There are so many options for you these days . Stick with some good used parts ( new ones concerning certain things of course ) from here and you should be able to keep on a pretty good budget.

Honestly your plastics are in really good shape just dirty. Your seat is super easy to get recovered and not very expensive.

If you don't ride your sportsman or you like this one better its a winning situation for you. As long as its not a ragged out junker.

The 660 raptors are pretty cheap these days. How much is the one your looking at. I think a 4 stroke would be more of what your looking for either way.

I agree with Burke. I have had about everything and the z400 by far took the most abuse. I had it piped,jetted and filtered so it wasnt crazy but it was a good machine. But then again I've heard a 400ex can take some abuse too. Like some has previously said it doesn't matter what you get because you will have to work on it at some point. The good thing is there are sites for just about every bike to walk you through every problem you could have. Personally I like 4 strokes for trails/dunes and just riding around and having fun. When it comes to drag racing though I'll take a banshee any day.

Since that's not an issue you'd be far happier doing it right the first time. Did I see somewhere that a redline serval on gas with inframes was making around 90hp? That's sounds like it'd be right up your alley.

That's the coolest bike you found ? Lol Your right on the whole money situation though. It is yours to do as you please but why not use it to your advantage? Your best bet would be to just learn a little bit and spend your money wisely. Maybe even best to cut your loss on that bike and sell it for 1500 or so. Look around on here... There are lots of built bikes done right.

Cam is right also. A lot depends on how long you want to wait to sell it.
