  1. I'm heading up to around Almont Colorado soon and want to carry my banshee. Currently it is set up for 90 degree weather and 400 ft elevation. Noss head with 19-20cc domes they were supposed to be 21's but the compression is right at 170psi. 50 over with wiseco pistons mild port Fatty's and Power core 2 boyesen reeds K&N clamp ons Stock Carbs running 320 mains I'll probably be riding in 60-70 degree weather at 8500-9000 ft. elevation. If I go down one for every 1750 ft. that puts me dropping almost 5 jet sizes and the temp difference should get me back up 1. Would 300's be a good safe bet? I've only got a few hours on it and don't want to do another build. Since my compression is close to 170 I'll be bringing my own 110. Will that be a problem? Thanks ETA: I will probably only run a tank or two of gas through it fairly mild riding. I just want it to be safe. Anything else I need to be concerned with, Laws?
  2. My advice to all would be check your compression and domes before you crank it and ride. I had my engine built and it seized with 2-3 hrs on it. Everything was looking good. Rebuilt the top end and out of curiosity I did a compression check, it kicked over at 168 cold. I'm supposed to have 21cc NOSS domes (that's how they were ordered, sold, and marked). With the compression it's closer to 19cc domes. Stock carbs 25 pilots 320 mains 32:1 GN2 400ft elevation upper 80's Very light port work 50 over NOSS head Fatty's and Power Core 2 ETA: My buddy used the same gauge and checked his new motor with a few hours and it kicked 135 cold with 21cc domes.
  3. Thanks, I'll give him a call and let him know to check the water pump seals.
  4. Can you think of anything else it could be? I've been out riding with Justin and the thing doesn't smoke excessively on either side. It's nice and even, with no burning fluid smell. Does anyone have a pic of the way the two vent hoses are routed? Just want to make sure they got routed correctly. Thanks.
  5. A buddy and myself both have complete passion builds. His is a little more tricked out then mine is but, they are both top quality. I can't say enough about Jim. He's walked me through everything and has been a great help. My friend has almost the exact build your talking about and it is pretty damn strong. Dune port, shears, 33pwk's, 21cc domes in a noss head with 19cc's for race gas, 1 piece intake, vforce-3's, and a complete build. Mine is a complete build with a mild port, noss head, fmf's, stock carbs. Jim won't tell you anything you don't need done.
  6. Thanks Wacko, at least that will give me something to start from. I just want to get this thing going instead of ordering more parts and waiting. I've been sitting on it too long as it is and just need to get off my ass and get it going.
  7. I picked up a basket case last year and have finally started to get it going. I sent the motor off to Jim at Passion and need to know what jets to get. Thanks for the help. .040 over Noss head with 21cc domes FMF fatty's and power core 2's K&N clamp ons timing advanced 4 degree's stock reeds for now 400 ft. elv 85-90 degree weather It may end up with Jim's mild port job and v-force reeds. If you could give jetting recommendations both ways I would appreciate it.
  8. Thanks, I'll keep you in mind if I can find another cylinder. I've got 2 that I can sleeve now, but would rather just get a pair of used ones and have them bored. As long as it will make .60 over on the next boreing I'd be interested.
  9. Let me know what you got and what you want. I'd like them to end up no more then 60 over when they get bored. I would prefer stock to 40 over, but let me know what you have. Thanks
  10. Well, I finally had time to pull the thing half way down. One piston and jug looks good the other piston is scrap. Although it looks almost new, I guess it got ran lean. It's burnt pretty good and the skirts are cracked pretty good. That jug has slight galling. What sucks is I found out that they are weisco's and it's already 66 mm. What's the best option here. If I can get by cleaning up the jug and re ringing I probably will and just buy one piston. I really don't want this to run hot. Should I look for two new jugs? Sleeve the jugs, or just buy one jug if I can get by. It will mainly be trails and dunes and I don't want to go through this agian any time soon. Thanks for the responses. I'm in TX too, just to let you know the climate around me.
  11. I picked up a 2000 banshee monday for $500. It's got a set of FMF pipes, T.O.R.S. kit, and probably a few minor things, but have not pulled it completely apart to see exactly what. Complete and decent shape, but does not run. I think I figured out a few things, but would like some advice. Head looks trashed. One side has a couple of holes eatend into it and both sides looks like they ran lean. Around the outside in the chamber area it looks like they were hit with a grinder. Pieces of metal are melted into them. No big deal though, I've got another good head here. One piston looks almost new, and the other looks new just burnt alittle. The good side seems to have a little more play in it. The burnt side has a indentation in the jug. No compression, turns by hand, leaks down. There was no oil in it just a milky water/oil combo. I guess replace all of the water pump since the gear is missing a couple of teeth and it was probably leaking. Should I try to soak the clutch in tranny fluid, or say screw it and replace it? The idler gear just flops around like crazy, so I assume a new bushing and clip are needed? The shift linkage is just laying there though, still attached to the gear shift but nothing else. Basically I'm wondering what ya'll would recommend, I'm on a budget and would like to have it a little nicer than stock, but not break the bank. Should I just go with a top end kit with some weisco's or build the whole thing? What else should I look for to be wrong with it. The wirings kinda messed up and may need a magneto. I'll try to get some pics up in a day or so and maybe ya'll could get a better idea. Thanks in advance. Oh, who's the best person to get the parts from?
