  1. ok, ive spent days searching for this before i posted it, and came up with little to nothing. i am porting my own cylinders and got one done pretty much, i want to go to the transfer ports but cant find much info on them. ive read you dont want to raise them much, but how wide can you go and still maintain a good overall powerband?? im not trying to step on maybodys toes here, like the real builders, just trying to accomplish sompthing for my own personal pride. i have a brand new set of untouched cylinders incase i screw up, but this is sompthnig i really want to try. ive been taking pics all along the way so you guys could give some constructive critisim, just have to develop them. and where is the best plact to buy a tool to get to the transfer ports?? cant find anything there either. i will try to post some pics soon too, polishing the cyls and head, looks cool. thanks a billion guys matt
  2. heres what im working with so far, any ideas on different color??? i thought it was neat at first but now im not sure
  3. wow!!!! thats a butt load of work. could i just put it in the paper as a custom bike with a bill of sale?? kinda wish i wouldnt have did that so soon. im not looking for a title just to sell it clean. where are the vin numbers on a banshee frame??? sorry but im a sled racer, so take that into conderation before outcasting me. matt
  4. ok guys ive searched on the forums and cant come up with anything so i figured i would pick you brains. i have been building a banshee from basicly scratch and have come to realize i cant find the vin numbers, on the frame that is. my dumb ass went to polishing everything on the motor and have took every number off it, like the ones on the cyls that say the cc's and any other number, and the one on the case, i was going for this smooth polished look and got a little carried away then realized that with no numbers its not really any year quad. it looks sweet all clean like that without all those gaudy numbers but i think i might have messed up. i bought a frame from a guy and i cant find the numbers on it, but i dont have a clue where there at to begin with. sorry about a dumb question but i kinda need some help. i just got this to build and sell it and i dont want to screw the next guy because of my neglence. thanks again for all your help on this site matt
  5. get ahold of bluhm industries, they make brighter lights with the same draw as stock. my sled has 55w stock and they have some that put out 100+watt and still draw the same. great people to work with too.
  6. will the wire brush take out the casting pits?? like on the cylinders? im trying to do my cylinders right now and it sucks, cant find anything to use, the sandpaper on the dremel just makes it worse and you cant get into the little spots with sand paper. this sucks. that stuff is a art definitly.
  7. ok, i might just have them done for me, startin to get steered away from porting. is there anything else im missing on the rebuild?? so far i got reeds, porting, milling the head and a timing key. does that just about cover the basic stuff while its apart??if its 40 over right now i probably wont gain much going bigger will i?? wow these are a completly different animal than my sled. how would oxegenated fuel run in these with some ipone oil?? thats what i use in my sled and its good for about 8hp togather. how much difference does just cleaning them up do vs a full out dune job?? i think getting on this site might just have saved me a lot of money i do have a 600 ninja motor laying around in the garage, would it be easier to just put that in it?? or do they lose value when there like that?? matt
  8. i feel pretty confident in the porting work. i hogged out my stock reed cages and was going to put some boyseen reed on them, how it that for reeds?? how important is it to weld the crank?? my snowmobiles have never had a problem will my banshee?? ive been looking for some good used pipes to put on it and havent come across much. i was going to use the stock carbs and race gas to get a little more power out of it. i dont want to put to much into it, but at the same time i want it fast and right for the next guy.i know it needs some timing with the 110 gas but how much? will 4* cut it? and as for pistons, will a cast piston be alright or should i just get wiescos? thanks for the help, like i said i dont have a clue about these banshees and i figgured while i was starting fresh i would get some imput from someone that did. thanks a bunch matt
  9. i am building a new motor for my 03 banshee right now and was wondering what i can do for cheap to make it run good. i just got a new crank (stock) today and am going to split it in half tomarrow. i was thinking about using the race logic templates for the cylinders and milling off the stock head to run race gas. i dont want to put a lot of money into this cause im just building it to trade for a rocket this summer, but i want it fast so any help would be awsome.im not a banshee builder by any means i race snow x and came across this for a good price so i took it
