  1. Well being pissed off all nite trying to read and tinker with my bike to figure it out I just left it alone. Changed the plugs cleaned the filters disconnected a few wires and let it sit. Woke up this morning put all the connections back toegether with dielectric grease - put in fresh gas and it fired the first kick. Something got wet or the air cleaners wer just so damn dirty and wet ... The TORS things is that I dont have any boxes or anything on top of my carbs. It has a kill switch wired in to the handle bars but it doesnt work. My key is under my seat so I couldnt save myself by shutting it off if it ever does stick again. I do have the box but nothing on top of my carbs. does the box need to come out too?? How about some help on this kill switcgh. where it goes and which wires to hook up right my on off switch on the left side of the handlevars - none of that works - only my light switch work. I think someone has re wired the hell out of this thing and left a lot of loose connections. Theres speaker wire ran to the back for a brake light so someone was int the cookie jar at sometime I am afraid that to do it right I may need a whole new stock harness and wire this thing up how it is supposed to be and go from there. The tors thing I want gone but still confused on it even after reading 30 posts. Does it automatically make it run like shit after being engaged and how does it reset itself?/
  2. Was running real good down at the river. My buddy broke down on his 250r, so I was gonna give him a ride back to camp. We went through a small muddy water puddle about 20 feet long and after that about 50 feet later the throttle stuck, I pulled back on the thumb throttle it unstuck it acted as though it was running out of gas and surging and then it just died. I can kick it and it will idle but terribly bad. It surges and you try to give it gas and it just bogs and dies like your choking it. I took the plugs out - put new ones in - blew out the boots on the wires and let it sit to maybe "dry out" hell I dont know. Put it all back together - 1st kick fires right up but acts as though its fouled or choked or out of gas. it idles very slow and the lights just surge and the bike has no anything - just idles give it gas and it dies. It is a 1991 - been ported , wiseco pistons running 89 octane mixed half with 110 vp because that all I could get down here is 89 octane. PJ1 goldfire oil. When plugs are pulled they are black and looks like oil coated or a lil wet some carbon build up. my mix is 36:1 . the guy before me ran it that way for a while i guess so I just stuck with it. PLease help. I dont know what this TORS that you guys talk about is but on top of my carbs all I have is a line coming out of the top of each going into one and then to the throttle. I dont know if im fouling plugs due to it idling like crap but someon help. Ive never messed with idle screws jets etc it was all done when I bought it and it ran fine untill now. Only had it 3 weeks. Put maybe 25 hours on it since.
  3. I wasn't concerned with the ratio as much as I was concerned with the fact that I had or may have two differnt types of oils in the same tank. I've heard it can gel up and not provide the needed lubrication and possibly seize up. certain oils I know you can mix with no trouble. I was wondering if anyone knew which ones couldnt intermix and if the lucas 2- stroke oil is worh a f*ck or not. Should I keep using it - should I go back to the castor 927 - which oil is preffered by most? Will lucas and castor together cause a problem? I know that on the back of the Amsoil bottle is says DO NOT mix with Castor. Big red letters. Lucas had no warning on the back. I just wanted to make sure. Id prefer to use amsoil in everything I own but I dont know the proper procedure to change it all out and make sure all the old castor is out of the bike completely. I put at least 10 hours alone on it last weekend is why I was wondering if i really has to re-ring it already. That would sure become a pain in the a$$ and the pocket book. If they are that much of a hassle to maintain I may consider the yzf450
  4. My compression is 153 left and 157 right. I kicked over each side 5 times and tried to keep the same amount of force for each kick on each side. The motor is a duncan racing engine. Anyone familiar with these? Had a guy at work offer me his 2006 yzf450 and a thousand for my banshee. Almost tempted me, but I like my banshee so far even though ive only had it for a little while. the sound of a two stroke and power of this machine just do it for me. Maybe im done for not trading. he said his yzf450 would eat me for lunch ...... I havent had a chance to race him yet. to be continued ...
  5. Thank you guys - I will check compression tommorow at work. I will bring it in the morning and let you guys know tyhe compression tommorow nite.
  6. Sorry it also has a decked head, boost tube (why are they pointless) the theory behind it sounds legit? Different gears, Toomey T-5's ... 330 main jet is all he told me that he could remember. The bike is a 1991.
  7. Hello All. Thanks for looking. I got this banshee last week from a guy that took really good care of it. I traded a salvage title CBR1000 for it that he plans on putting the motor into his other banshee frame. ANYWAYS - I need advise on what fluid to put back into the bike. He said he has some syntetic 10w40 in there now. Personally, riding harleys for years I think it needs something a little thicker, but I don't know. What do you suggest. My concerns are that I was out in the dunes buy the river and ran close to empty on fuel. I still had some left but not enough to get me back. I used another guy pre mix that he had and now im finding out that - that is a no no. The bike has always used Castor 927 and VP 110. This guy had 91 and Lucas Semi-Synthetic 2 stroke oil in his. His was mixed at 40:1 and mine has always had 36:1. Will the 2 different oils in there cause me trouble? Should I drain it all or should I start running the Lucas since its already in there now? HELP! Next is that in nuetral it idles pretty decent. Once in first and warmed up if i pull up next to someone and hold my clutch in the bike bogs down and dies pretty fast within 30 seconds or so even if i try to throttle it up it acts as if its being choked out. Any help on this from someone. Its like its still under load or something. as long as im moving it runs like a striped a$$ ape though. The motor I was told is bored and polished. I dont know how big because I havent had it apart and he said he didnt remember but that it hasnt been sleeved or anything. It was the second bore and overhaul. He has had sometiime playing with it and its running good now. Should I go ahead and re-ring it and get it honed or wait till it stops running good on me? How do I know when its time to do an overhaul on the top end? Next I heard that you are supposes to replace your reeds every season? True? This bike has brand new V-Force 3 on it and damn that will be expensive to replace every year. Anyways thanks in advance to all the experts out there. If it works I will enclose a picture of the bike. Also, rings and cylinder honing every year or 10 hours? true?
