  1. I would say you did all right on it at least for west coast prices. I just paid 4000 for a basically brand new condition 2006 so you probably did better than me. Personally, I was willing to pay a lot for cherry stock one so I didn't have to deal with all the issues caused by the 21 year old previous owner that was always drunk when they worked on it and took it to some local hillbilly for all of the motor work. I know it will end up costing me more in the long run but it was the price I was willing to pay. I am actually kind of afraid to ride it now, becuase I might scratch it. By the way if anyone is interested there is a brand new 2000 or so on Portland Craigslist for 4500. It still has the dealers tags hanging from the bars.
  2. Thanks for the info. The banshee is only going to be for the dunes. I have a bike and a utility quad to go splash through water with. I guess I will just have to learn to slow the hell down through water.
  3. Since you all are on the topic. After putting my pods on I pulled the lid off of my stock airbox just to see how clean the airfilter was, since being a dummy I didn't check it before I bought the bike. Well I discovered the that bike came with a K+N with that aluminum adapter inside the airbox. If I pulled the pods off and ran the airbox setup with no lid and an outerwear on the large K+N would I notice any difference in power. I would actually prefer to run the airbox seeing how I live in Oregon and there is water all over the dunes most of the year.
  4. I have tried just about every grip adhesion method on the planet in the last 20 years on motorcycles and the only thing I have ever seen last is superglue. Scott grip glue is a friggin joke. Just try not to get your hand stuck to the bars when installing.
  5. Good call on the 300's, they are damn close. Here is some pics of a plug chop I did today. I have been a dirt bike guys for 20 years and have never even heard of a plug chop until I got on this site, and have never blown a motor, just jetted by feel. With dunes banshees tendency to grenade motors I figured it was worth a try. This chop was taken at 250ft elevation on the road in front of my shop. I am thinking it might be just a hair lean for my liking. I want the banshee to be absolutely idiot proof even if it means a small performance drop. What do you guys think.
  6. Thanks man, I will go see if I can find any 300's locally and give them a try first. Based on Toomey's documentation it seemed like I was going to be on the lean side of things with 280's. I can jet my yz 250 in about 5 minutes, not sure I will ever get the banshee down to 20 minutes but I garuntee it will get alot easier when those damn TORs things go away when I switch to twist throttle.
  7. Hi there, I am a new to the forum and just purchased a bone stock 2006 banshee in basically showroom new condition. Probably paid a little much for it, but I figure it was not something that is going to get any easier to find. Anyways, I am in the middle of putting T-5's with Toomey Silencers on it and the kit came with air filter and jetting. I really do not want to run the airbox and Foam air filter that Toomey supplied. This is going to be purely an Oregon dunes bike and don't want to screw with having to clean a foam filter everytime I want to ride the banshee. Not to mention I really don't feel like drilling a piss load of holes in my stock air box, just to get enough air into it. I instead ordered a set seperate K+N's that clamp right to the carb inlets and have outerwears. This set-up is pretty much what everyone used to run on the dunes and seems to work fine. My question is will this affect how I should jet the bike. The largest jet Toomey sent me is a 280 which they claim is for sea level to 2500ft. The bike will be ridden at sea level all the time and in all temperatures. In the winter I may go get a one size larger jet just to deal with the temp difference, since I am guessing that Toomey assumes that everyone is in So-Cal. Normally I would just jet the bike and go try it out until I like the way it runs, but considering it seems to be a couple of hour ordeal to get the carbs out on this thing I would rather get it right the first time. Thanks in advance. Allen
