  1. i threw in the 168's and that seems WAY rich, wouldn't even rev up hardly, and almost stalled trying to ride wide open. dropped to a 160 still rich, 150, and its feels like its getting closer, but still has very little power at top end. should i go for a 140 next or is there some other problem going on here? the 48 pilot feels great though, idles perfect and has great throttle response.
  2. awesome, thanks for the pointers, i picked up a 148 pilot, and 168 mains today (thats what the shop here had) so i will start there, and see if i can fine tune it from that point. thanks for the help
  3. make sure your carbs are clean and you dont have a clogged jet somewhere first.
  4. alright so my shee isn't runnin right and i decided its time to try and get it all tuned up here is my setup: .50 over motor trinity stage 2 race porting and swirl cut head toomey t3 pipes and keihin 34mm pj carbs so the problem is that it seems to bog when you go and hit the throttle, it cuts out at high rpms almost like its losing spark, or similiar to a super lean condition. but then it also smokes when shut off, pipes are pretty oily, and the plugs are always wetish whenever you pull them out, after idle, wot, half throttle, whatever. its running a 40 pilot and 118 main, and im at about 3500-5000 ft depending on where i ride does that jetting sound right? is this a coil or cdi problem possibly, so im not burning all the fuel due to weak spark, and thats why it seems rich but also cuts out? what could be going on any help would be great.
  5. Hi, im headed down to Ft. Collins colorado at the end of march/ start of april from up here in montana. ive been reading a bit about the dunes outside of walden colorado, and im tryin to decide if i should try to ride them. i could easily throw the banshee in the back of my truck when i head down there, but im not sure if it will be good riding that time of year. has anyone been there that time of year or even earlier? is there still snow on the dunes? is the sand soaked? any info would be greatly appreciated.
  6. thanks, thats just what i needed to know.
  7. will an 85-86 rz350 stator and timing plate work on my 87 banshee?
  8. wow, i learned something today lol... makes sense too, cuz when i shake the flywheel, i can hear a rattling noise. so probly loose magnets
  9. forgive me if this is a dumb question, but i thought flywheels generally didn't go bad unless they were dropped or something like that? or is there something that can go wrong with their magnetic ability to generate power with the stator?
  10. plug boots are good since they came with the new coil. ends on the wires to the coil are good, i just replaced them in case. i guess i will test the stator again, and make sure my wiring is good. thanks for the replies.
  11. just threw the flywheel back on, and turned the lights on and kicked, and nothin, so signs of any power to the lights. so does that mean im loosing power somewhere in the wiring? if so i guess ill bust out the ohmmeter and start checking my wiring harness.
  12. never thought about the lights, ill check tomorow, i guess that would have been an easy way to rule stuff out. no melting, good grounds, all switches are good, pickup coil gap seems good.
  13. well im still stuck with no spark. as said before, stator tested good twice. its got a new cdi, new coil, new plugs. just pulled flywheel, pickup coil and flywheel look ok. all wiring looks good, and all conectors plugged in? why doesnt my banshee have spark??? any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks
  14. i found a used one, stock part, for 80 shipped, guaranteed to work, or my money back. sound like a good deal?
  15. tors is gone. i dont know anyone with the cdi for this bike, since mines a 87, everyone i know has newer bike, so im not sure what to try. wiring seems to be ok, i checked all connections and grounds. if i do buy a new cdi, should i get one from ricky stator for 125, or ebay for around 70-80, or is there a cheaper alternative for a used one? maybe someone on here selling theirs?
  16. so i was having problems with the shee dying at lower rpms, it slowly got worse and worse, and then finally it just wouldnt run at all. i though it was a carb problem, but turned out, i have no spark at all anymore. brought it to a local guy i know, he tested the stator and said it was fine, so thats in the clear, i borrowed a functional coil from a friend and put it on, and still no spark. so does this leave out only the cdi? or is there anything else that it could be? i checked all connections and everything seems fine. if anyone knows of something else to check out, it would be great. id hate to buy a new cdi, and then find out it was something cheaper. so any help would be appreciated.
  17. the banshee has a twist throttle uprage so doesn't that mean tors is gone? the two white connectors under gas tank are tors right? cuz those are unplugged/ could the tors system still active, or is this something else?
  18. just bought an 87 banshee. tons of aftermarket, motor just rebuilt by trinity. with less than 20 hours on it. anyway, ive only had it for a few days, and today while riding, it stalled out on me after letting off the throttle, originally i thought i was out of gas, but there was plenty. i got it started again, and then a minute later it did the same thing, and then was really hard to start. i got it home and now its sitting and i dont know where to start, ive neer worked on a 2 stroke like this b4, but i can learn. ive been riding quads for years, but only 4 strokes so far, but i wanted a dunes machine. any help on this problem would be great, thanks.
