  1. Alright, I got these carbs today and have them installed, seem to be an okay carb, kinda cheap quality imo. My question is, what have you guys done to get clearance for the clutch, the nut on the bottom of the bowl is rubbing the top of the clutch, I slightly bent the clutch linkage down, this helped, but not the cure. I even put the crap reed spacers that came with the quad back on to get the clearance, but still not enough. thanks in advance guys. kap

  3. yeah, I know how to plug chop, like I say my biggest concern is running a fresh engine lean, I think I'll start at the 340, might even throw in the 350's just to be safe, then once its broke in, do some plug chops and see where its at. Way I look at it is plugs are cheaper than pistons!! Thanks for the info on the head, I had read that 24cc was stock, and the bottom line was I got a deal, it was the polished one,brand new with orings and studs and came with the 22's and I picked it up for $90. But I was debateing on different domes, I had read 21 were good, but if you are having good luck with 20's maybe I'll go that route. Any info at this point is helpful to me, Im new to this banshee thing, and prior to this the last 2 stroke I had was my kx500 and that was back in 98, so I remember a lot, but have lost a lot of my 2 stroke tuning memory too!
  4. its got the larger needles in it, it appears as though someone jetted it prior to me owning it, they just had it set up way to rich, other than reeds and air filter it was stock, but they had the larger needles in clip 4, 280 mains, and 35 pilots. I'll start with the 340's in, my biggest concern is I dont want to start a fresh engine and be on the lean side, Also the pipes are fatties.
  5. Hello, I'm new to the forum, 2 weeks ago I sold my 400ex and decided I wanted another 2 stroke again, it's been about 10 years. So I went out and bought a 1996 banshee which was claimed to be just rebuilt (funny how all 2 strokes are), anyways, to say the least, my slightly modded 400ex I just had sold would easily destroy this thing so I knew something was up. Tore it apart and found out cyl 1 was bored .020 and cyl 2 was bored .030 and no, neither were fresh. So its in the garage in pieces and most of the parts are ordered, got new pistons, bored it .040, had it trail ported, bought fmf pipes and a slug of jets, and also ordered a cool head with 22cc domes. It had the air box mods when I got it along with a K&N and a set of boysen power reeds, along with the worthless boost bottle and reed spacers. The only thing I have yet to order but am planning on it a timing advance plate and plan on running +4, sounds like this make them happy. With that said, heres the question, just to save myself alot of headache changing jets all day (I know I'll have to change some) does anyone have a good baseline on what to run for jets. I'm at 600ft elevation, and bought 280,300,320,340,350,360 for jets. I have the needle in the 3rd position, and someone put in larger pilots, it has 35's. I know I am going to have to change jets to get her dialed in, but if anyone has any input it might save me from having to go through all the jets. Also does this setup work good with the banshee, Ive done some reading and ordered up all the parts, and think its going to be good but would like a second opinion. Also are the stock carbs good enough for this setup or should I step them up to a 28 or 30. thanks in advance.
