  1. Thanks for reminding me to check the choke tube. Now it starts fine, idles great, and will run perfect untill about half throttle then falls on its face. No back-firing or anything like that, it just quits making power past about half throttle. I switched the mains from 340's to 350's, no change. Is it possible the jet thats under the main jet (cant remember what its called, saw it in my Clymber shop manual)is plugged or obstructed ?
  2. I dont think its the pilots, because its ran great in the past with this set up. Parking brake is removed. I am also having to use starter spray to get it to start. I have been wondering in the back of my head if it needs a rebuild, but dont think so because from just off idle to about 1/4 throttle it will pull your arms out of the sockets, then just boggs past 1/4 . I think I'm just going to get some newer (& bigger ?) carbs. Yesterday I started the new thread " what carbs would you suggest ". All of the motors mods are lised on that thrd. I appreciate all the help.
  3. I have a 91 Banshee that I bought new. Currently I'm running the factory carbs ( 340 mains & 25 pilots )and am thinking about upgrading. Motor has the following upggrades : head milled & re-domed, play porting, trued & welded crank, timing advanced, flywheel lightened, WEISCO Pro light pistons, IMS pro series connecting rods, FMF gold series pipes & silencers,FMF reeds, Pro-flow intake and filter, no airbox lid. What brand and size carb would you guys recommend ? I live in S.E. Kansas, ride fast trails and go to Little Sahara occasionally. Thanks
  4. The jets in both carbs have been taken out and cleaned and everything put back togeather. Both sides are running fine, but only for about 1/4 throttle. From that point on it boggs. I know it shound like the mains need changed, but I havnt changed anything on the motor for several years (its probably only ridden maybee 20 hrs. a year)and the jetting used to be spot on. BTW the motor has the following mods : Head milled & re-domed, play porting, trued & welded crank, timing advanced, flywheel lightened, running 340 mains and #25 pilots.
  5. Last night I removed the pilot jet, it looked good but I cleaned it anyway and re-assembled. Started it up and now the right side is missing out and left side is firing! Tonight I will dis-assemble the right carb, clean everything out and see what happens.
  6. Carbs were a little out of sync, fixed that. Checked main jet, its ok, forgot to check the pilot jet. Boots dont appear to be damaged. Still running the same. It doesnt backfire. Just dies when I let off the gas.
  7. TORS is removed. Switched the plug wires, and it still is not firing on the left side. Did notice that the left carb top doesnt tighten up to a stop like the right does. Its not cross threaded,(must have been sometime in the past) but instead of snugging up tight it will keep on spinning. Think this could possibly be leaking air ?
  8. Not sure if this is in the right catagory or not but here goes. When I start her up exhaust is coming from both pipes. After about 30 sec. the left side quits hitting, just spitting out cold air. Acts like a fouled plug or something. Switch plugs, same thing, left cylinder not hitting again. Can anyone give me some ideas ?
