  5. the point of me asking is because my clutch is riding on its last days and i need to start thinking of replacing it. the lockup clutch idea just came up because they are pretty fancy looking and are said to be more durable. now that i got some insight, im pretty sure a lockup isnt the cure to my clutch problem. so i will need to replace my clutch regaurdless, right? and if i wanna go xtream then i buy the lockup assmelby.
  6. well i assembled the bike, and bought new and used performance parts. the carbs were used and alot larger
  7. wow... so what would average joe such as myself want? sling shot or lockup? i was headed in the lockup direction unless someone tells me other wise. so explain one more time, the lockup will dosnt replace pressure plate?
  8. alright so theres a million threds on this forum about these clutches, but ive yet to discover my own question about these setups. i want to know what are these clutches? are the even clutches at all? at first glance i sound like a idiot. my conclusion is when you install a lock up clutch your basicaly just replacing the outside pressure plate, and you still need the inner plates that fit into the basket like any other machine. maybe im making this alot more complicated than it really is or maybe it is above my head. so i wanna know what parts exactly get scraped when you install this setup and witch parts remain the same?
  9. ive completed my build about a month ago and have yet to understand the knowledge needed to properly tune it. this is my first two stroke ive ever. so i called the guy down the street and he said he wants 20 and hour and will have the bike tuned and jetted properly. he raced two strokes as long as i knowen him and owns a auto repair shop where he works on many of his own bikes. i have a local yamaha dealer but i rather burn my money than take it to them idiots. so heres what my banshee is currently at, toomey tr6 pipes, pro design cool head with domes(20cc i think the previous owner said race fuel only), (2) 34mm Mikuni tm carbs on a crossed over intake with dual 14inch open drag filters, 200w stator with +4 timing, v force reeds(unsure of the number but it isnt v3), 1/2 reed spacers. the motor is stock, and is still on the stock bore & ported. so what i need to know is what jets should i buy? he told me to get 3 sizes above and 3 sizes below. my banshee is really nice and i feel like an idiot when it comes to jetting. im planing on take it down to him today but what should i know or should i tell him? the mods are obvious on my bike but witch ones are important to my jetting? id say they all are, but any advice or insight will be nice so when he talks to me i dont just look at the ground.
  10. Im confused by your problem. i think what your asking is if anyone else has ever had a problem with the roundhouse adjustment. well i know im running the same combo and just recently put it on, with the exception of the gearing combo. atm i have 14-39 and next week ill be running 12-39. when i put my carrier on i had to play with it alot to figgure out how long my chain need to be. what i did was take the carrier and set it to its longest position and measured my chain so that when my chain was stretch fully it was completly straight with no sag but it was at a reasonable tension. i bought a 120 link chain and had to chopped two links off. considering you only added a link (115) to the orignal chain measurement (114) im confused how you even fitted it. well thats really not important but id say u either forgot to set your carriers maximum position first before you bought or cut your chain. theres a online calculator that figgures your chain length but it dosent allow you to add in gearing and roundhouse carriers. so your best bet is next time around you do alittle homework before you buy something, the chances are you arnt the first to make this mistake. ps. i wouldnt modify your ratio to much. i did and lost alot at bottem end. if you cant get the slack out try one less link, if not i know bmx bikes use half links, dont quote me on this, but i think mx bikes also use these to get desired slack.
  11. over winter i would like to upgrade my jugs to a larger bore, or just replace them all together. my 2 stroke education is still poor, but i do understand the basic principals. over winter here in buffalo ny, i dont wish to ride my new rebuild banshee(chassis&componets). so what i was deciding was how i should go about making it faster for next years riding. i wanted to make the cc noticeably bigger, and most people i see on the site use the 421 cub kit. now for the stupid questions part. i understand some modifications require a new crank, witch requires spliting the case and depending on how big you go youll need case boring. i do not wish to bore my case, and dont even realy want to split my case. so the easy solution is send my motor away and it comes back all done up and me broke having no idea what to do if something goes wrong. so to wrap this up, i wanna know does a 421 cub kit require a new crank (im sure it does) & how easy is it to install. is there anything that i personaly can not do at home because of inexperiance or incorrect tools? just a side note, im not some retard with money who wants to go fast. not many people my age have funding to even offord a banshee, let alone mod one. any advice will be appreciated. thanks
  12. ive taken in carb size into consideration. my view is, if i buying 33mm carbs and then later having a drag port job and a big bore kit straped on ill end up upgrading again. right now i do agree these carbs might be alittle acessive but some day they'll find a good pair of matching jugs. im going to take my bike to the guy down the street who races two strokes, it'll cost me money most likely, but nothings free.
  13. nop, i did nothing test wise yet. i just completed the setup up and kicked it over. heres what my bike is at. toomey t6r, pro design cool heads with domes running on race gas, 39mm tm carbs with billet crossed over intake, 1/2 inc reed spacers, boss racing 12 drag filters, v forvce reeds. im not the first owner of this bike but i can assume its still on the stock bore and has never been ported either. the probelm dosent seem like its major, or effects the motors reving, i just figgured id ask before i rode it and something serious happend. thanks
  14. Ive just completed assembly of my banshee and now need help tuning the new cabrs. the carbs are Mikuni 39mm tm carbs setup up on a crossed over intake. my question is it seems like one side (the right) is producing more smoke (a white smoke) than the left side. i havent played around much yet with it, but i rather ask and have an idea of where to start to correct this problem. is this because one side is running richer than the other? what should i do, im sort of a newb to two strokes
  15. i feel stupid because i figgured it out before i read your post. & yes your explantion was good and makes perfect sence. i bought a that stainless steel bolt kit of ebay and the bolts are alan head bolts. i had remembered a funky looking bolt and when i gave digged it i discovered it was a specialty bolt with a threds taped inside the bolt itself. thanks for the help, i hope this will anyone else like me with the same problem.
  16. alright well all i realy need is a picture. ill greatly appreciate one
  17. picture(s)?
  18. Im in the process of a rebuild but have forgotten how to mount the radiator. i got the two bolts on the sides screwed down, but i forgot how the third top bolt connects. i know it involved that big metal collar thing but i cant seem to figgure it out, or locate another post regaurding my question. can some one post me a picture? another question i have, where does the hose from my pro design cool heads go? is it just a breather? im talking about the hose on the top of the heads near the spark plugs. thanks
