  1. Hey all, I have a stock '93 shee all except a fresh top end bored 90 over. I really not looking to mod it out. I just want it to run decent. My question is since its bored over so much should i get aftermarket pipes so it can breath better? And being bored like it is will that affect my jetting? I live at about 1100 feet and ride at 60-80 deg. fahenheit. Any suggestions there would be apreciated as well. One more thing. My clymers manual says to mix gas/oil 24to1 using yamalube. Seems rich?
  2. Thanks for the info...great help...should i go ahead and do a leak down test before i open it up and do a visual check?
  3. ok..tearing it back down tomarrow. will let you know what if find. dont know how to do a leak down test but im sure its somewhere here in the forums?
  4. This is my first banshee if you couldnt tell..lol so i am no mechanic but learning. With that said..I bought a fresh complete top end. New jugs, pistons, ring. It was a complete set bored .66 over. So All i had to do was bolt everything on. My fault for not checking compression right after it was built. I pre-oiled everything when i put it together. I still havent looked into why it overheaded yet...been just tryin to get it running right first. What kind of air leak will cause it to overheat? Some guy told me i might have a stuck ring. If i take to top end apart what should i look for as far as damaged rings, cylinder walls, pistions? thanks a bunch for your help!!
  5. Im not sure why it overheated. I didnt notice it was overheating till i stopped and heard the radiator bubbling. I saw no leaks anywhere. So maybe water pump. Not sure. All the problems started after it overheaded tho. So maybe your right..i need to take it back apart and check rings and skirts. Do you think the 115lbs compression is ok or not??
  6. I put a new top end on and it ran like a champ. After about the 10th hour of use one day it started overheating. Hasnt ran the same since. I did a compression test and got about 115lbs from both cylinders. Seems a little low but not sure. The only way I can get it to start is to take the breather off and shoot a tad bit of carb cleaner through the carbs. Once it starts I have to open the throtle a tad to keep it running. After it warms up a bit it will idle on its own. Problem is its only idling off one cyclinder. no smoke coming out of the other side. Just cold air. If I shoot more cleaner into the side thats not firing it will start firing till it burns off the carb cleaner and then stop again. I changed out the carb thinking it wasnt suppling fuel and it still does the same thing. Both plugs are getting spark. new plugs. Seems like a fuel problem but I dont know. I took out both carbs and cleaned them again. still the same thing. only one cyclinder fires. Any IDEAS??? Thanks
