I have a 2000 banshee that I bought 2 seasons ago. It's had a ticking sound in the left(stators side) of the case. I've pulled the stator cover off and and checked it out but the ticking doesn't seem to be coming from the stator. I've had people tell me it could be a bearing in the crank or the typical "every banshee makes some kind of odd sound". For the last two seasons I've told myself if it breaks, it breaks, then I'll fix it up a bit. It's mostly stock besides fmf pipes and silencers.
Recently it takes 5-10 kicks to start. Used to start up 1-3. Figured I'd check the compression. Left cylinder is 100. Right cylinder is 112. A buddy told me it's a sign that the bearing could be the cause for the difference in compression, something to do with stress on the crank.
I don't have the money to dump into my banshee at the moment so I've just been avoiding the problem. I'm bummed cause I'm suppose to go to Dumont on Monday.
So tell me what you guys think. I've been lurking on here quite a bit and you guys definitely seem to know your banshees.
