Springers all day unless you are a factory rider w a experianced shock guy dialing you in every ride they are the biggest pain to set up and very tempermental i have rode them all and nothing compares to an axis ride. Only benefit to floats or any air shock is the weight differences. If i was a strictly drag racer id use for light weight and smooth ride.
Thanks!

I rather a set of coils.
If a shock fails the spring will get you home... An air shock you would be fuxked
good point

I am mostly a recreational Dune rider but I do go riding in 90 plus degree temps. Do high temps or aggressive riding affect these type of shocks more than coilover shocks?
-
Anyone running fox floats shocks and how do you like them? How do they compare to say Works or Elkas?

I had a stator test perfectly but when it was mounted the wire burned through and shorted to the case.
-
So the parking brake switch is removed right. thats exactly what it sounds like is why I ask again, sounds like its stuck open
-
could be your stator

Not sure the on I got off NYUK looked a little different. It had a eyelet for the ground and the you had on the quad had a different style ground that had a u shaped clip that the screw went through. The yellow & black leads you swapped out are testing fine.
Need to get my hands on a flywheel puller so I can re-look at the stator & grounding. I borrowed one but left it in a buddys toolbox whos now in Ytown.
Definitley inspect all the stator wires for burn marks where its shorting to the case. I just had this happen to me on a used stator I bought. I bought another new stator and it fired right up.

I have one from a 92...
I have one, PM me your address.

Thanks, I'll look at the timing again and report back.

He said the plugs are wet. You might want to make sure your cases and/or pipes are not flooded with fuel. Take the plugs out, turn the bike upside down and roll the engine over with the kicker to see if fuel comes out. When the fuel quits coming out, put the bike right and let it sit for awhile with no plugs to air out. Then install new plugs and see if it will start.
Tried this one already, had this problem about a year ago before I rebuilt my carbs. took the pipes off and no fuel in them, kicked it and nothing came out of the crank. Thanks!

dump some pre mix down the plug holes if it fires its carb
Tried that, still didn't fire, put in about 1/2 a small surenge full, is that to much? not enough maybe?
-
check your timing plate again......try and readjust it to 0* timing and try and start your bike. if you do have good strong spark, and fuel (actually making it through your carbs to cylinders.....sure your fuels on? seen it before...) and oxygen is the other. if you have all those then you should fire.....put it back to 0*, turn your gas on and kick.....make sure your choke tube is still good and your carb floats aren't hung up....and if all else fails then try a SMALL bit of starting fluid.....
then report back.
Adjusted back to zero and tried starter fluid, when I drain the bowls with the fuel on it flows like a river.

RM Stators are just as bad as Ricky Stator. I would recomend a used factory stator before I would use a new aftermarket one. The only aftermarket one that I have not heard bad things about is Electrosport/Moose. Does your flywheel rattle at all? If you have good blue spark and it is in time, then you don't have an electrical problem. Have you checked compression and your reeds? Also, have you tried new spark plugs?
Flywheel does not rattle as far as I can tell. Tried new spark plugs. It ran fine 5 minutes before I changed out the plate so I figured my compression is fine. I have a gauge so I'll check it just to be sure. Have not looked at reeds yet, guess i'll tear into them next.

Is it possible to have good blue spark and Ohms are OK and the Stator is still bad?
-
Double check all conections in ignition circut. Spark and good spark are two different things, is it blue or yellow spark. CDI is usually a go/no go part. JMHO, but considering many have problems with new ricky stators don't know why you would by used
. Might want to try good stock stator. If you fubarred stator taking flywheel off you obviously didn't use the correct puller, are you SURE you didn't fuck your flywheel?
Checked em twice, Spark is good and blue. Bought used RM Stator not Ricky stator because of all the bad stuff I heard about Ricky Stators. Used = Cheaper than new is why I bought it and the guy said it worked. flywheel appear to be perfectly fine.

If you have spark, why do you think you have an electrical problem? An engine requires 3 things to run- spark, which you have; an air/fuel mixture, did you see if there is fuel in the tank and carbs; and compression, what is yours?
I think its electrical because the bike ran right before I took the flywheel and stator off. There is gas in the tank, spark is good and blue, plugs are wet when I kick it. I even put fuel directly into the cyclinder to see if it would fire off.

Is flywheel key installed, or not damaged? Did you rest pick-up gap?
Key is installed correct and is not damaged, marked the shaft and the flywheel to make sure it wasn't slipping and it is good. Pickup coil gap is right, tired it dead on spec and a little low and a little high and nothing. Thanks!

If I have spark and my stator and pickup coil Ohm's are OK can my stator still be bad.
-
Guys help me out please, just did this and followed instructions to a tee, now I can't start at all. Put on a new RM 200 watt stator at the same time. I tried adjusting the gap, pull starting, kicked the shit out of it, put the stock stator back on. I have spark and fuel. It was hard starting when cold before but would always start after 5 or so kicks. I can only get 91 oct fuel here. I'm .60 over, LRD Pipes, pods, jets, and thats about it in mods. Thanks!

When you buy a new quad from a Dealer they will pay you to take the course. I got paid $100 to take it in Missouri. Had to show up though, wasn't online.

How do they compare to Little Sahara OK, they are about 75-100 ft there. There is no way a truck is getting up most of them.

I was there last weekend and got there friday @ 2:00pm and there was still a few spots available, got pretty busy saturday. North camp was pretty full but Cowboy was wide open .
