  1. i mean't no exhaust...at all. i actually bruised the bridge of my foot and have been limping for days from kicking that stupid thing over, i swear i must have kicked it over 500-700 times (and i wouldn't consider that an overestimation)...i don't give up easily! but yes, it needs a bore/piston set. might just say screw it and sell it.
  2. reassembled and cleaned the carb....took a lot of kicking but i finally got it to fire up, open header...holy crap!
  3. i'm thinking you guys are right, just get it bored and new pistons/rings. first i need to fix that frame damage though. thank you for all the comments.
  4. it has a metal headgasket which looks to be in good shape. and a little carbon isn't going to cause a large drop in compression.
  5. well i just reassembled it, and put a little marvel down the jugs. i got 60psi compression from each cylinder (kicking it over by foot as hard as i could) here are pics with the head off: pic 1 pic 2 pic 3
  6. reeds looked fine and were a bit dirty but not really sticking. visually from the top with the head off you can see no gap between the pistons/rings/cylinder wall. i'm going to reassemble it and do a CLT on it tomorrow. it's starting to piss me off.
  7. no cracks in the head/jugs, they actually look incredibly good. i have no checked anything with the reeds...i'll have to pull em apart tomorrow. will report back in the evening.
  8. lol, actually i just opened the compression tester brand new. also used my finger over the holes...maybe 1psi..
  9. Hi all, this is my first post. I just bought this 94 banshee today, it was wrecked in the front up high (hit the radiator, front plastics, and the steering bar/mount. it was running/driving when this occured obviously, then it got impounded. i bought it from my friends impound yard, got it home assuming i just needed to fix the crash damage, which isn't the case. heres what i've found out: it has toomey T5 exhaust, and a single carb conversion with a..reed force valve box? beyond that it looks mostly stock. i pulled the plugs and have spark, so i did a compression test and got 0 on both cylinders. i pulled the head and everything looked good (gasket, and head, and pistons) so i pulled the jugs and theres no scaring on the cylinder walls, the pistons look good and the rings aren't sticking to the pistons or anything, they're free and easily moved. obviously i instantly assume it's a ring problem but, how could it go from running to the point of smashing itself into a car, to having zero compression? any ideas where i might look prior to dumping money into it? heres a pic of it being stripped. picture here. couldn't just put the pic in the post for some reason
