  1. So Sunday we were at the dunes for about 9 hours, and just like it always does, smokes like hell from the right cylinder, but once its warm, there is no more smoke. I am leaning on the seals. I guess I will have to redo them sometime, maybe this winter!
  2. Well I took the flywheel off, cleaned if all up, and the stator (wire brush to all stator ends) put it back together and it was gapped at .020 for the pickup. I started it up and it seemed to be running on both cylinders, but I did not run it for long because I did not want to wake up the neighbors. I will see if its better tomorrow. If not I guess I will be building a leak down tester.
  3. I have switched the spark plugs many times, and added new ones as well. I will clean the flywheel, stator, gap it and see what it does. I have not inspected the wiring harness but believe it to be in good shape. What I was kinda thinking is that maybe it only had enough spark for 1 plug, and it was taking the path of the least resistance (left side maybe for some reason). I will just have to clean it up and see.
  4. I have switched the leads many times, and the problem is always on the right side. I only sprayed starter fluid around the motor when it was ideling, and did not see any change. I also do not believe it to be the reeds because I have also swapped them, and they looked fine.
  5. This is what I have: 4 mil crank, still running the spacer plate until I get it ported and head cut. I have not found any leaks on the engine. Single carb with a 35mm PWK. Both sides have spark when pulling both plugs and laying them on the motor. Left seems to be ideling just fine, and gets hot after a little while of ideling. Right side just smokes, but does not get hot at idle. Seems that it does kick in when revving up, but never stops smoking. Compression is 140 left / 145 Right. When we replaced the crank I got the comment "I am suprised this stator still works" It does look a little dirty and such, but still puts out, because I have spark and lights, right? So.... could it be the coil? CDI? Stator? I am looking up to the masters of the Banshees for the answer. I have searched, and they all say to start with the carbS... I only have one, so I believe that can be taken out of the equatuation.... Please help. Thanks, Brad
