting to act like the throttle is stuck often and its backfiring and pinging kind of. As far as I can tell the only mods is has is the tors removed and a longer swing arm. I did notice on the bottom of each carb there appears to be a hose missing and figure this is where water got in the carbs. My question is what do you guys think the problem is and where do I start. I ordered a clymer manual but would like to work on it ASAP if anyone has a CD or file with clear carb pix and instructions. You guys seem to be the banshee wizards so please dispense wisdom. Thanks my email is [email protected]
