Cougar is a spread bore correct? Whats the line up from smallest to biggest.
Stock,,cub,,super cub,,Cheetah,,Dm,,Dmx,,Cougar etc etc??
Theres no way i'm gonna build a tripple right off the get go. I'm leaning toward a cougar perhaps a 18 or 20mil. Should get my weight down the track nicely.
wher are you from paddle you should go to a track with some fast bikes and watch them run and ask questions to anyone there most people love to talk about there bikes find out what there running and see what fits your tate the best

motor: 18mm or if your going that big may look into the 20mm's dm/dmx: billet cases is a must for reliability, the trans i would at the very very least run a billet 2nd gear set with a 1-5 override. carbs depends on the builders suggestions 39-44's is normal. pipes same again, custom built ones for that specific motor would cost a little more or which ever is found to work best at the time..
the lock up is deffinitly a must as well, the way that they work is centrifugal force pulls the arms that the weights are on out away from the center, the arms are pressing directly onto the pressure plate holding the clutches together.. with that being said, the mattoon clutch system would work better for the bigger motors i would think.
an 18 mill dm or 18 mill dmx will run with or out run alot of the 20s motors 20 to 26 if i was going to speed the money to build another big motor myself it would be a tripple of some sort if i was going to stay with a twin i would run a spreed bore cougar or caracal ive seem a 26mill cougar run strong as hell (with 18mill tripple twister)the tripple snomo motors are fast if your going to go big go real big do a cougar or tripple or even a tripple cougar because if your going to build over winter you better build something thats the biggest out there now cause race time next year it will be to small and something bigger and faster will new and out at the track somewhere

Running a big motor I hear you have to break it down ever pass or ever couple passes to check things and make solid runs, true or false? Would you happen to know what the DMX top ends are running price wise? Koolguyson would you happen to have a pic of your bike?
false on the tearing it down part i weigh 255 ilba never had tranny problems out of my d.m. heres my 18mill i tore it down 1 time during the middle of a season

Was that bare chassis built by Rowan Racing by chance?
~Teddy~
might have been i bought it off a fella at the track and he cannot remember eithier why does it look like what he built
-
my 18mill d.m. has a 2-5 with billet second been running it for 3 season no problem you also should look into a twin cougar setup they are a spread bore will not fit into stock cases and billet cases have to be a spread bore then you could always do a tripple cylinder shee setup or a tripple snomo motor

you want to get into 3s at 275 run a 10mill or bigger build a 10 if you build a 12 you can build a 14 for same price if you build a 16 then you can build a 18 for the same amount give or take 2 or 3 hundred difference and 2 or 3 hundred difference is nothing when building a big motor also some strokes seem to be a magic combination 10 mills or 16 mills both run strong but a 18 mill d.m. run strong as hell my 18mill has beat alot of bigger bikes 24mill twisters and 24mill cougar cyl. 20-24mill bike run fast but 18mills can run with them pass after pass then you have the little 4mill D.M. that is a rocket ship which will get you into the 3s with just a 4mill stroke they run about 2tenths off the big bikes like 18-24 mill and i have seen the 4mill d.m. beat 10mills even a 10mill d.m. but your 275 you need a big motor to haul you wieght down the track

whats the floor pans look like and quarter panels how much rust is in the whole car can you throw a cat threw it anywhere on the body
-
I dont think the 700 will smoke u how far u racing would drop the front sproket, i would also stroke it ,port the stock cylinders for the stroker crank, get you some carbs then race that slow ass 700
-
did you soak the fiber discs overnight in fluid also did you have the forks of the rods they look the same but 2 are the same and 1 is different also did the pressure plate seat in to the hub it may not have seated might need to turn the inner hub a little bit to get the inner hub and pressure plate to line up right
