So any pipe will turn blue after lots of use? If so, will the paint make a huge difference? Or will it still flake off? thanks.

I took it to one of my neighbours who knows his banshee's like the back of his hand (he owns a Banshee with a Street bike engine) and he told me the compression was a little low compared to other banshee's he's tried. He's going to get back to me and let me know whats up with it. The carburetors are fine, thats whats got me stumped. But seeing as its an '03 the rings are a little overdue I'm guessing. He gets the launch on me every time, but it will reel him in rather quickly after 3rd gear.

Thanks man, no doubt about it that DRI is a very reputable company! I was just curious if its worth paying for it. Also, what are the advantages of chroming? If I didn't chrome would there be a down fall?

Haha, nice. For sure, will do man! Its getting a spark, I used the choke.. yes.. and last time I checked down the bore of the carb things seemed normal, that being said, its usually hard to tell "just" by the bore. The first thing I guess that would be logical to look into would be the idle circuit first and check for clogged pilot jets. Another thing I'd like to do is get a pressure test, idk what it should feel like to kick over a Banshee with normal compression (assuming my banshee doesn't have enough compression) because its very easy to kick, there is some resistance, but not a whole lot. I remember I owned a few snowmobiles and they seemed to have a lot more compression when pull starting them. The snowmobiles all ranged from 380cc to 800cc's, all twin cyl, but had more resistance when pulled. Could that be it maybe?? Yeah man, I learned a lot of stuff like that the hard way. Thanks again!

All I know is the Banshee is all stock, I assume the jets are as well. I do want to double check though. The Banshee has NO engine mods. The oil is from Yamaha and its a higher end full synthetic. I'd probably switch over to another brand though. I think the carbs are due for a 'lil cleaning though since it is an '03. I'll also check for a spark as well. My altitude is 3000 feet, at about 60-70ºF

Hey everyone, I just got a quick question for y'all, I was looking on the Duncan racing website and I'm really interested in their pipes, and everything they sell in general. Anyways, my question is about the triple plate chroming or then natural finish. Is the chroming really worth it? I'm top notch on maintaining my quad and I don't let anything slide, but does the chrome flake off after use? does it hold up to daily abuse or is it more for show and sine bikes? Saving 200 bucks sounds great for more mods, but the chrome would be well worth it if it can hold up! I don't mind the look of the natural finish because it looks like a project bike. So yeah, if it holds up great, thanks.

Idk what it could be. It also had trouble idling when I first bought it. Once reved up it would go like new, but at idle it would eventually stall, left on its own for more than 30 seconds.

Filter is absolutly 100% stock (foam), I cleaned it on the first day, and It ran great, thats what I don't understand. I also tried removing it to see if it was the oil (still didn't start), there is a normal ammount of oil (I run foam in all of my quads) and It's oiled with Maxima filter oil, and cleaned it with Twin-Air filter cleaner. As for oil, I'm running 24:1 (dealer reccomended) and It ran great, just yesterday night it decided it shouldn't start.

Yep, same plugs, after I swapped 'em it ran better. And the filter actually wasn't bad, I just cleaned it because the previous owner didn't oil it. I double checked and so far nothing got into the tract or carburetors.

Yeah! I thought my YFZ was a hand full on my wallet, now I got something that is going to eat its way well into my savings, lol.

I havent put it into a ton of thought, but my Banshee would be more of a duner/ hill climber, though I would like to see how it does on a track compared to my YFZ. (the YFZ is almost full motocross trim) As for current mods, quiet cores removed, Protaper bar pad, relocated the key to the front fender. LOL, its about as stock as can be! So far what I was thinking of doing was to maybe bump up the compression (no higher than 91) and go a little over bore, but a crank might be a little too costly (prob 400cc) If I get a little too into it, maybe stroker and 500cc around there. I'd have to see prices. Other than that, reeds, and intake, no lid, and a possible carburetor bore. With that being said, on the suspension side, deffinatley +2 swinger. The quad is going to be mostly used in the upper RPM's and going to remove the TORS sensor (I got a shop manual) but a little bottom end is always nice for a wheelie or two. Also one more thing, Lately its been getting harder and harder to start, the other day it started first kick and ran great. I checked everything and thought I'd report back to see what it could be. The gas to oil is correct, the spark plugs have just been replaced, recently did an oil change, cleaned the airfilter and it doesn't want to start! Any suggestions would be great! Hey everyone, I just thought I'd say hi and introduce myself. I just purchased my first Banshee just a few days ago. Right now all I have to say is that its great! I have wanted a Banshee for a very long time and I got my bone stock '03 S.E. at a great price, and Damn its fast! It flat out owns my YFZ! Anyways, I should probably get a little more aquainted with the search bar a little better because I know what its like on other forums when every newb asks the same questions. So far the only things I have done to it was relocate the key to the fender to make room for a bar pad. Anyways, there should be some pics in the link in my sig.
