I got a idea exactly what you are talking about. My wire bought these little magnet alarms from Ace hardware that you put on doors and windows to alert us if there is some one trying to break in. they are pretty cheap and very loud. i bet if you rig this little alarm to your quad some how it would definatly wake you up if some one moved it and broke the magnetic connection. also they are battery powered, so no hard wire needed.

I think this is a sign of the times. pepole are stealing A/C units from back yards. There are no gas stations around my area that you can pump the gas first then pay. i think every one should secure thier valueables and tighten down the hatches. Its only going to get worse. On a side note, My dad use to tell me that a person that uses bad language all the time isnt smart enough to have a intellegent conversation. what does everyone think?

just my .02c , but i would not touch it due to the transmission problems. the 01 was notorious for having to replace the tranny. Alot of poeple write about this problem on raptor.com. when i was shopping for a quad my decision can down to a 01 raptor with some good mods, but with some research i now own and love my 98.

Here in missouri there are huge hills called chat dumps. they are scary straight up and goes to the clouds (at least that what it seems like on the bottom looking up). i climb the one near my house with shredders on the back. that vid you posted is cool and all, but your banshee should do any hill out there as long as some one went up it before. you are king of the hill. if there are other quads around, yours will go up any thing anyone else does. I am a big boy, so i do a second gear wide open if needed. most of the time i dont need to do more than 3/4 throttle. i can do a stand up wheelie on my shee over a mile and the bowls never choke.i think you need some confidence in your machine before u hit the big shit though. have a great weekend. :biggrin:

sounds to me like to cable isnt adjusted properly. there are alot of threads on here about that topic. check the little tip points on the bracket and the little arm the cable goes in . they should face each other.

I run at 40:1 ratio and i never foul a plug and the smoke out of the pipes are just right. Not to much, but enough to see thier working. there is a thread about the lenght of time on a tank of gas on here some where, but i say 3-4 hrs on a bolt on modded shee.

it all started off with my brother bringinng his new raptor 700 to my house. i had told him about some power lines near my house i wanted to check out. we took the road in front of my house and a couple of country roads to the trail head. the power lines were way over grown and about a 1/2 hr of fighting the thorns my lil bro says lets go balls out to the new hwy 21 construction. i say lets do it even though it will mean tearing down the completed part of the highway for a couple of miles. i live out in the country, but its not hilly billy rural. i knew better to do it, but my shee was running great and my bro was peer pressuring me, so the next thing i know we are racing cars down the highway and pulling off 1/4 mi wheelies.every thing was going good. we got to the new construction and tore that up a while. as we were coming back to my house when my bro said the car that was behind him was on the cell phone pointing at him. he got all scared and loaded up and burnt out real fast. i was giving rides to my kids in the back yard until it got dark then went to put the shee away when 3 county boys pull up and tell me to pull the bike out of the garage. they get me to tell on myself by deceit and even put me in cuffs. my kids start freaking out and made me feel like shit. i tell them no matter what every thing is going to be fine. right then the cop tells my wife and kids if it were up to him i will be spending the night in jail. right then i proceed to let my mouth over ride my ass and tell the cop there is nothing he can do to me that hasent already been done and that i will bet him i will be out by the time he does the paper work. so that pisses the cop off and he slams me on the hood of his car. that sucked, but it was what got me off, because my neighbor comes out of his house and asked to talk to the cops. about ten minutes later the cops lets me go with a warning. come to find out his wife is the sister of my states attorney general and my neighbor is a retired state highway and bridge inspector. after the cops leave he tell me to not get caught again and that i own him one. i could of really gotten raped with fines and charges. i learned my lesson and from now on i know what will happen. it really didnt seen like a big deal, but my kids are still asking if daddy is going to jail.

i agree with speedy, i usualy get around 4 hours of hard riding. Are you getting crazy white smoke out of your pipes? i would think you should be able to smell the gas if it is leaking that bad.

not to sound like a bitch, but a motor is electric. a engine is combustable. just to let you know.

I came from the 4x4 world. i had a monster ford w/ 44in tires. a rippen cj5 with a screamin 304 and then a couple modded suzuki samurai's. all in that order. I got tired of the hassle that comes along with keeping every thing going. Also all my buddies started to get 4- wheelers. My little brother got a nice warrior, but that would not climb the chat dump at our local riding spot. So he got a raptor 660 from a friend. his friend got a 700 efi raptor and spanked him at every thing. So my bro sold his 660 and found a almost like new 700 raptor for 4500. he kept telling me that i should get the 700 and be done with it. he said i will never be happy with any thing else. Since i have 4 kids 9 and younger and my wife stays at home to raise then, i really didnt have that kind of money. i didnt want him to always keep telling me that i should of gotten the 700, so i started to look for a bike that wasent as much as a small car but that will at least keep up with his bike. so after the tax refund came in i started to look around. i checked out the suzuki ltz400, the 660 raptor and even a old 250r. i always liked the 2 stroke and when i seen a 98 banshee on craigs list in my area i went to the bank and then went to check it out. needless to say i now own a 98 bad ass banshee. it is perfect. it has all the modds that i want and it will even beat my brothers 700 2 out of 3 times.

Can i montor the radiator level at the over flow tank? if it is a head gasket or o ring(is a o ring on the piston) that will be much easier to repair myself :biggrin:

when you say it might be steam, is there a difference in the color of the smoke? And when you say the radiator, you mean the actual radiator, not the under the seat over flow tank? The smoke is white in color and it doesent dissapate very fast in the air. If i fill the radiator and over flow tank, will i notice the change in water level right away if it is the o ring in the head? You guys rock!
