  1. Yes, you gotta cope the front fenders. I cut semicircles in my front fenders and finished the edges with the edge trim strips from the tank ferrings (i didn't need the ferrings because i had gone with a oversize tank). If you like the lean look of cut fenders, search the forum a bit for a flat black and orange banshee that was running chrome rockets with the coolest race cut fenders. Search the forum under key words R2, ROCKETS, ROCKETPIPES...etc, and find that banshee. you'll know the picture when you see it. Totally bad ass fender cuts, it's well worth the search. You can also do the full bore race cut, lot of banshee's loose the bunny ears. Looks cool either way ...search for member borrink performance and look through his postings and you'll find a phone number and emal that he posted in response to a forum question regarding buying Rockets. Also MINKIA38, another member here, has new R2's on ebay as Buy It Now, chrome and black, just search "banshee r2 rocket" in ebay. I have dealt with MINKIA38 and was happy with the transactions. Hope this helps.
  2. Yup, the Pingel on a Clarke 5 gallon will clear just fine if you clock the valve body a little - you'll see when you set the tank in place, no problemo. Of course after riding you'll wanna give the pipes just a few moments to cool before reaching for that shutoff lever.
  3. Rocketpipes are starting to get some buzz - prolly gonna see a few old Rocket threads get picked back up. I just bought my second set of Rockets from John at RJATV in Florida. The pipes have a date with Jet-Hot - hope the tuning isn't severly affected by trapping in the heat.. It should be fine. Are they better than other pipe designs - can't say. But once the jets, needles and floats are correct, they do work. I'm running stock everything excetpt for the reeds (VF-3) and lid removed (K&S Powerlid) and the Rockets do just fine from bottom to top. Plus they look cool as all get out without being the leg burner one might think. Here's an idea! What if a test mule Banhee was available, moderatly modded - this mule would be timed track tested with CPI, Toomeys, PT, FMF, Rocket, yada yada yada...you know - lets kick the debate up a notch. Dyno is itself a debate so i feel timed track runs, 4 or so timed runs on each pipe to allow for jetting so we all can get a more side by side comparison. This would be a BansheeHQ meeting of the minds on a weekend at a track that many can agree on. Plus i'd like to meet some of the people that post here, theres some bad ass mo-fo's in here. I have an extra set of Rockets and Toomey T-5....... any one reading this care to put up some donor pipes and add to this idea? I'll even put up the main and pilot jet sizes and a 2:1 intake boot so jetting can go much faster than fighting a stock box. Would wanna avoid pods because the shortened tract length, kinda want to have low end tuning into account for this. I'll put up my fair share, anyone else think a new thread aught to be started here. I for one would like to see just what would come of such an event. Lets see a new thread started and take up the pipe question - AND THEN WE CAN TAKE IT OUTSIDE LIKE REAL REPUBLICANS. (ooaahhhh, i went there didn't I - YEAH) edit: can we get a spel check button in here
  4. Mine are on the way to Jet-Hot Chrome will make em more better.
  5. another blue and white, picture is bigger if viewed from my profile gallery.
  6. Yeah, running out of gas totally blows. Not very good for the top end either. On a brighter note, seems as if the Rockets fit most any setup (tank, petcock, heads). Plus, the sound, lol, engine really does sounds like a giant chain saw coming out of the woods - love it! Glad to see the R2 being made available. Rocket owners are a small brave group arent we. My Toomey T5 were fine, I just happened on to a picture of those huge Guns of Navarone looking pipes coming through the coped fenders and decided no matter what fit problems would come - i was getting em. Turns out the fit was never a problem.
  7. This set of Rockets was picked up from the Respress fellas over in Atmore, Alabama about a year or so ago. No fit problems with the Clarke 5.5 gallon - even the Pingel has enough room although it's all quite tight. My point is....the interference issuse may not be the problem, it's the look that may be an issue. Perhaps the IMS 3 gallon? Something not quite so big. I had to cut my fenders to get that Clarke in, now i'm looking at another set of front plastics so i can put a smaller tank back on. The Clarke has a few other issues with the way it looks installed (ie: brackets in front of cap are ugly, the gas cap is kinda up in your face, did i mention it's HUGE, it's discoloring yellow). Do you really want to commit to a big tank, cause it is a commitment that will cost you to back out of. Once you cut, your done! Just wanted to add my .02 as to weather you even want the big tank. For me, it's gonna ammount to a waste of a lot of money because the fenders and tank are of no use - it's just too ugly - I can't deal with all the bulk.
  8. ...told my GF the other day that if I could get that Banshee into the bed room - she'd be in trouble.
