  1. Vitos pistons are good pistons, but be careful if you are running a long rod setup! I ran these in my banshee, along with a 4mill long rod and space plate and stock pipes (Yes stock pipes) and plus 4 on the timing I noticed a huge power difference I went from 200 mains to 270 and its did not seem to be running rich at all! My banshee was a total sleeper I would consistently win races with piped banshees, that was the good. The bad was my motor only made it about five hours. the pistons held up just fine until they broke off the rod. My crank had maybe 40 hours or less on it, and the general theory is that the combination of the extra weight of the piston and the long rod may have had something to do with it. that being said, maybe I had a weak rod or maybe it had a crack in that I did not see when i rebuilt it. I am not entirely blaming the pistons I am just putting the warning out there. I would have never thought that the little bit of extra weight would make a difference but my buddy who is a 2 stroke engineer seems to think that had a lot to do with it. The piston rod could have broke for a number of reason but it does seem a little weird that I got 40 hours of reliable operation out of the crank then five hours with vitos piston the rod broke .
  2. Well, after lots of thought and starring it come down to this. the yfz 450 arm are not made for a banshee!!!!! problems can vary from person to person doing these mods I know its pretty straight forward but when you try to swap parts from atv to atv and there not the same atv you going to have problems, especially if you are using used parts that are a little bent. (learned this the hard way) Anyway, I noticed when I was putting on the yfz spindles the ball joint bind up pretty good when you turn so thats my guess as to why it steers hard. I put my banshee spindles on the yfz a-arms and no binding, the upper ball joint it at a pretty extreme angle but it does not steer hard any more!! (WEIRD) It is still a little stiffer then stock but it is actually drivable and handles a lot better. that being said I would like to buy some a-arms that are made for a banshee someday but the yfz a-arms look so cool.
  3. Hey, Has anyone had any luck with this steering issue yet? I just did the conversion and all is good except the shocks rub the back of the upper a-arms, but I think I can fix that. But the biggest problem is the steering. The banshee handles great, but its super hard to steer. The only thing I can think of so far is maybe I my shocks are too long. I am running ltr450 shocks and I have not adjusted them down yet so it seems its pushing the a-arms down too much and it puts the ball joints at a funny angle. Any advise helps thanks.
  4. Is there a reason you cant use a spacer for a long rod? I see they sell long rod spacers and stroker spacers? I guess my question is stoker or long rod if you but a spacer in between the jugs and all the ports line up the piston is not hitting the head or crank it should work right?
  5. So here the deal I traded my 91 xr250r for a 99 banshee this banshee came with a box of parts! In this box of parts was a brand new crank! The banshee needed a top end rebuild when I ripped it apart I found it also needed a crank rebuild so I put the brand new crank in it and found that the piston pops out of the jug so it must be a stroker right? So the problem is how much of a stroker is it? And also I already have some new piston just plain old 65-mm pistons. So if it is a stroker can I get by with just a spacer plate or do I need different pistons or both. Also I think it's a hot rods crank simply because it has those rubber O-rings on the mid bearings instead of those little taps hanging off the bearings. And lastly I was hoping to keep this thing stock (lack of money) so if it is a stroker can I keep the stock pipes and carbs????
