    shock question

everyone on here seems to like to run yfz 450 shocks as a replacement for stock banshee fronts. the yfz travel is 11.0 and when installed on the bnshee lifts the front and inch and would bind the ball joints on full length extension. at least that seem to always be the argument. THE QUESTION at hand that I have is has anyone tried a set of kawi kfz 450r fronts --- the eyelets are the same diameter and width but the travel on the newer kfx's is only 9.5 compared to the yfz's 11.0 --- I can get a set for around 100.00 and they have the compression, rebound, and coil preload adjustments that the yfz's do ---- Just wondering if anyone has tried this --- the research that I have done seems that the kawi shock is about the only stock shock with the same lenght as th banshee stock shock. If no one has tried this then I will give this a whirl myself and report on it later -- thanks!!!
  6. I work for a chassis builder -- pro street cars and drag cars -- when we gusset -- we usually go down the center of the bar/s to be reinforced --- if putting on the outside of a tube --- one side will strengthen the junction but doing both sides and boxing it in adds even more strength
  7. freezing my ass off waiting on warm weather to come back in Ohio

  8. sounds like a severe case of detonation on one cylinder or both --- mabye too lean on the top end of the throttle?? did both cylinders do the same thing
  9. tanks so far guys --- if anyone else can ad anything shout away --- all kits should arrive tomorrow and will know in a couple of days how this turn out --- also will post some pics soon and finish my profile -- the yamaha shop down the road has jets so finding them won't be a problem
  10. Thank you for some info on the stock carbs ---- only question then --- what are you running for jets and initial idle circut's -- would 27's be acceptable
  11. I am new to this site so first of all hello to everyone. second of all I have a 99 banshee that has been modded when I bought it. Mods include toomey full exhaust with t5s' and a hot crank stroked 4mm and 5mm rods , 30 over wiseco pistons and 3gg-10 cdi box, --- I have ordered tors elim kit and definately will need to up the jetting because I don't know what has been done to the carbs as of yet. I know stock carbs are small for a modded motor and would like at least 34mm pwk's but have to due with what I have until I can afford them. can a modded motor handle stock carbs with large jets around 290's --- I due understand that I won't have all that on the top end until I get bigger carbs but they should work for now?? I got the shee for a real fair price because they could not get it to run right but woever put the carb slides in had the in backwards and the carb bowls are full of crap and the carb circuts are plugged with gummy dried fuel. ordered carb rebuild kits also so I have new carb seals and needle and seats. going to rebuild carbs when I install eliminator/ idle adjustor kits --- any advise would be helpful Thanks
