  1. omg you guys, k, am i not asking the right question or what. i want to know if there is any concern w/ the dark color which would be carbon on the bottom of the threaded part of the plug. if you looked at the plugs you can see the one on the right is completely covered and the one on the left isn't. is this anything to be concerned w/ and/or why is it like that.
  2. to answere yes new plugs & the only thing i didn't do was cut the plugs. so if you read the first post i mentioned i could see i was running lean and i made adjustments. what im asking again is if you look at the plugs there is carbon deposits on the outer ring of the threads. the one on the right has a full circle completely around it of carbon and the one on the left has only about half or so. is this telling me something still isn't right? also the one on the right the center electrode is white on the top of it and the left one was greyish, is this something to be concerned w/ also? i tried getting pics but that part didn't turn out good.
  3. another thing i forgot to mention was that on the one w/ all the carbon on the outer ring the center electrode was white on the top and the one w/ only half the center electrode was gray. does this also mean anything or to be concerned w/?
  4. i didn't do exactly a plug chop, i could see good enough inside that i was running lean so i made adjustmensts and this is what they look like after about 2hrs riding on them. just noticed on the right the outer part is completely covered w/ carbon and the one on the left is only about half. is this something to be concerned w/? what do you think as far as how they look? im running 40:1 on 93 oct. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/uploads/12...1020_165540.jpg
  5. heres a front image, dont have one of the back. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/uploads/12...1020_155228.jpg
  6. friend of mine cut his front & rear fenders and wanted some thoughts, what do you guys think? hopefully i did this right to get the link to the picture. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/uploads/12...1020_246000.jpg
  7. i was talking to a friend the other day and told me that when you crack the throttle you loose a little at first but the best thing to do is crack it open twice then the power is there. i want all the power when i want it, not doing something twice like that. what im thinking is that when i crack that throttle it should w/o doubt on pavement bring the front up w/o any problems. but it just doesn't seem it has what it takes to do it. im new to the whole 2 stroke and just wondering if my thinking is right. i hope i explained this for someone to understand and hopefully get some input.
  8. cool thanks for the input, all the post i read and help i gotten off here has been great for a beginner. i tried moving the clip down one and really seemed to help except for getting rid of the raspy sound. seems like it is coming from the 1/8 to 1/4 throttle. so im thinking of going to a 52 on the pilot jet. am i thinking right?
  9. im also around 615ft above sea
  10. i have a 96 and having problems and new to the banshees. it will sit and idle beautiful, crack the throttle and good response but you ride and get above the 1/4 throttle it seems raspy, may backfire and seems no power but then you hit the powerband holycow hold on. im running my premix at 40:1, running pwk 28s 155main, 50pilot and needle on 3rd pos. from top. i have k&n air pods, w/ a hard plastic reed spacers on the jug side, running w/ stock reed cages w/ boysen pro stock carbon fiber reeds, im bored out .040 w/ a light port polish (looks like just a clean up), i have pro circuit platinums w/ 304 silencers. everything else is stock, can anyone tell me what i could try or does this seem right? i thought about moving the clip up to the 2nd position.
  11. another question is it bad to run full synthetic premix on a fresh rebuild? running on break in period.
  12. well after about yr now finally got my first shee running. couple of little problems but i think they are not of major concerns but maybe someone can help me. had problems w/ clutch, either clutch would engage or would not. did the adjustmenst as i found on here (and thank all you guys out there for that). I got it where i have clutch and doesn't seem to slip but when i start it and put in gear it starts rolling and its a biotch to get in neutral. buddy of mine rode it and got it to go in as he was rolling at good speed and when put back in gear was grabbing. but as soon as he rode around and stopped in first it started grabbing again. another concern is that the left silencer is dry and the right one is noticably wet and smells like carbon. this is a fresh rebuild and im running klotz techniplate r-50 at 20:1, has pwk 28 and pods. another thing is i have a really small leak from both jugs at the top where the head meets and they are coming from the same spot on both jugs, right above exhaust port. i read in manual that when putting new gasket on to put the up side up. well mine didn't have a up or down side on the gasket, but noticed that the gasket had a raised side to the gasket. so when i put the gasket on i put the raised side up? can someone enlighten me on this, help would greatttttly appreciated. I did check specs on the clutch, it is a new clutch but i did notice that the clutch cushions are missing. could this be the deal w/ my adjustments and is that bad to ride w/o them?
  13. cool, thanks for all the input. im going w/ the +4 on the timing. minus the timing i should have this up and running hopefully tom. if all goes well. only rode it once since i got it, so i can't wait.
  14. nope still have it, came w/ so i'm just gonna keep it
  15. just curious for what mods i have am i setup more on the low, mid or highs?
  16. also i heard that they are suppose to broaden the powerband. yes the deal w/ airbox is a pain in the a@#, so guess it's whether you want to deal w/ that or not but w/ pods you dont.
  17. very good point, debating on keeping mine now
  18. k, i was at least able to get pic to upload in member gallery pics.
  19. cant get image to load, saying to big.
  20. i'm not too sure about what area the spacer helps but I heard that they help w/ getting more fuel. when i bought mine it had one on it and i'm keeping mine on. but hell what do i know i'm new at all this too, lol.
  21. k, i was able to look at pics i took of my juggs when i tore it down. I did get a pic of the btm of the jugg and there are were no coolant plugs in them when i took them off. When i did ride it, there was no coolant leakage outside or inside or at least no signs of any leakage. so this isn't making any sense that they are suppose to be there or i will have a leakage problem but before i tore it down they wasn't there and no problem w/ leakage. any thoughts?
  22. thanks. sorry about posting this in the wrong section guys/gals, my bad.
  23. i bought a set of keihin pwk 28mm carbs. wanting to know where would a good start for the main and pilot jetting? i have a set of pods, stock reed cage w/ spacer w/ boyesen pro stock carbon reeds, timing set at stock, pro circuit pipes, jugs been bored .040 and a light port and polish, and elevation about 600ft above.
  24. thanks. sounds like a definate good idea to do the leak down test. you mentioned rinse, what do you mean by that? another question, i read in the manual that there are suppose to be rubber plugs on the bottom of the jugs for coolant (?) are they suppose to be there? i dont ever recall them being there when i took them off? should i put some in?
  25. Hi everyone! Im new to the atv's, I got my first banshee a yr ago. I traded even up my 95 honda shadow motorcycle for the 96 banshee last summer. I only got not even one day ride out of it and found out the top end needed rebuilt. so i went ahead and took the jugs in found out it was .030 over and i had to go to .040 over and had a light port polish done as well. i put a set of 28mm keihin pwk carbs on w/ pods and the banshee came w/ a boost bottle and pro circuit platinum pipes, also has a spacer for the reed cages. other than that everything is stock. through the winter went through and tore frame completely down and painted, actually everything has been cleaned up and painted. i just ordered the carbon boyesen super stock reeds. so hopefully ready to run this weekend. but i wanted some thoughts on this build, anything i should be concerned w/ or possibly need to look into? whats the best way to break in the motor as well? any serious thoughts and opinions appreciated.
