  1. Yep, stock pipes & filters. Emailed various pipes companies in USA, CPI, TOOMEY, etc, they not interested in my business. Dont know how safe it is to buy from other members here and the stealers in SA want an arm & a leg for decent pipes. Anyone interested in supplying me a good set of used CPI's, shipped to South Africa? Going for #320's followed by a plug chop.... Agree? Thanks for all the replies.
  2. Hello to all. Forgive me in advance for I am a 100% DIY'er and like a Monkey, when I SEE, I DO. And so after spending huge amounts of time reading your posts and looking at all the pictures, my story begins....... One day while I was helping a friend clean his 4 stroke carb with a highly flammable cleaner (you spray into the carbs while in WOT) I decided to do the same on the Banshee, dumbass idea. You probably guessed it, burn a hole on the piston. Had the cylinders rebored next size up, new Pro-X pistons, rings, gasket etc. Decided to buy a dremel and began to grind away. Dont ask me what type of porting I did, perhaps you guys can tell me? Had the head skimmed to .030" and re-assembled the motor. It fired up with no problems but it smoked quite a bit and then I realized that I was still running a 20:1 mix. Changed the mix to 32:1 and ran a couple of heat cycles before taking it out for a controlled ride, you know, ride 10 minutes, cool down. During this ride I only smelt the normal 2-stroke smell. The following week-end I joined some friends for a good ride and that’s when I noticed a strange exhaust smell, different from the normal 2-stroke oil. It smelled like jet fuel, hard to explain in words but I thought perhaps you guys can explain this one? I had visual confirmation from a friend that my pipes were smoking in case you wondering I might have too little 2S oil. The air temperate during the ride was +/- 90F and I was ridding hard. The bike runs great, beat a piped TRX450R if I may use it as a bench mark. I know you have lots of questions and in no particular order I am just going to type what comes to mind; Stock banshee with exception to unknown port & skimmed head, stock pilots, #200 mains, clip 2nd from the flat part and stock pipes. Elevation +/- 6000 feet I checked the plugs and it is between light grey to the coffee with cream color, I have checked for loss of tranny oil and water in the oil but all negative, I have checked the radiator water, no loss. Fuel type here in South Africa – Unleaded 95 octane, not sure of your equivalent. Ratio 32:1 YamaLube 2S oil I don’t really want to remove the head unnecessarily so I will wait until I receive your replies. 3. Hi Again, Thanks for the replies so far and the type of riding I do is trails/forests and clearly the BBK is not suitable. Appreciate the advice. Keep well, Crazy.
  4. Hello All, I need your help and advice. The right side piston has melted during a ride and cylinder badly scratched. Where to from here, do I re bore the cylinders and install new over sized pistons or go with a bolt on BBK? Look forward to your replies. From, Crazy
