  1. You have approximately the same mods as I do, and I raced a 700 with the trick exhaust and some sort of electronic plug in power booster and it wasnt even close. We were at St anthonys sand dunes in idaho and we were racing up choke cherry. I gave the raptor about a 30 yard head start and had him passed by about the time we were half the way up the hill. I was able to get to the top, turn around and shut the bike down before he came over the top, I was not impressed!
  2. I have a set of fmf golds that were chrome. I lightly sanded them, hit them with some hi-temp flat black paint and then baked them on my bbq lol. It sounds kinda stupid but they turned out real nice and once that paint was baked it became tough as all get out!
  3. Kinda sounds like an air leak creating a lean condition.
  4. When my banshee was misfiring on one cylinder it was because one of my gaskets failed and was letting air into crankcase which created a lean condition so that cylinder wasnt firing correctly. This really killed the power and can really cause some damage too, dont know if thats your problem but its worth looking into!
  5. Im in need of a new crank and was wondering if anyone has heard how good wiseco cranks are. Please let me know what u know!
  6. Hey guys, I just had a crank bearing go and wow I never knew a piston and the head could look like that but oh well, the faster they go the faster they go! Well I need a new set of pistons (with rings, wrist pins, bearings, and the works), but I am having a hard time deciding which ones to buy. I know I wiseco is supposed to be good but has anyone used the wsm pistons or is there another brand that would be better? By the way, anyone have a trued and welded crank they would like to donate? lol!
  7. I had a similar problem, but it turned out to be a big air leak from the base gasket on the cylinder and I would only get a pop and sputter at certain rpms, might be worth it to do a leak down test to make sure your not getting air in.
  8. Hey was it normal for fmf pipes to be pounded in for clearance and a new piece of sheet metal welded on where the pipe goes past the cylinder? I bought this thing with the pipes allready on it, I think they are pretty old but not sure, did fmf have a problem with the fit and finish in the early years? But the biggest question of all, if I throw the pieces of crap away what is gonna give me the most gnarly top end? My shee has trinity stage 3 porting, +4 degree timing, trinity stage 4 cool head with I think 12cc domes (not sure on that part), lightened flywheel, 34mm mikuni flat slide carbs (that have been bored out to 35.5mm by k&t performance, or at least that is what I was told). Right now I am running 300 main jets and I probably need to step up a size (plugs look a little to white when I pull them). And I know you all are not fans of Trinity but give a brother a break I bought it this way and I still beat up on plenty of those four strokes that think they can hang!
  9. What I meant was get oversized pistons and have it bored, and as far as the milling goes I would take it to a good machine shop and have them measure how much can safely be taken off without hitting pistons against the head.
  10. Just milling the head, installing a set of wiseco racing pistons and putting k&n air filters on can really make a noticable difference, but make sure to re-jet after the work is finished!
  11. I Just came back from the sand dunes in St Anthony Idaho and the shee ran really good, but after hearing what you all had to say about trinity stuff (my shee has trinity stageIII porting), I was wondering if I would notice a big difference if I were to take my cylinders down to k&t perfomance seeing how kim muchmore lives litterally in my brothers back yard, and have him do a little porting on them? I was also wondering how much difference it would make going from stock reed cages to the v-force reeds and cages, if it is only a nominal difference I dont know if its worth the 230.00 price tag, what do the experts say? By the way I have bored out 34mm mikuni flat slide carbs on it.
  12. Turns out that the gasket at the base of the cylinder was sucking a lot of air and it was way to lean to fire, once I fixed this problem it ran like a screamin demon. We ended up going to St Anthony and I beat up on a raptor 700 with mods. I let him go first to make it a little more fair but I beat him to the top of chokecherry by a long shot and im still running at least one main to rich!
  13. I did switch the plug wires, put in new plugs, the intake is billet milled with a o ring sealed crossover tube. Im just bummed cuz im supposed to go to the dunes in two days and its not gonna happen.
  14. I just finished tearing down and rebuilding my banshee, with exception to the engine but when I fired it up it will only run on one cylinder! I checked for spark and fuel and compression and all seem to be working fine. It does pop and fire a little bit sometimes but for the most part it isnt working.
