  1. here's some pics of problem number 2 regarding the carb rubbing on what seems to be the clutch or gearbox housing? pressing the clutch causes the carb to move and tilt slighty. Also noticed that the big rubber around the carb is not 100% tight..theres no jubilee clip around it. might also be why left side isnt heating..? let me know your thoughts
  2. hey guys. aint been on in here in a while, again. hope everyone's cool. I just had my engine back from a rebuild, the crank big end went and shattered a piston. so new pistons, cylinders [which were bored], rebuilt crank, new gasket set and a head later.. ...and i still have problems! the first one is the left side fatty pipes refuse to warm up when the bike is idling even after 10mins or so..the right side by this time is boiling hot. pressure seems to be equal out of both silencers, smoke also seems to be equal. secondly the carb seems to be rubbing on the gearbox housing [excuse my lack of terminology]. when i change gear or engage the clutch the carb moves and tilts slightly due to this. could this be why my left side doesnt warm up? when i bought the quad i was that it had oversized carbs. even so, before the engine went wrong, it ran fine and i never saw the carbs move at all, nor did i notice they rubbed on the gearbox housing below them? [only seems to rub on the left side too!] one thing i will say is i have not checked the timing yet as i dont have a strobe handy till wednesday..could this also be a reason why the left side isnt getting hot? the head is piping hot..as is the right side..so cylinders n pistons seem to be going ok.and it seems that im getting a spark on both sides. plug leads have also been swapped around too :/ confused! hope its nothing major ive waited a month and a half for this to come back. appriciate all your input guys Irfan
  3. wow forgot to check this thanks to the first unhelpful post i had! thanks for your input guys it means a lot! i havent had time to take pics, seen as the engine went bang at my friends house so now the she will stay up there till my engine is back! The engine itself is having: a brand new crank, pistons, gasket set,my head can probably just be machined, and i need a new right side cylinder as mine is just wrecked. now the funny thing is, that the banshee is the most popular and respect quad of all time YET finding parts for them in the uk is like finding rocking horse shit! the replacement right side cylinder has been ordered from you guys in the States haha. fingers crossed il have it all in the bike up and running by a week today! again thank u for the responses guys, top class knowledge as always.
  4. well thanks very much for that really helpful post.
  5. hey guys..have a bit of a problem with my sheee ok so im not technically minded what so ever with engines so bare with me. basically to cut a long story short, the engine has been running as normal lately but the powerband wouldnt kick in. i could also hear a continuous tapping/rattling noise, as if something was hitting something else as the engine was running. the bike would kinda limp then hit the powerband softly, but there was no arm-outta-socket power at all. i had a friend to change the spark plugs. put brand new (and correct) plugs in, fired it up, rev'd it for 2 seconds, the kickstart siezed (it siezed 2 weeks ago but i bumped started it and it was fine after), and the piston has shattered! it looks like the piston has hit the spark plug? the sparkplug's end was inolated from what ever had hit it. it was even chipped. now your going to have to bare with me as my friend is the bike know how, but from what i gather off my mate i need: a new piston, conrod, head, full gasket set, crank bearings, sparkplugs and bore and hone. a specialist who's advert is on ebay has said that ''first thing is crank big end has gone this is why the piston hit the plug. crank rebuild from 199.00 + but with big end going will need web sp around 250.00 thats the bottom end sorted.. top end rebore + pistons £155.00 fitting for all parts is £120'' ...has anyone else experienced this problem, or a simular one? its done my head in tonight i feel like crying lol. appriciate your help in advance Irfan if
  6. cheers bro. the pipes are DEP fattys and silencers. sound awsome.. although for some reason ive not seen many if any Banshee's with these pipes? theres like 1 vid of the on youtube lol. not sure if thats a bad or good thing but im happy with em!
  7. well took it for its first proper run today. ...im absoultely shocked at its performance, it really is a complete ANIMAL! with my regards to my starting problem, i think it might be because its cold? i think its gunna give me a hard time everytime i try start it. once it was warm and all going well it kicked straight away once it was warm. fuel on, both chokes up and kick. what am i doing wrong lol
  8. cheers bro, i have to admit this it the only forum that ive ever joined where there isnt a rule on sig size lol. il edit it tommorow anyway, i can see it pissing a few people off with its size. as for the shee everything is superb, i will ask though, i had some real hard times starting it today. it was sat at a slight angle in my van so im not sure crap in the tank or carbs have gathered and stuff, but i just couldnt for the life of me start the fucker up via kicking with chokes on and off. im pretty sure i flooded it so i had to stop kickingm just had this wet fart sounding noise which i thought was flooding so stopped. however with the throttle open and kicking with chokes off, it did splutter into life but soon cut back out a few seconds later even with tinkering with the throttle. ended up bump starting it, which worked fine although it was very VERY smokey (white) and sounding like it was spluttering/hesistinag. i kept it running and rode it gently around for a bit then opened her up, after opening her up she was fine- was that little experience due to the bike just being cold and me being a little over keen? never owned a 2 stroke in my life let alone a banshee so bare with me!
  9. cheers bro, im unsure of what bumper it actualy is mind you!
  10. hello guys. my first post was asking your thoughts about a potential banshee i wanted to purchase..well for those of you that gave me ur input (and if ur bothered) i went and bought it today lol tried it in the service station where i met the guy, and it is an ANIMAL. now this might be because i've come off a 4poke and onto my first 2 stroke, but it scared me shitless in a good way none the less. it has supposedly 85bhp, not sure if anyone could confirm that? Mods that i can see include fell DEP Exhaust system with over sized carbs, upgraded pistons, Yam racing ignition, heavy duty clutch, nerf bars, cut plasticts, Renthal handle bars, Slasher rear tyres, front nudge bar, removed lights, shock covers, brand new seat, full engine rebuild, i think the guy mentioned a racing CDi but it was 4am so i wasnt that much awake after a 4 hour drive so i cant remember lol. was 85bhp a bit of bull though or no? it genuinly is ridicilously fast. for an early 90's model im sure you'd agree it looks pretty dam clean! appriciate your C&C guys Irfan
  11. yeah i thought it looked pretty dam clean and in good nick too, form the pics of course. well i bit the bullet and put a deposit on it today, so the guy took it off ebay so he dont sell it to anyone else. the guy said he was still unsure of the year, but was told by someone else it was a late 90s one as it has an earlier frame shape? oh, and has anyone had any experience with a DEP exhaust system? il be picking it up saturday, wahoooo! wonder what its gunna feel like coming from a friends CRF450 mx bike which ive used all summer, & the only quad ive ever owned is a ram 170 back in the day lollll. cant wait!!!
  12. he guys, cheers! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YAMAHA-BANSHEE-350-TWIN-QUAD-/140456629385?pt=UK_CartsParts_Vehicles_ATVQuad_Trike_Parts_Accessories_SM&hash=item20b3de1489 thats the 'shee in question.. guy said over the phone its late 90s but hes unsure of a precise year! look forward to your comments and questions on it before i go look at it! ( its a 5 hours drive from my house but im prepared to do it if its worth gettin!) Irfan
  13. hey guys have been browsing the forum for a while taking info in all summer about the shee, have finally found one i like on eBay thats sensibly priced. however, ive noticed its got dep fattyy pipes and tail pipes, and the plastics are not standard and i believe are classed as 'cut' or 'Mx style' (tiny front fender) and white wheels. so yeah, can any one tell me how im supposed to tell the year of it? im a bit worried about buying an older banshee but its at a price i cant turn down and looks mint! the owner belives its a late 90s model. if this is so, anything to look out for with these? im scared of buying it and fear it needs a top end build or somethin drastic! appriciate all your help in advance Irfan
