  1. after watching a few "banshee out runs cop" vids on youtube im open to more suggestions. Is there a recomended vendor for parts?
  2. I guess just haul some ass, nothing to crazy. Be quick and dependable. Im not gonna be racing it, maybe just messing around. Take out once in a while. Impress a few friends.
  3. received a banshee for free thats totally in parts. I have no idea about these machines or what can be done to them but lets just say I am in a no rush project. With that being said, I am going to tear down the entire engine do a complete rebuild and make this thing right. as it sits right now its a rust bucket with no promise. If I am about to start tearing this things apart, does any one have any good ideas for mods or better performance upgrades. A little advice would be appreciated.
  4. well my resources are unlimited and money is not going to be an issue so no to worried about headache. When Im done cobbling things together ill let you know. But if you could have just answered my question you probably would get the time line sooner

  9. yeah I swapped the carbs and did not hook up the choke tube. The same failure in power switched from one cylinder to the next. So I think that I am just going to get all new jets and what not I just dont know what I need. Any help would be good with that. Im in Norfolk VA so pretty low elevation around here. Let me know What size all this needs to be and what is the best.
  10. So i had a thread going about loosing power. I really dont know much about carbs but in the last few days reading some stuff and pullin my barbs apart im starting to learn a few more things. So i do avionics maintenance in the navy and all we ever do to find out if anything is wrong is swap parts. So what I did, i swapped the carb position around. Now I dont know if this was a bad thing but my gripe followed. the left side or choke side was the side that was running shitty. I put it to the left and the same shit-tuation. The bike starts and and will run for a a few min but thats about it. When you gas it it just seems like the good carb is responding so much better. The only sync I did was was by my eyes but I would imagine that im kinda close. Close enough I feel that It should run a little better. Like I said I dont know much but im gonna guess here and think that it is the main jet that is my problem here. I did remove the jets and clean them out and do what ever it was that I could do and nothing. So what will a carb or jet kit do for me? I was told to do that. I figure my shit is clean and looks ok I guess. I mean it looks the same as the other carb. I am just trying to figure out my next move. On top of things and I dont know if this matters but the choke slide does not stick or lock into position like my yzf250 does. Not really sure if its supposed to. The choke does not start the bike in fact if its running and i pull the choke on it kills the bike. Dont know if that has anything to do with it. Any help??
  11. Correction, I just used that really cool elevation tool someone posted and where I usually ride is around 32ft. This bike came from wisconsin which I have flown into a local airport where I purchased and if i remember I think the elevation around there was 750 ft.
  12. Ok, read a lot of this stuff looked online for more, watched some youtube and grabbed the tools. Here is what I've come up with. 1. I dont know what the hell TORS are! 2. I pulled the carbs tried to clean them the best I can which meant removing the float pan and draining to fuel. Yeah I know pretty lame 3. I eye balled it since I dont have the vacume tool. Both cabs seem to be moving at the same time the best my eye can see. So, kicked the bike up and it started real nice even though that was never really an issue. After letting the bike warm up I took it down the street and off I went with the an oh so familiar power. Got about a 1/4 mile down the street and ran into an oh so familiar power failure. Back to just dogging out trying to only run on one cylinder. I am still running stock carbs and im not sure what the jetting is. As far as mods go, there are two things in the carb area that look after market to me. First there is this tube thing that sits behind the main cylinders of the carbs right above in inlets to the main cylinder heads. It says MOOSE on it and is in orange writing. On top of the carbs there are two block things I guess you can call them that have the throttle cable running through them and some other wires which I do not go where to. This also has a screw on it which I was adjusting earlier and believe it to have something to do with the positioning on the throttle. I am living in norfolk VA right now so I am going to assume that the air pressure probably has me around 70 ft above sea level. Thats all I got for now. Thanks for the help and I wish I could be more clear but I really know NOTHING about carbs. All my other toys just seem to run correctly so.......
  13. So I just got my first 98 banshee from a friend who probably let it sit for the last two years. The bike fires right up which is nice but it seems like its only running on one cylinder until it hits the power band. I did some adjustments with the air ratio while not knowing what I am doing and got the two running. It still seems like its not running right though. Almost like its all or nothing on the throttle. Now when I rode this thing two years ago it seems to run a lot faster and stronger. I dont know that much about carbs let alone two of them. I read through the jetting and what not but it seems too much to handle right now. If any one has some easy advice on how to get this thing going nice that would be great. Colin
