  1. I picked up some 162 and 165 jets - which were the only ones in that range that my local shop had. I guess Ill start with the 165's so I dont lean it out too much. I'll put the BR8 spark plugs back in and change the jets tonight. Im also going to pull the head off to see what dome is in it. My friend seems to think it was an 18 but I guess I need to be sure. I found another local shop that stocks the domes for that head.....any suggestions based on what I currently have going on what size dome I need? thanks for all the quick replies.....we are going on a poker run this weekend and Id like to have this quad running before then.
  2. I think he said that the jets came with the carbs but I could be wrong. What size jets should I change them out to? Ill check the compression tonight....what should I be looking for? What plugs should I put in it? Should I just go back to the BR8's? thanks.
  3. so my friend has a 95 banshee that he never rides and it has been basically sitting for the past 3 years. We have been bringing it out with us to glamis lately so the new people can have something to ride. This thing is just getting down right rediculous now. It is a complete bitch to start and it either starts on the first or second kick or it takes like 43 kicks to start and the hassle is just not worth it. what has been happening: he says that from when he first got the bike it has smoked out of both tailpipes. After the work was done the smoke is only there for the first few minutes upon warming up. The bike has always been a hard starter and its getting worse. As of the last trip it was down right immpossible to kick start the thing. here is a basic list of what is on it from his memory. 95 banshee bored(sp?) but cant remember how much stage 2 porting lightened flywheel kleinn 35 PWK carbs with 175 jets delta force 2 reeds cool heads with the changeable domes, but not sure which ones are in it. toomey pipes - they say T5 on them so I imagine thats the style number. Lately we have been running basic 91 pump gas with a mix of 45:1 I pulled the bike apart to clean and check everything out and here is what I found: - Both pipes were leaking badly at the header pipe connection. - the plugs are BR8ES NGKs and they were fouled pretty good after one trip so I changed them for the next hotter plugs which were BR7ES and I also bought the BR6ES's. - One of the vent tubes coming off of the carbs was melted in half and sealed shut by the header. - on the left carb, the throttle cable was completely unscrewed and dangling there so the carbs werent opening up evenly. - The throttle screws on the carbs have no spring on them and they are screwed almost all the way in. when I asked why he said that was the only way to get it to halfway idle. - I tried to pull the flywheel off and see what the timing is but the threads on the puller and the flywheel are absolutely F'd. I asked him what the timing was and he said that they reemed out the holes on the stock one and moved it a little. I have no idea what that means and I cant get the flywheel off to set it back to stock. I took everything apart, cleaned it, and put it all back together. I set the carbs so they open up at the same time and so that they go up the same amount. I wasnt sure how far up they were supposed to go but they currently go almost to the point you cant see them. I fixed the vent tube on the carb and cleaned the airfilters etc.... First kick after all that and the stupid thing fired right up. I shut it off and it kicked over again on the first shot. I rode it around for quite a while and then turned it off. When I came back 20 mins later it was about 10 kicks before it started up again - which is what has been happening the whole time. I have no idea about these things and I am at my wits end.....toooooo much work as of this point but its a hell of a lot of fun to ride so I dont want to just leave it at home. any thoughts????
