Thinking about starting this
alongfortheride replied to Dahl87banshee's topic in YFZ - Banshee Conversion Forum
The pne we did we removed the original motor maount bars on front shortened and relocated them. We used stock front banshee motor mount plates and the stock lower snubbers. We had a bent up banshee frame that we sacrificed mounts off. So the mount look fairly stock. We used t5 pipes which we cut and rotated until we got them out in the right direction we have great pipe clearance. no more melting of the riding pants. I have ridden it several times and have never had it overheat. Our thought was use as many off the shelf parts as possible. like the stock banshee motor mount plates and lower rubber snubbers. Ill tell you these are a blast to ride. I am very happy with mine. -
2000 banshee motor runs great. I do not know what is inside. i purchased it in a bike for parts. I have installed it in my banshee and rode it half a dozen times. it runs great. The down fall is the chain was blown off at one point in its life and broke the case. The kick starter had also kicked back at one point in life and broke the cae on the other side. The case has been welded on the kickstarter side. transmission shifts great engine runs good. i am asking 650.00 shipped in the us doesnot include the stator carbs or pipes. Will include the adjustable stator plate. i am located in Eureka Ca

I agree cutting the frame in half is the lazy way to go. it can be done without molesting it. pipes can be made to work.

I took mine out to the beach for the first time. Ran great. Used toomey t5 pipes and silencerss pod k&n filters. Was going to use a 2 into 1 filter however just not enough room. Bike rides great my only complaint is i feel the steering stem needs to be taller. Stops well jumps well. Turns great and goes through woops wonderful. i dought Ill ever ride my other banshee again. I am going to build another one. \

Whats funny is these bikes if they were new at the dealer were supppose to be destroyed. this guy better be careful he could sell it and be in for a hell of a law suit by the owner or honda -

looking for motofast 2 into 1 exhaust for banshee zip code is 95503 pm me with pics and price thanks
-
nice i like it old school air cooled
-
thats kind of my plan. Heck it might ride like crap. I picked up a banshee parts bike and a blown up yfz for under 1500.00 and sold quite a few of the good parts left from the yfz engine. Fun project. i hope it handles well well see

Herte you go i do not have the chain slider or rollers on
-
Yah ok whatever you say LOL
-
just curious
-
are you adding a pair of down bars once you fit the pipes to restore the front frame structure
-
just curious where did you get your engineering degree? thats what i thought
-
Whatever dude i have hung a chain on it and it will be fine. thanks for all the quality advice. have a nice day

i have posted this info just to show how i have done it. i would not have cut main tube structure out of the frame to make it easy like others have done either but do you see me critizing them the 1/4 inch plate is the same exact thickness as a sprocket with in .010 the motor has been installed and chain alignment checked several times. the swing arm was on before this picture was taken.
-
I had a 450 enigne with a hole throught the bottom. We installed that engine. then we made a template and cut a chunk of 1/4 inch plate which bolted on the countershfat where the sprocket would then we bolted that fixture into several different spots on the frame. we took some measurements etc. removed the engine and then determined the placement of the banshee angine we then bored a hole in the same 1/4 inch plate and hung the engine. before we did that we did reinstall the yfz engine. the plate was inline. we removed engine and installed the swing arm spacer and torqued swing arm bolt. the spacer measured 2.538n inches. then we installed the banshee motor. We removed the front mounts completely and reworked shortened positioned etc to work with the stock banshee motor mount plates. We also built a lower cross member and used stock banshee lower snubbers and mounts to boot. i will post some pics if any one is interested. link me to your thread

Not sure on the weight issue. However you are removing the battery harness air box and several other things from the yfz chassis. We are beginning to cut and manipulate the t5 pipes to fit then they will get tiged just like the frame this chassis came with a blown aprt 450 engine. i am not sure on the weight
-
No leaks this engine came out of a parts bike i bought for 450 it ran and shifted through the gears i am working on getting it together so it can be ridden. if i like it then i will worry about the cases powder coat etc. Who knows it might ride like crap.
