If you really want power do cub cylinders instead of big bore. IMO.
-
Well I don't post very much on here. Mainly just read. This bike will be used for pretty much everything. I guess I would have to say mainly trail but I like to drag, dune and just all around play. Budget on the motor I would like to stay in the 2000 range which I think should be more than doable. I already have a coolhead with 19cc domes, v-force2 reeds, fmf fatties right now but I think I'm switching to R2s. I'll be running stock carbs for until I see how it runs and if I need any more power.
-
I was thinking maybe around 60. Haven't really done alot of looking around. Caliper just kept locking up and ruined 3 rotors now.
-
I having a 4mil long rod built and am wondering what kind of numbers I might make. Planing on doing 4mil long rod, v-force2 reeds, timing plate(set at what ever the builder thinks), cool head with cut 19cc domes, currently running fmf fatties and pc2 silencers but will probably be switching to R2s, currently stock carbs but will be going bigger when I see how it is, clutch kit from rdz. Don't remember what he said I think barrnet or something like that. Oh and dune ported a little more on the aggressive side. That's all I can think of for now. What do you guys think it will make? Also I'll probably be doing mainly trail riding.... Do you think this is a good setup?

Hi I'm not sure if this is where I should be posting but I'll give it a shot. I'm looking to have my motor converted to a 4mil long rod setup with dune ported cylinders and cases matched. Does anyone know of a good reputable builder that loves in Michigan. I live in Roseville and and would like to find someone near me. I've found a few places but haven't heard a whole lot about them. I just don't what to spend all this money on a motor that's being built in someones garage that doesn't know what their doing and end up with a bad running motor or worst it blows up. Let me know if you guys know of anyone in the area. Thanks

Yamaha Banshee Parts For Sale

How much for the rear brake setup. -
Yeah these were the only pics I took. Like I said I didn't do the tear down my buddy did. That was after talking to the builder and he told him to take off the head and let him know what he found. And honestly the only reason I took them is so my buddy could email them to the builder but he just ended up sending the motor to him after seeing the damage. The last I talked to him he said he was going to ship it out today. So the motor should be there in the next few days or so. The builder said he would look st it as soon as it got there. I will keep you guys posted as to what was found and all that good shit.
-
We didn't do the leak down test after it blew up because as soon as it happened he call the builder and he said to take the head off and let him know what happened. For those who asked who put the carbs on, my buddy did. But they were all tightened down good with new intake boots. This was no hacked together build. Anything and everything was replaced or fixed. I posted a couple pics of the bike just to show the quality of the work done on this bike. Not a penny was spared.
-
I was about to ask the same question.
-
Yeah I just checked that out... I don't think it was a crank failure cause that's what happened befor he built this motor and it looks a little different. The last time it was the piston actually smacking the dome. This time it blew that chunk of the piston and the bounced around in there tearing everthing up. I think he is actually building the crate for it now and sending it out as soon as he can.
-
As far as the leak down test the builder did that along with the squish. I don't know where the air leak would come from sence the intakes are new the leak down was done.....
-
Yeah sorry about the pics... I took them with my phone. But yes the domes were new and it looks to me like the ring is broke. There are pieces of it all over the piston. So the general consences is it's a lean condition? How could this happen with those jets?should the builder be responsible for this? AK, what do you mean by the ring land was blown out?
-
Yeah definitely not saying it's his fault. I don't have much experience with blown up motors do I'm not really sure what I'm looking at. I just can't see what it could be besides a snagged ring. Take a look at the pics and let me know.

Yeah I took and posted some pics. They are in the photobucket link in my sig. Tell me what you guys think.

Do you still have this bike for sale.

Is this bike still for sale? -
I can almost guaranty it is. I really didn't want to say anything but I'm sure he'll stand by it but it's actually F.A.S.T. I've personally never done anything with him but always have heard absolute great things about him and am actually getting ready to send my motor to him for a 4mil setup depending on what all happens with this.
-
Yes everything was new that was put in it by the shop... 2 new virgin cylinders that got dune ported and cases matched, new 4mil long rod hot rods cranks with an extra weld, new v-force3 reeds, new pistons, new clutch plates basket and all, he had the max load bearing put on it ect. All work on the motor was done by the builder. As for the domes I'm not 100percent on weather they were cut or they were blaster domes but on the side of them they are etched 22+2 whatever that means. The builder told him to run a 340 main with a 27.5 pilot. After he talked to another local guy he ended up running a 40 pilot instead of the 27.5 to be on the safe side. I can't check the squish cause he already tore it down. He has talked to the builder but from what I hear nothing much has come of it. So far he has ripped off the head and said that there is a huge piece of the piston missing and what looks like mangled ring all over the piston. So obviously the piston is destroyed the dome is destroyed and he said that the cylinder has a huge gouge from the exhaust port up. So he will probably have to have both of those bored. And that's only on the top end. After he took the head off and seen all that he said screw it called the builder and said he is shipping it back to him. Do you guys think this sounds like something the builder should be accountable for?
-
Yeah I didn't really think so either but yanks what the guy told him.Where do you live or what's the elevation difference between where you are and Michigan.
-
Ok but for example if you are setup to run race fuel and you run regular gas then you will probably detonate early. But if you are setup to run on 91 and you run 93 then how do you detonate. I was always under the impression that it was all in the octane.
