dont even think that it will change a thing. 4 stroke people are like women, you cant change their mind no matter how many facts you prove. let them talk all the shit they want online, prove it to them on the sand/track that banshee is THE ultumate quad.
true.
They just piss me the fuck off. Like 4-strokes are crazy fast.
The difference is, banshee guys are more down to earth. I admit that 450's and 700's give the banshee a run for its money. But they think the 450 dominates everywhere hands down.

Some moron on exriders thought it would be funny to make a banshee dissing website. Theres like only 2 of them so far.
I say we wreck the site. Wreak banshee havoc! I think it would be hilarious when a ton of banshee lovers go on and totally wreck the site dedicated to bashing banshee's.
Go here http://www.freewebs.com/bansheesuck/letthedissingbegin.htm and just rip on 4-strokes and stick up for banshee's. Ruin this kids website, and embarras him when theres tons of banshee lovers on there.
I already started.
That site is going down!

Shit, my banshee has my wallet held hostage!

You can'y just simply weld in 2in's of tube to the existing stock a-arm. It doesn't work that way.
Because of the V-shape of the a-arms, if you cut a part off, and extend the other, the part you cut off won't line up. It will be wider so you can't weld it to the existing a-arm. If it was that simple everyone would be doing it.
You would literally have to make your own tubes and weld the ends on it to work properly.
Ill sketch up an image real quick for an example why it wont work.

ive run trail claws.. good tire.. i thought they quit making them though? i havent seen them around in a couple years..
I think they mightve. I hope we can find another set.. If not, we're runnin 21 mudsharks on his.
Mine has holeshot XCR's on it right now Have to get new ones when they wear down.
-
loco, all I have to say is you're a idiot who's obviously NEVER ridden in a coalmine in your lifetime..
They are some crazy ass hills. Loose as fuck too. You can't walk up them, it's impossible. You just slide down with an avalanche of dust and soot.
I'm fond of the mudsharks. They aren't obnoxiously huge, or too small. And have good bite.
Shale eats the shit out of razr's, knarlys, etc. After 3 good long rides on a banshee, say goodbye. Time for new tires already.
There's only ONE 20" tire I like for hills, the titan trail klaw. The design is good in trails, but they almost act like a paddle, because of the tread pattern. They saved us a couple times in the coal region where we had to slow down on a hill. They're 20", so you have to keep and eye out for ruts in the hill. They usually have much taller tread, but in this pic, they're gettin down there. Gonna need new ones soon.
These are some of the hills we deal with..
look how small the quad is..

I leave the the key in the ignition in mine when I park it. If a thief wants something bad enough, a key is about a 30 second inconvenience.
Yeah, keys dont stop thiefs. As a matter of fact, my dad lost his the other day, but wanted to ride. he spliced it up in about a minute until his new switch he ordered comes in.

This was before we finished. We thought we would have to fab a new shock mount to use the stock shock, and it ended up too high and the geometry was fucked up. We were able to grind a little of the mount and use the stock mount. You can see the custom mount in the photo above.
This is also with aftermarket rims.
-
Yea i would count that, good job  never thought about doing that to my wifes blaster.
Thanks!
The most specific area, is that the blaster swinger bolts through the engine and the banshee's doesnt. We had to machine out part of the swinger with real tight tolerance as to not let dirt in and be a good fit. The sides also had to be slightly milled to fit between the frame.
The outcome was .5 longer swinger, and with stock rims it was a total of 4 inches wider. (in pic) and with aftermarket, probable 7 inches wider.
It felt nice to actually have brakes, hahaha.
-
Does converting a banshee swingarm/axle/hydralic brake system to a blaster count?
Ahh, the joy of having a dad thats owns a machine/fab shop.
i was going to adapt the banshee rear wishbone/rear shock, but ended up selling it for the 400ex.

87-90 had the J-arms. The single top arm that looks like a J and the regular bottom arm. 91-09 have a-arms.
In 1995 they changed the electrical plug connecters. So you can't put a 95 wiring harness on a 94 and lower without swapping out all the other stuff, stator, etc.
Also I believe in 2002 they added a tail light. Not just a brake light.

oh thanks, because my banshee doens't have a key switch, so i didn't know...i bought mine w/o a key, and i wasnt sure on the year on my quad...
Did you run the vin numbers? Sounds kinda stolen to me. He couldve took it and wired it to start since he didn't have a key, and he didn't tell you the year...

Hey. My dad is trading some stock reeds for a set of boysen rad valves with the dual-stage reeds.
Is there really a noticable difference? Any increase on power? Throttle repsonse?
We're doing it anyway, because they definitely wont hurt the bike, but was curious if I should expect some sort of increase anywhere.
-
can all of you pm me prices for the stock heads?
-
That sucks man, but im sure once its done and flying it will mean more than just buying a new one...and im sure people would agree with me on that one
Hell yeah. Nothing like putting it together yourself. It almost makes you feel more attached to the quad.
Here shee sits as of currently. Once the engines together, and carbs are cleaned, we'll put her together and get her runnin.
I know the engine bench looks like a mess, but thats because we are replacing a lot of the stuff like circlips and everything. We wont get confused, we know these motors pretty damn well.

Me and my dad bought this banshee as a project. He already has one, saw this one cheap and we decided to get it.
We go tear it down, and look what the previous assholes did to it
-
Onesickcrewcab has some for sale i believe still , or i have a set somewhere as well. Shoot me an offer i can ship monday...
After just talking to my dad, he keeps insisting we try to clean these first. We'll see what we can do.
But I do need a head no matter what, mine is shot. So if you have one..
-
congrats on getting money and doing work to it and BTW, its never done
Tell me about it :shoothead: haha.
In the future I might look into a stage one port job. But for now im already spending enough money.
-
Well, I started working for my dad and made a lot of money.
I just sent my cylinders off to passion (probably didn't arrive there yet) to be bored/honed/chamfered, and I am having him send the whole top end overhaul kit back.
While Im waiting for those to be inspected and bored, im also on the hunt for a stock head and stock carbs. I have enough money for the carbs too, and heads are cheap.
So my banshee will be done soon, thank god. Ive waited so long.
Gonna break it in while it's still stock, then milling the head and installing the 916's.
-
Well, sent my cylinders out to be bored and having a rebuilt kit sent back with it. While they are with him, I gotta start looking at carbs. Mine are all varnished and such and I really don't feel like dealing with them.
I'm looking for stockers. TORS or not. Can be jetted, because ill just use my stock jets for now.
Im looking for a set that is in good shape and doesn't need to be cleaned, just want to put them on and go.
Thanks!

FMF Fatty's with Q silencers. They're special built quiet silencers..
I would say DMC 916's, but they're really loud, lol.
-
get a cool head with some domes for that pressure idk about milling it and what elevation are you at with 130PSI
Screw coolheads. No offense if you have one, but I hate them. If anything i'd buy a noss head.
But we were trying to stay away from that. My dad has a machine shop and can mill it himself. It was at .028 when we bought it, and after reading around you can safely mill your head to get around 150psi. Just wondering how far we can mill it safely.
I don't know exactly how high my elevation is. Im in NEPA and we live on a small mountain.
We'd even be happy with 140. Just want some more go go juice.
-
Hey everyone.
I read that on a stock engine you can run 150-160 psi of compression safely on high-test.
My dad's head is currently shaved .028 and hes looking for more power. On a fresh rebuild, it already makes around 130.
How far can you shave the head safely? We want it at about 150psi

Well I think I have the problem solved, as recomended by 2strokespirit. I put in some BR8EIX (Resistor and Iridium) plugs I had laying around. It quit reseting on me. I tried the 9 volt first and it would still reset. I left the 9 volt hooked up and unpluged the tach wire. I was still getting an RPM reading with those Non Resistor B8ES's.
I put a the BR8EIX's in fired it up with the tach unhooked and there was no RPM reading like there SHOULDNT have been. Hooked the tach wire back up reved it a couple of times and it didnt drop out on me. I also have a more stable rpm reading at Idle as well.
Those B8ES's must make a lot of interfearance to show up as a tach reaing with the wire unpluged. You should be albe to run the standard BR8ES too. I just happen to have a couple Iridium plugs laying around.
josh
thats wierd, lol.
btw, the pic in your sig is funny, haha
