  1. We have a 4 mill stock cylinder stock uncut frame on race gas that runs 4.20-30 everywhere. Most of the time it pulls a 1.55 or so 60ft but has done a best of 1.491 and ran a 4.20. 15-42 gearing running 14 stg extremes at 72.5 ro and jockey weighs bout 150. Bike weighs bout 290

At this last race, i think there was only one bike that turned in the 3's and it was a triple. some dm's were running 4.0?'s

I just bought some 14 pdl ext i can't wait to try out.

I'm spinning bad at the start and need to do something with my clutch too?

I think this conversion in the far lane ran 4.2

  2. Seat of the pants usually doesn't work. Timed increments is the way to do it.

Me personally, I would have stayed with the 6 stock springs. Then would have worked with the arm weights using a gram scale.

The clutch is not the cure all for your set-up, but the right clutch set-up along with the overall set-up. Is always key to s strong running quad.

any idea what i should start with for arm weight? or is that a secret

  3. There's some good advice so far, but there are some other options also.

One, depending if you are running a lock-up. You can also take away some primary pressure in your clutch to help wiith your wheel spin/60'time. Depending on your arm weights you might have to add weight to get it to lock-up down track. It will not solve all your problems, but it will help with the overall set-up.

i don't know my arm weights. i have ran it will all oem springs and though i was slipping too much (seat of the pants) and no times...... so i put in 3 stiff, 3 oem.

pic is with all oem springs and yes that's me in last...lol.

  4. Guys...this is totally my opinion.

Try not to get hung up on MPH. Instead, work on 60foot and ET.

Rob @ RDZ...like him or hate him, is a king of small motors.

His game is 60 foot. He puts paddles on small motors most won't dream of. His 60 foot and ET win races and set records. His MPH...not so much.

Others in the smaller sized motor classes pull 10MPH on him. But they can't get his 60 foot or ET.

I've use MPH to help with timing in the past. When you hit a wall with timing, your ET will be the same but you'll lose MPH. You know you went too far when that happens.

Cannot say it enough....60 foot is where it's at. Get that down, the rest is much easier.

Yeah, that's what i'm thinking too. lowering my 60ft will help my et and don't worry about so much about mph. guess it's time to get the wallet out and get some tires. i try tires first and then work on the gearing.

  5. In 300 foot on a cub you absolutely should get into 5th gear...actually be maxed out in 5th gear.

    However, if it's spin city....maybe not. :)

i think i'm close to being maxed now with 15/42, so with a 16 or 17 i might be able to get it into 5th but i'm sure it won't be maxed out. will be easy to try though just to see if it makes a 60ft difference  .

  6. Your mph is pretty good which means the gearing is close. If you're not bogging off the line I would go up to 14 paddle extremes. Without a wheelie bar that may create another problem. Try to get that 60' time down to 1.5.

    I run a 10mil cub, rigid, 16 or 17 / 44 gearing with 14 extremes. My 60' is 1.5, 75 mph and 4.1 et. I've got a little work to do also.

do you get into 5th with a 16 or 17/44?

  7. Yeah i launch in second and get it into third right away, no bog at all. i might be able to launch in third but i thought that would blow the tires out worse? i'll keep my eye out for some 14 extremes for sure and see if i can stiffen up the rear shock some more too. it's weird cause it use to lift with the stock soft shock on, but now that is lowered with the stiffer shock, doesn't lift at all?

  8. first time to a 300ft sand drag race and i can't seem to get launched. the track is all sand, no dirt mix. my set up is a 10 cub, 150 lb rider, 15/42 gear, stock frame, +8 swinger, +2 a-arms, lowered with R6 rear and ex300 front shocks. i started with 72" ro 12 paddle extremes and then tried a buddies 72" ro 13 paddle extremes. my 60ft times didn't really change much from switching tires. my et got .056 quicker though. i've posted a couple pictures and time slips, hoping for some advise on my set up. i'm number 24 on the slips, orange in the pics, my kid is #28 on a 7mm stock cylinder we switch tires on his too for comparison. something else too, my front never lifts at all now since i switched shocks to lower it? i've got a ton of times slips, no 60ft time quicker than the one with my son riding (1.759).

    my kid (115 lbs) ran 60ft in 1.759 and a 4.30 on #24.

  9. which one is easiest to fit on the banshee and is it virtivcle resivore or horizontial resivore?

I just installed a R6 shock with a red spring, vertical reservoir. Lowered it 8 inches with a 8 over swinger. Had to make some bushings for the bottom bolt/link.

  10. I bought BRAND NEW BANSHEE YFZ350 RZ350 WELDED CRANKSHAFT CRANK +10mm (64mm) STROKE, 115mm LONG ROD from ebay Does anyone have any experience with it , this is the link http://cgi.ebay.com/...RK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

I got one too from that guy..i checked into it and i think most of those tiawan crank parts come from competitive crankshafts out of los angeles. i order mine with upgraded center main bearnings, 10 ball roller bearing, tz bearing and different rods. i check mine and it was .0015 true. just stuck it in the cases today with no issues.

  11. I just got mine back from greg. sent him my dunable 1-4 m5&6..had him convert it to a n1-5 ...all good! always returned my emails and phone calls. no worries.! i'm going to send him my other one for the same make over.

  12. Yeah that! ran mine over Prez weekend.. air temp was about 15-20 degrees colder than normal..went up two sizes on pilots and mains from cpi's/colder temp. hit a lot harder than the cpi's...ran both cpi's and snipers against some of my buddies...really hard to say, but sniper's may be a little stronger, a length or so in 500-600 ft... ran on a re-sleeved big bore 7mm stock cyllinder and not a cub, so not the ideal application...my 10 cub is still a work in progress.
