  1. Hey everyone I've rencently upgraded the exhaust on my '01. After removing/disconnecting the TORS (Thanks BHQ!) the bike starts easy, idles well but has NO powerband. It burbles, smokes ALOT, and doesnt want to get out of it's own way. The plugs looks black and wet so I assume this is a rich condition. Here are my specs: 1) What type of aftermarket exhaust do you have? Paul Turner Mids 2) What type of airfilter do you have? k&N 3) running a stock airbox with lid 4) What is your elevation? 450feet (Dallas) 5) What size pilot jets are you using? stock 6) What size main jets are you using? 280 7) What temperature is your Banshee jetted for? 40-105 8) Do you have a port job? no 9) What kind of carbs? stock (TORS eliminated) 10) What size carbs? stock 11) YAMAHA premix at 24:1 per the manual Is there a "jet kit" available with various sizes of needles/jets or do I have to buy them all piece by piece? I have no idea what sizes I would even need to ask for. Thanks in advance!
  2. the pilot jets are factory. I will pull them and make sure theyre clean. I definitely feel like the air screws are sitting properly. I did NOT remove the TORS box...I will do that asap. thanks so much everyone
  3. Hey everyone I just installed a complete TORS elim kit. The carbs have had the idle screws drilled and tapped in. I have been messing with this thing for 2 days and I cant get it to idle. It starts fine but unless I feather the throttle, it will die. Ive taken the carbs apart and cleand them twice. It idled fine up until I took the TORS system off. Just installed PT Mid Revs with 280 mains. Everything else is stock. Thanks in advance! T
  4. Hey Muggzy Thanks so much for the instructions. I am going to take a crack at it. If I get in a jam, I know where to come for help! T
  5. Hey Everyone, I know this is really easy for many of you and I apologize in advance but I got the TORS removal kit complete with the idle adjustment screws/taps. I got a bad feeling Im going to eff up my carbs once I start drilling into them. Is there a DETAILED step by step (including pictures) thread on installing the TORS kit? Thanks! T
  6. I just found this post...EXCELLENT....Im going to be ordering my plate soon. Is there a post detailed, step by step on installing the TORS elimination kit? Thanks
  7. I definitely understand about the tits, my wife cant believe what I'm doing with the Banshee. Of course, I'm supposed to understand her $1000 purse. (Yes, I said $1000!) I bitched about the money but when I cracked the throttle open Saturday, I didnt give a damn about the bank. T
  8. I got my bone stock 2000 Banshee about a month ago and I've been collecting parts and things. I've ordered TORS eliminator kit, jets, K&N filter, PT Mid-revs and Fatboys (used), a new (used) set of headlights, various liquids, nuts and bolts, carb sync tool, and some other minor things. I'm no where NEAR done...every time I think I can stop, I see something I need! When will it all end? By the way, I'm about to order the timing plate... T
  9. Hey Man I also just got my first Banshee (and my first quad) and I'm in learning mode as well. You'll learn quite a bit just reading through the years of posts on this site. Let's see some pics of your 'Shee! T
  10. thanks for the words and advice! I'll keep you posted on my progress.
  11. Looking for a set of PT Hi Rev. NO DENTS! PM Me if you gottem!
  12. I got my 2000 Banshee a couple of weeks ago! It is pretty clean and bone stock. The previous owner had let is set for a few years but it starts and run strong. It's a bit flat and sputters on the bottom but the power band comes alive hard in the midrange. I haven't run it out fully to get a feel for the top end. Hopefully a tune up will cure the bottom end sputtering. It has a little over a 100lbs of compression in both cylinders. (Thats pretty good isn't it?) It needs a few things and after taking an inventory, here is a list of the things I plan to do in the order I plan to do them. I'd appreciate any input on revising the list if necessary: 1. Manual (ordered today) 2. plugs, fluids change, carb cleaning/sync, overall cleaning and degreasing (any suggestions for a good degreaser?) 3. lower chain roller (missing) 4. fender braces (missing. Are the aftermarket ones on ebay any good?) 5. TORS eliminator kit 6. timing plate 7. stainless bolt kit (it's got several missing bolts...mostly for plastic) 8. new front tires 9. exhaust (the exhaust hangers for the factory pipes appear to have come apart and both pipes are loose) 10. Reeds/cage 11. cool head 12. rt headlamp (missing)
  13. Hey everyone Im going to look at this Banshee this weekend...this is what the ad says: ///// 2001 YAMAHA BANSHEE I have not rode in three years, cleaned carbs and changed oil it fired right up and runs great, toomey T5 full exhaust, wiesco pistons and boost bottle, twist throtle....priced to sell....$2300...call Tommy ANYTIME ///// I've read about the boost bottle already but what do you think of the fact that it hadn't been run in 3 years? What should I be on the look out for? Thanks! T
  14. Hey everyone, I've been lurking on this site for awhile while saving up for a Shee. I love his site and I've learned a hell of a lot about Banshees even though I dont yet own one. I currently have a couple of 3 wheelers (1985 250R and a 1986 Tecate) but I'm looking for something a bit more modern, reliable and parts friendly. I've wanted a Banshee for a LOONNNG time and I'm finally getting ready to pull the trigger. I've been watching the DFW Craigslist and I haven't seen a Shee with an asking price of less than $3000!!!! Most of them are advertised for around $3500 but that seems REALLY high. I've seen modern 4 stroke race quads advertised for the same price! Are there any Texas people here that can tell me if the market for Banshees is really that strong in Dallas/Ft. Worth? My price range is $2000-$2500 ideally and I'm looking for a clean, stock machine (I'll get my own mods later). I've read about several people on this site that very recently found bikes in great shape for my kind of money albeit in other parts of the country. I really want a Banshee but if I cant find one for less than $3K I may have to go the 4 stroke route. Thanks in advance for the feedback and again, EXCELLENT SITE! T
