Is it possible you got the water pump gear on the crank backwards? Sounds like you got no coolant flowing.

After going to the drag strip last night a couple of guys brought some shee's and I was talking to them a little and asked for one of the guys for his # they all had 4 or 10 mill kits on alky didnt get into any hard specs but damn they were fast the slowest one ran a 5.95 in the 1/8th and the fastest on ran a 4. 79 in the 1/8th on nitrous, temp was around mid 80's and about 300ft above sea level, didnt get a humity % reading but it was a fair night for racing everything we had was flying but with watching them I think mid to low 6's isn't to far fetched I've got my porting calculator numbers ready to be set up on the porting CNC mill if anyone knows about porting please chime in and I will go over my port map with you and see what your take is.
Building from bone stock, prepare to spend $$$. Cheaper if you buy a used drag bike. But it feels better when it's you that built it. Any sponsor here can help you with all your needs.

i have 16t on front 38t on rear feels like i can get more out of the bike
try a 17t in the front. what size tire are you running?

if anyone has any suggestions i would really appreciate it. ive searched everywhere but no one runs a 18in tire i also have a 22in tire as well. if someone could tell me a gear setup for the 18in and the 22in that would be great. im new to the hq and funny story i got my shee its a 97 black and red took it out for the first time and crashed in 6th gear wide open and broke my wrist thanks for the input p.s thats why i wanna go in a straight line lol
need to know your size motor and mods. maybe someone that runs 1/8 will chime in after you post up your mods.

Hey guys I have another question for you all. I was wondering if the lockup clutch cover requires more oil? I installed mine and I put the oil I normally do and it barely shows on the glass. Thanks guys!
use 2 full quarts.

Ok thanks for answering my question.
Make sure the vent hole in the case is clean.

hey guys, im building myself a bike. i drag on sand. if you want to watch some videos go to youtube and my user name is megacumminskid im on the yellow and black bike and tell me what i should do for upgrades bike has pipes and timing plate. i already bought a +10 swing arm.
Thanks Jordan.
Lots of options you can do. Best bet is to call a site sponsor and tell him how fast you want to go and your budget.

IMO the 1-4 manual 5 & 6 is the most reliable & forgiving transmission you can run. As for shifting 5 & 6 we use a shift kill. It still allows for full throttle clutchless shifts.
What is a shift kill?

its funny to me to watch the fart can bikes explode all the time and know that i have the same old junk inside my motor.. im sure i'd do do my pants if it had an hour meter on it.
Lol.

I would do a leak down and compression check if that all checks out good then if u have the actual time to tear it appart i would check the bearings on the crank n so.... u should also check ur clutch maybe it slipping a litle bit at the end and maybe thats why u r losing that 10th of a second
Changed out the clutch and back in the 11's again. Clutch was slipping a little bit.

What type of jetting are u guys doin with 350's with 39's ?
This might be a good starting point.
sea level, temp. mid 80's and very humid.
175 main 52 pilot 1 1/2 air screw. for inframe shearers 392 cub.
Not sure about 358 cub jetting. Depends also on what kind of pipes you running.

Listen to the guys that actually run at least 1/8 mile. There's only a few that run 1/4 successfully fast & Tedder has replied already. Nothing against the 300', but the stress on the motor is less severe & I've done both.
Now to answer your question. We need to know what fuel, oil & oil ratio you are using. Plus, your shift rpm & what rpm it goes thru the traps at & some basic motor information.
We baseline our motor when new & broken in with a compression check. We then use that baseline when checking compression throught the season. We use that as an indicator to ring & piston problems.
As for the crank, we look at replacing or rebuilding around 400 runs. Our 1st crank (cast 7mm) got 450 runs before the lower rod bearing cut loose. That crank was primarily run on alky with around 75 passes on race gas.
Our current crank (billet 7mm) has around 300 1/4 mile passes. OOPS got to run, I'll finish later.
I'm running 111 oct. klotz and 4oz. to a gallon mix.
Motor
392 cub. 39 pwk's, vforce 3 reeds, 1-4 5/6 m duneable tranny, lock up with soft springs, shearer's oof pipes, stock cdi, coil, stator and flywheel.
Cranking comp. new is 160, Present comp. haven't checked it yet.
I used to run high 11's at 103 mph, now 12 flat or 11.9 at 100 mph. Which is why I'm thinking I should just tear in there and change out the seals. I've got more then at least 160 runs on this motor.
sorry i don't know what rpm's I'm at going through the traps, I'm the only one on this side of the pacific ocean that races a quad on the 1/4 mile.
Thanks a bunch for the replies.
Won't kick start after running for a while

check your spark plug boots for cracks. might be grounding to your throttle cable when its warmed up
