  1. I am gonna check my kill switch and my pickup gap. I talked to a local mechanic and he suggested it could be the needle and seat on that carb. If it is not sealing correctly it might just be constantly flooding the cylinder. I am gonna check that too. Thanks for all the help guys.
  2. I I have determined it is a spark problem. The cylinder would not fire even with starting fluid sprayed directly in the cylinder and I am getting unburned fuel out of that exhaust pipe. I am planning on replacing my coil and seeing if that fixes my problem.
  3. I will give that a shot
  4. Alright guys today I pulled the carb back off and took out my reed cage to ispect double check that none of them where stuck. The reed looked fine and all of them moved. I put it back together and started it ran on both cylinders for about 15 seconds and then dropped the cylinder again. I can't figure it out.
  5. Compression is about 120 on both
  6. I checked and confirmed I have spark. I switched the plug wires to see if the problem moved to the other side and it didn't so I believe that eliminates the coil being the problem.
  7. I dont have the tors system anymore. I did sync the carbs after cleaning them but I am not sure of what else there is to adjust on them
  8. I completely tore down the carbs. Removed and cleaned the jets, and fully cleaned the internals of the carbs with carb cleaner. The reeds all seemed fine. I am not sure what next to look into.
  9. I was riding my shee the other day and it dropped a cylinder so I figured I had fouled a plug. I put two new plugs in and had the same problem, it would start up fine and run on the right cylinder really strong and the left one would just fire every now and then spiratically. I removed both carbs and cleaned them. Put them back on and nothing changed. I swapped plug wires and still no difference. Both cylinders have good compression. If I pull the plug from the problem cylinder after letting it run for a minute the plug is perfectly clean and bone dry. It seems like a fuel problem to me but I dont know what else to try. Anybody have any suggestions?
  10. thanks
  11. Do I need to rejet for a k&n filter/outerwear and no lid on my air box?
  12. I just bought my 89 shee in the spring and have been riding it since in about 70-90 degree weather. It seemed to be sluggish and bog until mid range and you had to wind her out pretty good to keep her in the power range. It ran great outside of the lower end. I hadn't rode it in a week and just recently the weather has been cooling off here. I rode it today and it was about 52 degrees out and the lower end power seemed to be greatly improved. Does this mean it was jetted to rich and now that the cooler weather has leaned it out a little it is running better? Is this enough of a temperature drop to even make a difference? The only mods I have are Pro Circuit platinums, 13T/42T sprockets, and I don't know what my jetting is. I am 800 ft. above sea level. Also how much of a temperature drop do I need to worry about leaning her out too much?
  13. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the stock timing plate on my 89 shee is adjustable to an extent. I want to go to +4 but I was wondering if this can be simply adjusted with my stock plate or do I need an aftermarket plate or a timing key? Why would you use a +4 key if it can be done by adjusting your stock timing plate? Advantages, disadvantages? Will going to +4 give me a noticable difference lower end? It is a mostly stock 89 with only Pro Circuit Platinums and 13t 42t sprockets.
