What are you doing to upgrade the front brakes? Did you go with any aftermarket shocks to compensate for the extra weight? I know if I jump something on mine or come down from a wheelie it will bottom out on the exhaust. Mine still has the original shocks and the front shocks are even more useless with the adition of my +3 A arms. -Rob

Never said I couldn't figure out what bearings to use, just figured I would save some time and ask those who have done it before and know the best rout to take. Has no bearing (no pun inteded lol) on my capabilities. Grim ripper, what kind of welding did you do? I used my mig welder for all my welds and tested the thing with the welds only half finished, some tac welded with no problems, I have no doubt they weill be stronger than they need to be when done. I tend to over engineer things so I don't die, have yet to have a weld break on anything. I went with the Vtwin for the usable torqe. I've never been a fan of the 4 cyl sport bikes since all the torque is up around 13K rpm, I don't like to wait for the torque. Of the sport bikes I have ridden the power on the 4 cyl ones are unpredictable and seem to sneak up on you. because of that I have always prefered the vtwin liter bikes. Should be fun to ride, I'm sure I'll be in the market for some aftermarket shocks soon to hold up the extra weight. -Rob

Banshees are pretty ugly to begin with but thats not why people like them, fuction is more important than appearance, the dress up is yet to come. I was thinking of making an aluminum cover to go over the whole air box area, the frame will be black, haven't decided what to do with the rest of the open space yet. The A arms are new, bought them a few months ago as the stock ones were too narrow and were bent. I'm not sure what year the frame is 99 rings a bell. Is there a # somewhere on the frame to figure that out? Not sure what I'm going to do with it, I like building stuff no one else has, I'll probably get a set of street tires and mess around on the pavement and have a set of dirt tires for off road. It's just a fun bike, no pre-deturmined purpose. The banshee seemed to have been neglected before I got it so the front wheels do wobble on the spindles and one seems to make a nasty noise when I'm moving. The rear tires also can be moved a bit on the splines. Based on that and the fact that I don't intend to die I want to go through it all and redo it right. So are you saying to find a good name brand bearing in the right size that is not necisarily meant for a banshee? Are the original bearings any good? If so, bearings usualy have a # on the side of the race that I could use to find the same ones. Thanks, -Rob

Well my banshee project that I started over a year ago is getting close to being finished. I am building a yamaha banshee with a 1000cc Vtwin sport bike engine in it. The engine is from a Suzuki TL1000R. The bike currently has a +4 rear axle, +3 front A arms and I had to make the frame 5.5" longer in the engin area. I have just gotten most of the fabrication done and am currently working out the bugs so I can take it back apart and finish welds, paint it and rebuild everything. Still have to make some skid plates and fairing type pieces to make it look a bit nicer and cover the air box. My question is, since this thing is much heavier and will go much faster than stock :cool: I would like to at least do all new bearings when I take it appart, are there seals as well? Is there a certain brand of bearings you guys could recomend and where to get them? Also, are there bushings and other moving parts that I should adress as I take the whole thing apart? Maybe a kit that has bushings and bearings and all?
