  1. i would try all your local hardware and fastener stores too(fastenal), then all the bike shops just in case.. you might want to measure the exact length and size if possible, write it down.. and bring in the nut if you can find it. Also look for the hardest bolt grade you can, grade 8 would be best but grade 5 will probably work just fine
  2. they dont need to be, but why not sand em just to be sure? the bolt threads and the underside of the bolt head make a decent ground as it is.. BTW to update my previous post, my CDI box cuts out when it wants to, i get off and whack it with my hand, a rock or whatever is handy and she's good to go for a while.. from what i learned today i would give it the tap test just because
  3. Mine cuts out intermittently, if i come to a stop it might shut off so i have to bang on it with something(usually a rock) to get it working again.. this is getting old so if someone out there has a cheap stock CDI box they'd let go PM me, this is also for an 87. I've heard all years work and i've heard my plugs are different.. but if the price is right i'll make a different year work by splicing the plugs, Thanks
  4. I had a similar situation but it was after i left the bike sitting for 4-6 months and it would spark once per kick, not multiple times like it should.. causing it to not start no matter what.. replaced coil, sanded mounting spots, checked pickup coil gap, spark plug gap, coil resistance, ohm checked the stator, checked kill switch, etc with no luck, only after hitting the stock 1987 CDI box with the handle of a screwdriver did it start, and only took 3 kicks after that.. i would smack it just because it's there and a smack test is a valid test for auto ECM's
  5. If i were you i'd consider using a chemical like Big Z heavy duty degreaser to remove the blue annodizing.. it will turn silver and you can polish it lightly from there, shouldn't take much... the bg Z is an industrial product used at truck shops and the like, dilluted it will strip annodizing and burn your skin so be careful.. PM me if you wanna do this and have questions
  6. YGPM, and guys if you wanna go it won't be a big deal, we plan on camping on the sand anyway.. i met some new guys in my EMT class tonight that ride quads so maybe i can get a group together for spring break. I think i have April 1st through 8th free but i wont be at the dunes the whole time
  7. So far the plan is me and my friend are going to sand lake somewhere between march 28th and april 6th for 4 days.. taking my banshee, my VW powered sandrail and his VW baja bug, i'm excited as hell! LMK if any of you other guys can make it
  8. I live an hour west of olympia, but we have a place by moses lake where i ride too... Usually i tow the rail over to the moses lake dunes.. these days i'm really busy but i'm trying to make time since i got the banshee out again, Later markclark250@yahoo.com
  9. So my stock coil from 1987 decided to take a dump on me, so i need a good condition stocker with wires and the little plastic clip that holds the wires in.. I could use one ASAP and as cheap as possible so shoot me offers! i have a pair of stock carbs, stock head(s) for trade or i'll pay with cash, money order or paypal.. the carbs and head are basically new, from my friends 08. PM me here or email me at markclark250@yahoo.com
