  1. Hey Guys, I have a stock rear shock that needs to be rebuilt and or replaced. Any suggestions?
  2. There shouldn't be any excessive metal buildup. The welds should be flush. If it was me I would get a brand new one...
  3. Anyone have any suggestions for a new or improved banshee seat? The foam in my seat is pretty broken down and the seat is very soft. Purchasing a new OEM seat is looking like the best option right now. Any Suggestions? The Banshee seats are nothing like seats on the new bikes out...
  4. I'm looking for a good set of AC pro peg heel guards or nerf bars with heel guards. Not sure what other brands are out there that still carry stuff for the banshee... Anyone have some laying around they want to get rid of?

  6. Thanks Everyone for the good ideas. I am in the process of port matching the case. Hopefully I will get the grinding done tomorrow night. Trim painting got in the way tonight... I wasn't planning on replacing the trans bearing...but that is a good point, I should probably throw some new ones in. Hope my local dealer has them. Jeff did a really nice Porting job, can't wait to get it running this weekend! My GF isn't too crazy about using the oven to dry the cylinders...I didn't say anything about the kitchen table yet! LOL I think its a great idea though!
  7. I'm am going to begin reassembling my freshly ported FAST racing 4mil buildup tomorrow night. Any tips or tricks anyone can share with me?
  8. Yeah I'm looking for something more durable. Ive never had any long term luck with paint or powder coating. It looks good for a few months though!
  9. I took the springs off of the shocks. The springs are pretty chipped up so I am going to sandblast or strip the paint off of them. I have been trying to find a decent paint to use on my front end suspension components. Has anyone had luck with using a rubberized truck liner coating on control arms, springs, bumper, etc? As far as rebuilding the actual shocks themselves I didn't do anything to them yet. Is there a tutorial or info on how to rebuild them? There are no leaks and they seem to function well. Thanks in advance!
  10. I purchased YFZ450 shocks tonight.I believe they are off of a 04 or 05 (not sure how to tell.) I took the springs off and inspected the pistons and seals. Everything looks good (no obvious leaks). Does anyone have any service or performance suggestions for these shocks? Also I would like to strip and repaint springs. What kind of paint would work best. Flexible paint?
  11. Are the STI Dirt Trax comparable? Anyone running these? This might be another good tire to cut...
  12. What kind of -2 swingarm are you running? Is it lighter or heavier then stock?

  13. Yeah, I am going to get a hold of him and see what he suggest. Will the port greatly affect the way the current power band comes on? I am having a lot of trouble getting the power to the ground as it is... Stock clutch?
  14. I am getting ready to do some motor work on my original 02 Banshee topend and am wondering what will give me the best bang for the buck without seriously limiting what I can do to the motor in the future. We mainly ride trails, silts, and do some hill climbing. The bike runs great but I know I have a good amount of hours on the original pistons and rings. With 20cc domes I am getting a very even compression measurement of 145psi. I have been doing some research on porting work and there are a few porting options out there that seem to suit my riding. Trinity offers a mx port that will allow me to continue to use the current setup minus the carb needles and jets. They told me I will get 10 hp out of a port job and the work should come in under $875. FAST offers a woods port for $250 but I will need to change to a different carb setup...Then I start to look at stroker cranks and that changes the whole game. If I go ahead with a mx port and then later decide to stroke is my porting going to be correct. I am also concerned with my stock cluch...anyone had luck throwing that much power into one? The bike runs strong now and I think it is producing about 55hp. Any suggestions/feedback is greatly appreciated. Current motor mods include: Toomey T5 pipe kit NOS coolhead with 20cc Domes V force Reeds +4 Timing, Aluminum Impeller Torrs Elimination. All of my buddies are riding 450s and 700s and they are slowly starting to catch up....
  15. I have an 02 banshee I want to set up for mx and trail riding. The bike already has Durablue +2 axle, and +2 front control arms. The front tires are 23x7x10, and the rears are 20x11x9 sitting on stock rims. The motor has a coolhead with 20cc domes, v force 3 reeds, 4deg timing advance, aluminum water pump impeller, toomey t5's, umi filter with stock airbox minus the snorkel, and stock carb with larger jets, needle change and torrs elimination, and am running stock radiator with engine ice. I am looking to wake her up a little but I want to maintain reliability. I do a lot of riding in silt mines, logging trails, mud and snow. The motor has low hours on it and when I put the head on it the cylinders looked perfect. I am thinking about a port/polish and carb upgrade. Does anyone have any suggestions about the porting/polish and carb upgrade? Is there anything I should look out for. Any tricks for freshening up the top end? pistons, rings? The motor still has the stock clutch. Any way to make shifting easier like the new bikes out there? Other things I would like to do include: Nerf bars with IMS footpegs and heel guards. Fasst handle bars (are they worth it? Should I raise the stem height and go wider for trail riding?), steering stabilizer (preferably built into the stem, maybe elka?) New Shocks (elka, works?.)Lighter rims (hiper dual beadlock?)
